The history of the school can be traced as far back as 1844 when the Sisters of Mercy came to Nottingham and opened St Mary’s Elementary School and St Catherine’s Day and Boarding School on this site. Since then as the demands for the Catholic education grew within Nottingham so has the school, to the special place it is today educating over eleven hundred young people. The school is an active member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, along with the other twenty Catholic schools within Nottinghamshire. We are a Catholic school with the aim of developing our young people spiritually, socially and academically with Christ at the centre of our work. Our school motto, ‘Ad de Gloriam’ meaning what we do we offer to the glory of God, underpins the ethos of the school. This is developed further within our school mission statement: “To the Glory of God, we build our school on faith, love and respect” Academically we are consistently one of the highest performing schools within Nottingham City both at GCSE and A-Level. Being a former dancer, classical dancer, it informed me as a human being just in terms of the grace I guess. Ballet is a very graceful form of art. You also become very aware of your body and your mind and your body is working in conjunction. That kind of helps you in acting as well. It is not only using your mind, it is like making your own mind communicate this character into your body so that you can bring it to life and physicalize it. Cara began dancing at a very young age taking part in ballet, tap, modern jazz, street dance, lyrical and musical theatre lessons throughout all of her childhood. She went on to study Sport at college alongside doing her teacher training within dance. Cara then went on to study musical theatre and dance at a full time professional college, alongside teaching dance at the weekend. After having to pull out of college with a serious injury she decided being a professional performer wasn’t for her as she LOVED every second of teaching, so focussed all of her time on gaining 10 teaching qualifications within the IDTA. Alongside teaching for nearly half of her life, Cara has also taken part in many amateur dramatic companies performing in musicals, worked for professional dance companies in shows and events and completed many training courses including physical literacy, nutrition, Zumba, exercise to music, and smoking cessation. She has a background of working with families and children in helping them live a healthier lifestyle as part of a Derby County Community Trust program and continues to work with DCCT delivering sessions for different programs they run. 14 years of teaching dance has given Cara lots of experience in working with a wide variety of children, including those with behavioural and learning difficulties. She has worked in many primary and secondary schools across Derby and Nottingham and continues to do so with pride. A fact about Cara: Alongside running The One School of Dance, she is a mummy to two small children (so please be patient with her).

In the highly stressful position of school leadership, it is often difficult to get a truly dispassionate view about how well you are doing or what other schools are doing to address particular challenges. Too often, external evaluation is very clear on identifying strengths and weaknesses but offers little in the way of advising on what can be done to address issues arising. With our experience of working with more than two hundred senior leadership teams across England, extensive knowledge of data management and analysis and up to date knowledge of inspection procedures; we can help you gain an objective, accurate understanding of the effectiveness of key areas of your school and will write this up in a way that directly contributes to your school self-evaluation, thus saving you time to spend where it really impacts; with your children and teachers. My Background After a successful 15 year career teaching in a range of different primary schools in different authorities, culminating in Headship, I joined a major public services company in 2008 advising on data analysis and management and school improvement through accurate self-evaluation. As part of this remit, I provided CPD and advice to primary schools across the country. In 2010, I undertook inspection training and became a fully qualified additional Ofsted Inspector. I successfully retained my badge in the reduction of inspectors in 2016 and continued inspecting until 2018, when one-day inspections significantly reduced the need for additional inspectors. During my time on inspection, I worked on behalf of SERCO and then Ofsted directly from 2016. In May 2011, I became a fully independent schools advisor and since then, as well as inspection work, I have worked with over 250 schools Nationwide. The location of these schools has included Sunderland and Teesside in the North East, Manchester and Thameside in the North West, various parts of London and Wiltshire in the South East and West, as well as many points in between! In these schools, I have worked in partnership with them on SEF writing, school advisory work, self-evaluation and school performance information analysis as well as providing both on-site and course training regarding data analysis and curriculum development. As I am not employed by Ofsted and have no ties to local authorities, then you can be sure that the view point I give is objective and based entirely around the evidence available. I work as an advisor to both maintained LA primary schools and Multi-Academy Trust groups.
