The Oxford Schools Chaplaincy is a registered charity (no. 1140387) and a member of the Evangelical Alliance. Since 2010 Oxford Schools Chaplaincy has been working in schools around Oxford, expanding from 2015, through a programme of working with and training volunteers in order to offer a wider range of activities. In 2019, we delivered 50 lessons to 1,220 students; provided assemblies to over 800 students, as well as supported Christian groups in 6 schools and organised teacher support events. We have 50 people who have volunteered from 23 churches around Oxford. In 2020/21, we worked to support teachers and students during lockdown, and Coronavirus restrictions. We were able to offer online lessons and assemblies, support teachers in running online Christian Unions, and offer practical and emotional support to teachers and students grappling with the issues raised by the pandemic. Our trustees and patrons invest in all aspects of education and are also involved with the River Learning Trust, the Oxford Diocese and Oakhill College, as well as active in their local churches. OSC has partnered with Wycliffe Hall, OCCA, Innovista, the Oxford Diocese, BeSpace and Gideons in bringing the message of the Christian faith to schools around Oxford. Our activities include: Bespoke lessons and assemblies. Christian Unions. Bible Explorer Walk through the Bible. True Club for Year 6 girls. Teacher Support events. Volunteer training sessions.

Saturn is a canal “Fly Boat” (express delivery boat), built by the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company in 1906. She has been restored to her original working condition and is now both an outdoor classroom for schools and an 'eye-opening' historical experience for adults. Saturn's history is fascinating - & you could be part of her future! Fly-Boats Fly-boats operated regular schedules running 24 hours. More about Fly-boats Canal Life Boat peoples' lives were hard and very different to ours. More about Canal Life Horse Boating Horses could pull 50 times as much cargo on water. More about Horseboating Saturn - a concise history Saturn was built 1906 in Chester for the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company. Entirely wooden construction – oak sides, elm bottoms. Horse-drawn she would usually carry between 12 and 16 tons Worked on the Llangollen Canal in the early 20th century Only surviving Shropshire Union fly-boat in original condition Saturn specialised in carrying cheese from Cheshire and North Shropshire to Manchester Saturn remained a horse-drawn cargo boat into the 1950s, by then working around the Wolverhampton area Mid 1950s to 1980s she was converted to work as a hotel boat Fully restored in 2005. Minority Matters is a charity that started in 2010 to provide children and young people educational support. Our purpose was to ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds were succeeding academically, so that they could break the cycle of poverty. Over the years, our role in the community grew to the point where parents were coming to us for assistance with wide ranging issues. As we were dealing with matters beyond the educational needs of the children, we started to engage with local authorities and our role grew organically beyond educational support. While we have remained true to our grass roots, we now deliver community focused projects to empower parents and increase the safeguarding of children. Our Vision Minority Matters’ vision is: to see a world in which children and young people from black and ethnic minority migrant backgrounds achieve their full potential, are protected from grooming and criminal exploitation and integrate into British society, and are not affected by the economic-socio circumstances they are born into, and/or their postcode. Our Mission Our mission is to reduce the impact of educational and employment inequalities, social, economic and geographical disadvantage on black ethnic minority migrant communities, through the provision of tailored support services, advice and advocacy, representation and a safe trusted space, led by the community in which they can trust. Our aim is to work in partnership with communities, to promote social inclusion, child safeguarding and increased engagement with voluntary and statutory services. In addition, we utilise professional and personal experiences to influence available statutory service delivery and the creation of new ones, such as those responding to the issues of grooming and criminal exploitation of children and young people. Minority Matters continues to assess community needs by developing programmes that will ensure parents are empowered and equipped with the skills and tools they need to better help, safeguard and protect their family. We want families to seek and find trusted community led provision/support available locally and foster communication so that cultural barriers are reduced. We provide tailor- made services and capacity built by the community for the community. We seek the reduction of gaps between statutory bodies and hard to reach communities, building trust on both sides and access to services, as well as bringing about to bring about positive changes.
