Sarah Louise Dix Upholstery was formed in 2005 by Sarah Dix. The business comprises of the Couture Label, the Pink Label, SLD Upholstery Services and upholstery courses & workshops. The Couture Label evolved from fusion ideas and specialises in the design and upholstery of quality vintage furniture inspired by the construction and form of clothing. The label’s designs are part artwork part furniture creating highly individual finished pieces. Some designs physically incorporate a vintage garment creating a surreal air while others have structural elements such as corsetry, the Corset Chair, or tailoring. Sarah’s furniture was shown at the London menswear show Stitch in February 2010 on the Blaqua menswear stand and were stocked at their shops in Newburg Street W1 and Kings Road SW3. In November 2013 Sarah bought an antique chaise longue from Katherine Higgins on BBC Put your Money Where your Mouth Is and reupholstered it in red velvet and faux fur with a corset back. Then in February 2014 She sold the Corset Chaise to Jeff Salmon on the Channel 4 TV programme Four Rooms for £1200. 2010 saw the launch of the Pink Label. The Pink Label is the diffusion range and produces the Corset Chair at a more affordable price. The original Corset Chair design has been simplified, the frames are new exact copies of the original Victorian shape and are upholstered using modern materials. Sarah also sold the chairs at Follet in Petworth, Sussex in 2012. The Upholstery Courses were introduced in January 2012 and run for ten weeks. The first teaching venue was at The National Trust property the Barge Building Shed. Dapdune Wharf. Guildford. Sarah had a residency there and courses run throughout the year in stunning surroundings, on the banks of the River Wey. She also launched courses in the studio space at The Art Works in East Horsley. This was a unique space selling contemporary arts and crafts. Other course locations were in Farnham, Grayshott and Cranleigh Arts Centre. Once Sarah was able to take on her own space in Godalming, the courses ran inhouse from then on. The spaces include Studio 22 and Bargate House and the current property in Farncombe. The courses are very popular and often over subscribed. Sarah also runs Beginners Footstool day workshops once a month on a Saturday. The workshops give a great introduction to upholstery and helpful when considering undertaking a ten week course. SLD Upholstery Services offers a full reupholstery service for clients. This service has been running alongside the design side and courses from the beginning. The workroom now has four professional upholsterers working on various pieces of furniture for customers. This can range from a cushion cover to a three piece suit. The company has undertaken work from a variety of people such as titled Ladies, artists to royalty, Pop Stars (a pink latex bed for Nicki Minaj’s world tour 2018), partners in top London banks and Mrs Judge from around the corner. She gets to visit the most amazing houses including one once owned by Chris Evans and Mary Wondrausch's unique home crammed with her pottery. Sarah continues to expand the shop and fabric accounts with fabrics available from fabric houses such as Designers Guild, Romo, Osbourne & Little, Christian Lacroix.

The RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) is awarded by Unicef. Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and young people and their rights. In 1989, governments across the world agreed that all children have the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential. The Award recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s planning, policies and practice. All children are taught about their rights at the Rochester Grammar School. Rights are the focus each week during form time with key discussion points and reflections activities. We also have a steering group where children come together to discuss their Rights. We celebrate our diversity as a school community as we endeavour to develop young people who are fully cognisant of their rights whilst respecting the rights of all members of our school community. As we work towards the SILVER accreditation we have: Weekly form assemblies where students use RRSA’s resources to explore the articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Established a 'Steering Group' of adults and children who help to drive the programme across the school. Conducted a planning review: We are in the process of reviewing the KS3 curriculum to embed issues and themes of the UN Convention across our subject areas so that the children visit and revisit important concepts throughout their learning journey.

