Resilience, confidence, collaboration, trust and emotional wellbeing (meaning purpose, strengths and values) are the areas in which I’m most interested. My enthusiasm for coaching evolved through my 35 years of sales and management, mostly within pharmaceutical sales with Pfizer Oncology and an early career in recruitment. From sales performance coaching in 2018 I progressed to personal development coaching and at the start of the COVID 19 pandemic I started coaching via the NHS leadership academy and private sector. It was at this time that I also trained to be a cancer coach with Cancer Support UK. Whether facilitating team and leadership development days or 1:1 coaching I bring energy, fun and creativity to virtual and face to face interactions. As an ILM5 coach and facilitator my approach is empathetic, encouraging, inspiring and strengths and solution focused, drawing on a variety of coaching models and leadership practices including Appreciative Inquiry and Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead. I am an accredited Conversations Worth Having practitioner, an ILM wellbeing coach, a cognitive behavioural therapy practitioner, a mental health first aider and Mental Health Swims host. I also provide cancer coaching and support for Cancer Support UK, Youth Cancer Trust and ALK Positive and EGFR positive UK. Inspired by my love of the outdoors, and a Nature as Co-Facilitator programme, I like to weave the natural world into our conversations where possible. My top Gallop Strengths are Ideation, Strategic, Focus, Achiever & Competition. Simply put, I love bringing people together to define the challenge, establish the best of what has been before and explore what is possible in the future. “Everything we need is within” is my coaching philosophy. What can we learn from nature about resourcing ourselves and adapting to life’s ups and downs? Identifying my clients’ purpose, meaning, signature strengths and values is part of this process. FlexSchool is a unique learning network designed specifically for gifted and twice exceptional (2e) middle and high school students. At this time two campuses serve the Tristate area, one in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and another in Bronxville, New York. FlexSchool embraces students for who and where they are, then supports them as they learn to thrive. Small, ability and discussion based classes taught by subject experts ensure meaningful conversations and the opportunity to ask high-level questions. The faculty, trained and supported by learning specialists and mental health professionals, focuses on critical thinking in all areas of learning. Our Cloud Campus welcomes online students from around the world into live, discussion-based classes and our community, either full-time or part-time. FlexSchool has had great success with remote students from Florida, Washington, California, West Virginia, United Arab Emirates, Bermuda, and Switzerland among other places! back next History FlexSchool started to save one twelve-year-old girl. Jane loved to learn what she wanted to learn, and spent hours engrossed in videos and web pages about animals. She could tell you about muscle cells and animal anatomy. She researched Native Americans and made all of the games and weapons used by the Lenni-Lenape out of found objects and craft supplies. She spent hours drawing and painting and could write fiction better than most college students. Yet, she loathed school. She rarely spoke in class, dropped out of the gifted and talented program, either didn’t do her homework or would forget to turn it in. She had As on the tests and Cs and Ds in the class. Jane’s academic future looked dismal. Poor grades and high test scores are not a winning combination for college admission. Her public school was not the right place for her, but neither were the local private schools. Academically-oriented private schools do not accept students with poor grades. Schools that accept students with poor grades are not always academically rigorous. Stalemate. Until we started FlexSchool. Jane spent six years at FlexSchool, learned to love learning again, graduated in 2020, and attends a well-known liberal arts college studying anthropology, linguistics, map-making, and art.

We are developing Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) areas; to allow them to access the curriculum and thrive in their interests and strengths. From September 2019, the school have introduced a 3-curriculum pathway to ensure the needs of the diverse school population are met academically, emotionally and physically; whilst providing challenge and support to ensure they are prepared for the next stage in their development, towards adulthood. We are a Sports College, providing an excellent provision that develops pupils’ physical skills and mental wellbeing, educating them about leading a healthy lifestyle, whilst having fun! Pupils have opportunities to access non-competitive and competitive sporting activities throughout the school year. We provide a Further Education Unit (FEU- Post 16) on site where the excellent provision continues until they are 19 years of age. Our greatest resource is the staff. They are supportive and highly skilled in SEND, supporting pupils throughout the school day to ensure they achieve their goals and become as independent as possible.
