Thank you for visiting the CDAT home page. CDAT is a multi-academy trust currently made up of nine very diverse schools from across the whole of the Diocese of Chester. CDAT was formed in 2014 by the Chester Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) and has worked in very close partnership with the DBE ever since its inception. The trust has a distinctive ethos that is clearly rooted in clear, Christian values – respect, friendship and trust, to name just three. These impact on every area of our work and are communicated and shared in such a way that all member schools can understand and relate to them. Although the Trust was initially set up by the DBE, it is fully inclusive and we are happy to welcome both church and community schools into the CDAT family.

Once it became apparent the complex restoration of Pioneer was possible, the decision was made to set up Pioneer Sailing Trust in 1999. The trust, whose founder trustees were Mary Falk, Charles Harker and Rupert Marks, is a registered charity. From day one practical help and funding has arrived in generous measure from many individuals, organisations and local businesses. Pioneer’s new purpose is to offer young people the challenge of sailing, which often proves to be a life changing experience. Pioneer has accommodation for three qualified crew and twelve trainees. As a powerful and strong sea going vessel, she is ideally suited for day sailing or passage work in the Thames estuary, across the North Sea or the English Channel. Being a crew member highlights and emphasises many vital qualities essential in life and the trust believes these practical and new experiences helps develop young people. The trust also opened Harker’s Yard in 2009 to further its work with training and education in the marine industry and provided opportunities for work experience and apprenticeships in marine engineering and boat building and repair. Pioneer Sailing Trust works closely with life development trusts, training agencies, councils, social services and other organisations devoted to improving the life prospects of young people, many of whom deal with difficult circumstances. Young people often find time at the trust opens new windows of opportunity.

The Bishop Fraser Trust - A Church of England Multi Academy Trust What is a Multi Academy Trust? A multi-academy trust (MAT) is a single organisation established to improve and maintain high educational standards across a number of member schools. Through collaboration and partnership the member schools are able to share expertise and resources. A MAT has responsibility for the overall governance, finance and performance of the member schools. Who were the initial member schools of the MAT? The Bishop Fraser Trust was established in December 2017 with two outstanding schools in Bolton. Canon Slade School and St James’s CE High School came together as convertor academies with the ambition to secure best practice, uphold the positive aspects of tradition and a provide distinctive Christian education for our families. We were delighted to welcome Bolton St Catherine’s Academy in May 2018 as a sponsored academy and Bury Church of England High School joined us as a convertor academy in January 2022. What is the vision at The Bishop Fraser Trust? Our vision is: To allow all children to experience ‘life in all its fullness’, no matter what their starting point. The Fraser Centre Community Trust is a registered Scottish charity: SCO43597. The Trust was formed in 2011 by Jonny Russell, supported by his family and friends, with the aim of refurbishing the old Winton Picture House. The picture house, the ‘cuds’, opened in 1922 and remained open until the early 1970’s when it closed its doors. It was used by a variety of businesses after this but the building slowly fell into disrepair. In the 1990’s the building was purchased by Kingdom Outreach Ministries and a small section was refurbished for use by the church and became available for local groups to hire the building. It became clear however as the condition of the building deteriorated something had to be done and the Trust was formed to meet the challenge.