TEACHING: A teacher to me is on the one hand an enabler, someone who assists skilfully in the learning of another without claiming to be anything more than a facilitator. I aim at empowering students to own their experience and process and find their inner teacher. On the other hand, a teacher is someone who through practice, experience and study reached a level of knowledge and understanding which when it is shared enriches someone else's experience. I enjoy sharing what I've learned and keep studying a variety of subjects, practising with my teachers and learning from my students. A central dimension of my teaching is space holding. Holding space is like externalising mindfulness into 3D: creating a space of presence, awareness, trust, clarity, empathy, curiosity, and non-judgment for a person or a group. YOGA: I believe in the power of a yoga practice because - both as practitioner and teacher - I have experienced and witnessed significant shifts in inner as well as outer state and the experience of being alive. Firstly, it is a system that is based on ethical principles. It offers multidimensional practices ranging from movement and postures to concentration, relaxation and meditation all of which promote awareness, healing and training of our physical body, our breathing, our energetic body, our senses, and our mind. There is something for everyone. To connect to ourselves, we need to spend some time with, get to know and begin to accept, respect and love ourselves for who we are. My intention is to teach in a mindful way putting awareness first. The main teaching focus are breath- and heart-centred practices with accompanying movement and postures - yoga from the inside out. There are various studies that prove the positive effects of conscious breathing on psychological and physiological healing and a calmer state of mind. The techniques become tools that serve your personal journey and enrich your life. A yoga class also offers the opportunity to connect with and support each other without words or touch but through sound and breathing. THE FEMALE BODY: Since my first pregnancy yoga teacher training, I have gone on a journey of discovery around topics specifically relevant to the female body experience. It is a fascinating, beautiful and sometimes intense field of work. The intensity comes from the fact that the changes pre- and postnatally on a physiological, mental-emotional, practical and spiritual level can be incredibly challenging yet the mainstream message is to 'just get on with it' and 'to get your body back'. My intention is to bring women together, to hold space for their experience and offer useful practices for their special state of health. To deepen my knowledge around birth and to be able to offer more support for women and supporting men, I took a doula training in 2016. The more I learned, studied and experienced in this field, I realised that there is a lack of awareness around the importance of a healthy pelvic floor for general wellbeing alongside with shame and lack of opportunity to talk about issues like incontinence, prolapse and pain. I am passionate about doing my bit to change this by offering pelvic floor workshops for women. Another reality in a female body is a menstrual cycle and menopause. There is beautiful wisdom to be had when these female life and monthly cycles are embraced. Living as if we didn't have a cycle leads to ongoing underlying stress and a plenitude of health issues. In the era of the #metoo campaign, it is more evident than ever that there is a lot of trauma in women's bodies and hearts. I hold women's circles and half day retreats based in yoga which are a safe place to be and share.

I am passionate about the role that the arts and culture should play in the life of the child and I am determined to help the UK preserve its identity as one of the worlds creative powerhouses. Fostering links for young people with creative industries and ensuring that classroom based activity has a tangible and meaningful link with the world beyond the school gates is of paramount importance. My work across all sectors of education has been to try and bring together a framework of experiences and opportunities, designed to help children and young people translate early educational achievement into meaningful attainment and develop the critical and creative skills vital for their future. Sam Atkins Hi, I'm Sam and have been working within the media and education industry for twenty years. Following a successful career in TV production I was appointed the role of a broadcast journalist with the BBC. Whilst with the BBC (Nations and Regions) I was part of the development team that established the highly successful BBC News School Report and BBC Parachutes programmes working with young people to produce professional level news packages for BBC output. In 2008 I established C1 Media Ltd, a media in education business, and to date have engaged with over 6500 young people from primary, secondary special, college and higher education sectors. Within my first year of operation with the Arts Service at CfBT Education Trust, we also launched The Young Journalist Academy in 2008. This highly successful education programme provides professional level training for children and young people. Partnerships developed over the years for both the YJA programme and other projects include: The Royal Albert Hall, BBC, English National Ballet, RAF, The Guardian, Cirque du Soleil, National Theatre and Royal Opera House. Sara Bullimore I have been working in the arts and cultural sector for over 20 years and during this time I have developed not only my own professional skills but more importantly, created high quality opportunities for commuities to participate, learn and enjoy the role arts and culture play in our lives. Initiating, delivering and managing a vast range of artistic projects both as an independent freelance arts consultant and in previous roles as the Arts Development Officer at City of Lincoln Council and at National Dance Agencies in Nottingham and London, have helped me to understand the value and critical importance of collaboration and partnership working. In particular my personal passions are literature and dance - I fully believe in the transformative power meaningful participation in quality arts and culture can have on a person's life - regardless of age or ability! I have extensive experience working with mupltiple partners and funders on projects. Working for the City of Lincoln Council I created and managed the Cultural Sector Partnership - working with partners in the private and public sector, heritage, arts and sports to develop strategies, conferences and cross cutting artistic programmes and festivals. I have undertaken and continue to work independently with Lincolnshire County Council, Writing East Midlands, Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage, Shakespeare Schools Festival, Kazzum Theatre Arts, University of Lincoln, Lincoln Business Improvement Group and Arts Council of England to name a few.
