Zanaan Wanaan are Kashmiri words for ‘women speak.’ ZW engages in feminist activism on the ground, produces independent scholarship, supports creative work, and works towards strengthening the women’s movement in Kashmir. ZW’s action-research based approach is rooted in the commitment to upholding principles of peace, equality, and justice. We also work on building transnational feminist solidarities, forging alliances and creating cross-movement conversations. Areas of focus: Producing independent scholarship Engaging in feminist activism and advocacy Promoting civil discourse Encouraging critical inquiry Supporting and platforming Kashmiri women cultural practitioners Fostering creative expression What We Do: ZW is a cross-section of art, academia, media and activism. Our work facilitates, amplifies and advocates for women’s involvement in socio-political discourse. We publish original works in the annual issues in the ZW Journal. These issues are thematic collections of works by Kashmiri women from diverse backgrounds in the form of academic articles, narrative essays, investigative reports, auto-ethnographic accounts, interviews, artworks, photo-essays, video stories, and more. We are a network of women on ground and across the world working collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects ranging from gender based violence, peace and security, climate crisis, public health, and so on. ZW is focussed on women and youth-led activist action through critical initiatives required to build and sustain social change. We support/produce creative and artistic expression for civic action and information dissemination. In addition to this, we conduct capacity-building workshops, film-screenings, provide skill-based training programmes and also introductory courses on research and methodologies to young women as a part of our grassroots collective action.

We have always been passionate about helping others and, during the pandemic, we saw the anxieties of parents trying to keep up with, and understand, their child’s learning. We could see what parents really wanted was support and guidance and we started to think how we could offer this through ‘Tutor Your Child’. We decided to put together a programme which will help and guide families through each school year for maths and English, nurture confidence and mental health as well as try and support any additional needs. ‘Tutor Your Child’ is an online subscription service for parents of children Reception to Year 6, to help with maths and/or English. Each week, parents receive a short video showing them what to teach and how to teach it, with supporting activities. By the end of the academic year, parents will have covered the skills within the curriculum with their child in small, manageable steps and been part of their child’s learning journey. There will be assessment opportunities along the way so they can keep track of their child’s progress. We are passionate about children’s mental health so ‘Tutor Your Child’ includes helpful advice through regular blog articles and access to our ‘Wellbeing Zone’; offering guidance for supporting children’s self-esteem and developing a positive attitude to themselves and others. We have been friends for many years with Maryanne having considerable expertise as a SENCO and Deputy Head and Sue spending many years working as a private tutor and teacher, and hope eventually we can grow ‘Tutor Your Child’ to help many families nationally. The Anglo-Iraqi Studies Centre (AISC) is an academic and community project based in London. AISC aims to be a point of contact in London for all knowledge about Anglo-Iraqi studies. The centre is dedicated to gathering, presenting and reviewing all material written in English about Iraq in the last two centuries (1800 – 2000) and aims to bring together Iraqi and British communities through the mediums of cultural events, knowledge presentations, outreach visits, studies, workshops and sessions with academic professionals from Iraq and the UK. The centre aims to play a key role with academic and public figures in the UK to enhance public knowledge and understanding of Iraq, Anglo-Iraqi studies, Iraqi-British connections, assisting the Iraqi-British community to rediscover their identities thus enabling further positive integration of Iraqis into British life. This website contains further information about the AISC, a list of selected books published in English about Iraq, the full text of a selection of English language books about Iraq, a photographic archive related to Iraq, a list of publications by AISC’s staff and volunteers and video links to events by AISC staff. The centre contains a library with more than 1,000 books and periodicals published in English about Iraq and aims to collect as many English language publications on Iraq as possible. These will be presented to the public and also made available online. Through the mediums of cultural events, knowledge presentations, workshops, studies and outreach visits the centre aims to enhance the education of the public and British/Iraqi communities and assist Iraqi-British citizens’ further positive integration into UK life.

Products can be purchased in person or you can book a video tour of the shop and we can post your purchases out to you!
