West Central London Fixers bring together volunteer repairers and the community to fix their electronics for free. The idea is to nurture repair culture in the community, rather than throwing away electronics – indeed e-waste has become a huge environmental problem. The events are open to volunteer learner repairers so are educational as well. WCL Fixers currently organise monthly free repair events at the Dalgarno Trust and the Space in North Kensington as well as at the Livat shopping centre in Hammersmith. The idea however is to have three branches: WCL Fixers – North Kensington WCL Fixers – Hammersmith WCL Fixers - Westminster - from April 2023 We are supported by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the London Borough of Hammersmith Fulham. We work in partnership with the Restart Project. West Central London Fixers also engages in the private repair and recycling of laptops. However, as we do not stock spare parts for all electronics, it may be at times best to seek professional advice. Click on the link to locate your local repair shop. Founded in 1989, we are a single organisation with seventeen Chapters across England and Wales. Our Chapters are led by local people acting together for the common good through the method of Community Organising. The UK has a rich history of people organising for power and change such as the Levellers, the Abolitionists, the Chartists, early trade unionists like the match girls and dock strikers, and the Suffragettes. Our work at Citizens UK is influenced by a heritage which draws on the broad-based organising of our sister organisation, the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) and before that the US civil rights movement. Over the last thirty years we have won £1.8bn in additional wages for low paid workers, ended child detention for immigration purposes, secured an amnesty of ‘legacy cases’ for 160,000 asylum applicants as well as winning many victories at the local and regional level. We build power with people so that together we can move from the world as it is toward the world as it should be. Some of our campaigns have spun off into dedicated projects, to create long-term change. The largest and most successful of these teams is the Living Wage Foundation which now accredits a network of over 9,000 employers who pay 300,000 employees the real Living Wage. Others include Parents and Communities Together (PACT) and Sponsor Refugees. We are proud of other social innovations that have successfully spun out to become independent organisations such as Safe Passage, London Community Land Trust and Money Mentors.

Having personally grownup and lived the maktab/madrasah education experience in the 80’s and 90’s and started teaching in the late 90’s to the present day, coupled with fatherhood, I have had the opportunity to build a close understanding and interest in making sure our community can provide a learning experience to young Muslims that is relevant and relatable for the world they live in. This is despite the limitations we have in resourcing and time. In a time when our children are surrounded with competing ideologies and ways of living, and with maktab education being foundational to their lives as Muslims, it is critical that it hits home for them as independently thinking individuals. I would like to thank our wonderful teachers and parents over the years for their trust and belief in the vision that there was always a better way to educate our children. Teachers have worked tirelessly to develop the curriculum whilst simultaneously delivering it diligently. Keeping one eye on current student progress and an eye on the horizon. In this fast changing world we have constantly reflected on the effectiveness of our content and delivery in preparing for the future. We are a volunteer led work with very few staff, but this does not mean we are a small organization. We can see as many as 300 people a day, looking for our assistance. We remain open every day Our impact remains high We can do this for a fraction of the cost of other day centres. We do this without any statutory funding. We recognize the true strength of our volunteers. And we recognize the value of everybody coming through our doors. First, we help people by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In our recovery programs, we address deeper needs for life-skills and job-skills training, and addiction recovery. We measure our progress against four criteria, which indicate to us that a life has been transformed from homelessness to hope: connection to family, commitment to sobriety, a job and a place to live, and a plan for the future. Today, The Whitechapel Mission is a results-oriented organization that is recognized as one of London's most effective. I am Stacey Zimmels and I'm the owner of Feed Eat Speak. I set it up this company so that I could help families and children to get the help they need when they need it most. I now work independently after almost 20 years in NHS positions. I currently hold an honorary contract the NHS Royal Brompton Hospital in London, having lead their Paediatric Speech Therapy service for the last 8 years. I continue to do some Locum clinical work there as well as clinical research. I'm one of those really lucky people who get out bed each day and goes to work because I love what I do. Helping you and your little ones is a real pleasure and passion for me (that's honestly true). I understand just how stressful and awful it is to have a child who can't or won't eat. It can often feel like no one is listening and that there is no one out there who can help. JESUS – COMMUNITY - CREATIVITY THE BEAR CHURCH IS AN INDEPENDENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH BASED IN DEPTFORD, SE LONDON. WE ARE A HYBRID OF TWO CHURCHES: THE SHAFTESBURY CHRISTIAN CENTRE AND THE BEAR CHURCH WHICH MERGED IN 2007. The Shaftesbury Christian Centre began in 1844 in a loft space above a cowshed off Deptford High Street. It was started by eight Christian men and women as one of London’s first ragged schools, so called because the children were ‘dressed in rags’ with bare feet in all weathers. In 1862, the Earl of Shaftesbury wrote “there is no institution in England more worthy of support than the Deptford Ragged School”. The Deptford Ragged School was renamed ‘The Princess Louise Institute’ in 1914 while The Ragged School Union was renamed The Shaftesbury Society in 1944 and Livability in 2007. The Bear Church began as The Brown Bear in an old public house on Deptford High Street in 1990. It was started by a group of visionary leaders and young people from Ichthus Christian Fellowship as an outreach post and church for young people. Today - The Bear Church is part of The Deptford Ragged Trust. We are a diverse, creative and growing group of people committed to loving God and others. From our base at The Shaftesbury Christian Centre in Deptford we aim to offer a place of refuge, learning, family, innovation, worship, hospitality and entertainment for the people of Deptford and South East London. Our building is home to The Bear Church, Bear Cubs parent and toddler group, parenting courses, ESOL classes, BearLive music events, pantomimes, Deptford Breastfeeding Group, The Evening Service and soup kitchen, The Deptford Ragged School Archive, Psalms and Stretches and Inside Out. We support NXD Free Film Festival, Bench Outreach, The Big Lunch, AA, XLP, Cherish Uganda and more.

CTVC is a multi-BAFTA-winning and Grierson nominated independent production company producing content that raises important ethical and moral issues, from the perspective of all faiths and none. Broadcasting across all networks, both in the UK and internationally, our television, radio, education and online platforms aim is to get people thinking and talking. Established in 1978 by Lord and Lady Rank, CTVC is a registered charity which receives a grant from the Rank Foundation; a grant-giving charitable trust whose mission is to improve the lives of young and disadvantaged people and their communities, across the UK. The company ethos was sparked in the 1930s when, as a Sunday school teacher, J. Arthur Rank became frustrated by the limited teaching materials for children and decided to take matters into his own hands (a legacy we continue today through our subsidiary, TrueTube). He established the ‘Religious Film Society’ to produce films for schools and churches. From there the slate and variance of projects grew, and Lord Rank went on to purchase the Odeon Cinema chain and Elstree Studios, as well as set up the legendary Pinewood Film Studios. The Centre for Television and Communication, as it became known, saw the thriving operation move to newly built studios in a converted country house named ‘Hillside’. Based in Bushey, North London, an early production, Will the Real Jesus Christ Please Stand Up? featured a fresh faced, young Hugh Grant. In 2005 we changed our name to CTVC Ltd and although we have progressed with the rapidly changing media landscape, the principles laid out by Lord Rank’s vision are still at the heart of everything we do. Above all, CTVC are passionate believers in the power and importance of media to educate, challenge and inspire.
