Within the last 3 years I have completed my QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Level 4 Certificate in Assessing and Certificate in Teaching through University of ulster. I am currently completing my Internal Verifiers Award at Level 4 and involved in development and design of an e-learning platform to deliver a blended learning programme within the field of Health and Social Care. I am passionate about the quality of care being delivered and believe it is reflected in the quality of training and opportunities available to the staff. ARLENE MCCRUM Trainer/Assessor I have been working in the field of care for the last 28 years, I started my career as a care assistant working in a nursing home and then in the community providing care and support to individuals living in their own homes. I completed NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, where it gave me the opportunity to develop in my career. Other areas of training I have completed are; BTEC Level 3 PTTLs, ILM Level 3 Management, Level 4 Certificate in Assessing, Certificate in teaching through University of Ulster. For me, I believe that having started at the bottom of the ladder and progressed to where I am today, gives me a better understanding of what is required to deliver the standard of care needed for those who receive it. Hopefully my journey will encourage others who may have the skills and zeal to progress in their career. I have been working with autistic children and teenagers for 20 years. I started my teaching career in Further Education, and have worked in the Supported Learning Department of 2 large Mainstream Colleges teaching Numeracy, Literacy, Life Skills, and Childcare. I also worked as the Life Skills Coordinator at a residential college for young people with severe physical disabilities. My passion has always been working with autistic young people - I believe that they have so much to offer, and yet the education system often fails them because staff do not have the right skills and experience. This is something I am passionate about changing! I am an experienced trainer and really enjoy training others. I have a degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Education (Autism) a PCGE in Life Long Learning and hold NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship). I am also a Surrey Autism Champion and have a NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Working with Students with ADHD and a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I am also trained to use 3Di diagnostic programming which enables me to carry out assessments for possible ASC and ADHD. Laura is an advisor to PDA North America and provides support, advice and training to families all over the world. Laura is also the founder of Healthy Happy Me! providing support to children to help them maintain happy bodies and healthy minds.

The company was founded in June 2011 by Buzz Bury, Sharon Phillips and Steve Burns after several months of discussions and business planning. The idea had been spurred on by significant cuts to public spending and the shift in emphasis for young people and community services to the development of social enterprise. Think Forward C.I.C. was created as the vehicle to provide services which benefit the local community, particularly young people and community groups.  The Team Steve Burns Steve has enjoyed a wonderful and challenging career in education for the last 22 years spanning the voluntary sector, social services, youth & community work, further education, and working with young people excluded from mainstream schools. His experience includes four years within a managerial position in a pupil referral unit in Blackpool. Steve is committed to life-long learning and has so far undertaken a MEd in special education, a post-graduate diploma in youth & community work and certificates in counselling, careers guidance, life-coaching and a Master Practitioner qualification in NLP. Buzz Bury Buzz is a qualified Youth and Community Worker with more than 28 years of experience ranging from club and issue-based work to management and staff development. He has significant experience in project management, particularly specialising in supporting art and creatively based activities and is an established and valued European Youth Work Trainer within the “Youth in Action” programme of the European Union. He has demonstrated innovative training delivery in the fields of “Youth Participation” and “Global Citizenship” as well as supporting international volunteer initiatives. Sharon Phillips Sharon has 16 years of experience working in services for young people, both in career guidance and in a leadership role for Integrated Youth Services provision. In her previous role at Blackpool Council she was the strategic and operational lead for training, development & accreditation for Blackpool Young People’s Services. Being passionately committed to youth workforce development, she is enjoying being back at the coal face delivering training and in her spare time (ha ha) is in the middle of studying for her Masters Degree in Youth and Community Work.

Safe for All was formed by Anita August who has worked with disadvantaged groups in East London, both as a trainer and manager of a community project for over 13 years. Anita became aware of the significant impact that accredited training in First Aid and Health and Safety had on the employability and life skills of disadvantaged groups. Over the past four years (2006-2010) our senior trainers have been working in partnership with the College of North East London to deliver Health and Safety training to Haringey employees at all levels who are involved in delivering and managing front line services in Adult Social Care, including managers and employees of residential projects for adults with dementia, severe learning difficulties and mental health problems. The training has been extended to also deliver to services delivering childcare facilities including, nurseries, schools and childminders. Safe for All also specialises in delivering training to the Hospitality and Leisure Industries, Schools and Nurseries, Voluntary and Community Organisations, Social Enterprises and is expanding in to the Construction industry and Corporate Sector. Safe for All only uses qualified instructors who have a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from working in an operational Health and Safety and First Aid background, for example, Nurses, Lifeguards, Environmental Health Officers, Health & Safety Representatives and the Emergency Services. All associates have to demonstrate their competence through rigorous assessment of their training. All training associates are CRB checked. Safe for All’s Directors are professionals with extensive experience of managing private, public and third sector organisations and empowering disadvantaged people and communities in London. The Directors and training associates are committed to creating a more inclusive society and enabling everyone to access First Aid and Health and Safety training regardless of circumstance. Anita also identified a lack of affordable training provision and training resources for people with disabilities. Community groups she worked with encouraged her to make her services as widely available as possible. Hence Safe for All was born. Safe for All was formed with a vision to increase the availability of such training and is 50 per cent governed by people with disabilities.
