My passion for dogs started when I was only seven years old. It came into my life in the form of a tiny furry bundle called Kirby. Kirby was a six-week-old terrier puppy who had been abandoned on the curb, and who we rescued from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. As our lives began together, so did my curiosity and fascination for this species. Kirby very sadly passed away in February 2014 at the grand age of twenty years old, after a long and amazingly fulfilled life together I am still extremely passionate about dogs and the fascination and curiosity that began all those years ago continues to be a big part of my life. So much so, that helping dogs and their humans live happily together has become my full-time job as a dog trainer and so Kirby Dog Services was born!

Charlotte Wiseman is an applied Positive Psychology and Leadership Consultant known for her pioneering work in mental fitness in the workplace. It was her own personal journey overcoming chronic stress, anxiety and depression that first led her to explore mindfulness and positive psychology in 2009. The changes she experienced were so inspiring that she left her long standing career in the fashion industry to pursue an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology and Mental Health First Aid Trainer qualifications. Charlotte combines her scientific foundation with personal experience to embed positive leadership and wellbeing into the culture of organisations – enhancing engagement, reducing burnout and improving staff retention. A member of the British Psychological Society and International Positive Psychology Association, she has been featured in the Journal of Public Mental Health and is leading the way for bringing the parity of esteem into the workplace.

Dr. Adam is the founder of The PT Initiative, a globally trusted source of all things recovery, injury prevention, and athletic performance. His passion is helping active adults fix their injuries, improve their mobility and get them back to doing what they love, pain-free! He received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, with a Sports Medicine concentration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chapman University. He worked as a fitness trainer and strength coach for several years before starting PTI, and now blends his passion for both fitness and rehab into his treatment approach. These days you can find him treating patients in our Raleigh PT Clinic, working with clients remotely across the world, or posting helpful PT tips on our Instagram page! The Keys that open the doors to knowledge Alex Waterton is passionate about helping people to do things the easy way, which is why he started a business revealing the secrets of the Microsoft Office applications that people use every day. “There are easier ways to do many things in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project – and most people are just not aware of what’s possible,” he says. F-Keys was launched back in 1998 and became a limited company in March 2000 and the current team includes Carol Downey Microsoft Certfied Trainer, who started out originally as one of Alex’s students and worked her way up to become a Microsoft Office Specialist Instructor, and Microsoft Certfied Trainer just like Alex. Also on the team is Jo White, who was Alex’s tutor and mentor during his time at Mid-Kent College when he studied for his JEB Teaching Diploma qualification before continuing on to complete his Certificate in Education at Christ Church College Canterbury. Having developed a training suite that allows students to work in comfortable (rather than cramped) conditions, Alex and the team at F-Keys are flexible and passionate about designing the ideal learning solutions for individuals and businesses. “At F-Keys first we work to understand what a business wants to achieve and then the courses are customised and built around the learners. Over the last 15 years working in the family justice sector, I have seen how amazing senior leads come under intense scrutiny when they are working alongside children’s social care. As a child protection lawyer, and latterly a trainer, I work to empower professionals so you spend less time worrying about that Child Protection Conference or Strategy Meeting. Over the last 15 years working in the family justice sector, I have seen how amazing senior leads come under intense scrutiny when they are working alongside children’s social care. As a child protection lawyer, and latterly a trainer, I work to empower professionals so you spend less time worrying about that Child Protection Conference or Strategy Meeting. I founded the Safeguarding Association after working with so many professionals who were amazing at what they did but felt unsure about their role within the various child protection procedures and court processes. Their lack of knowledge was impacting their confidence when giving their opinions in meetings or at court. After working with lots of senior safeguarding leads like you, I realised that what they all needed was the same thing – understanding how to navigate the maze which is the child protection process and court system. The maze of processes is talked about in all safeguarding training. But knowing about it and working effectively within it are very different issues. I love sharing my experience and knowledge and there’s nothing more satisfying than knowing I have been able to remove some of that mystery so as to allow you to feel confident and empowered to fully protect those young people you work with. You should feel confident in your internal safeguarding processes, and how the systems works so you can be secure in your handling of complex child protection cases. We all need some downtime, when I’m not working, I spend mine with my husband and our golden retriever, Sam.
