Manchester Environmental Education Network, or "MEEN" as it is more commonly known, is dedicated to supporting teachers, organisations and individuals working to promote environmental education and Education for Sustainability. To achieve this, we use a variety of methods: we run projects with schools, organise networking events, provide a termly newsletter and pool various free curriculum resources on this website. MEEN began life in 1994 as an informal organisation. It was run voluntarily by teachers who wanted to bring environmental issues into their teaching practice. Today, MEEN has become an independent charity. In January 2001 a coordinator was employed to support and build the network. Since then, MEEN has provided a range of CPD services, training sessions and networking events, conferences and numerous projects around sustainability with schools and educational providers. MEEN is now over 20 years old and still upholds its core values: it was set up to support its members and to promote the sustainability agenda within schools and to agencies working with schools. The first edition of Beehive, the MEEN newsletter, was produced in 1994, and despite a few changes in its format, continues to be produced today. MEEN has undergone two significant changes due to the impacts of austerity. Firstly, our remit changed from serving the city of Manchester to cover Greater Manchester. MEEN has always had members from schools in other parts of Greater Manchester so it seemed appropriate, especially as services in the other nine Council areas were being reduced, to widen our remit. Secondly, we now focus increasingly on projects working directly with schools either through the curriculum or working with young people in their Eco Committees.

Apparently "ballerina" was code for business owner because now she teaches art in her own studio. Her path included earning an art degree from High Point College (now university), many years spent as an art director for print media, and many more teaching preschool locally. She founded Outside the Lines Art Studio in 2011 to share her belief in the transformative power of visual art with her community. Meet the Owner: Melanie Cramer IMG_2835.jpg At Outside the Lines Art Studio, we believe the process of creating is far more valuable that the resulting creation. An artist who has spent time exploring an art medium thoroughly may or may not produce a masterpiece worthy of professional framing and prominent display, but they will certainly produce something they are proud of, independent of others’ opinions. They will have expressed themselves to their own satisfaction. They will have experienced something new and learned from it. They will feel more self-assured and confident. Those are products you can’t hang on the wall, or even the fridge.

Edge of Play, formed in late 2017, is an online coaching resource, providing football coaches with hundreds of football coaching videos from the grassroots and professional game. Our website is subscription based and features videos from grassroots coaches, elite level clubs, academies and professional players all sharing exciting ideas and insights. The site allows you to link in with your social media profiles to share content with peers, clubs and players. Our vision is to build a global, inclusive, online community of coaches: learning, interacting and creating, together. It is through our work with our clubs, that we have become acutely aware of the challenges facing amateur, semi-pro and even professional coaches. We know that in coaching (like most other jobs) people are always looking for new content to ensure their players remain in love with the game; to keep them engaged, learning, developing, and most importantly having fun. However, we are also aware that not everyone has the same circumstances, opportunities, or environment in which to coach. Therefore we are to provide the best service for the lowest cost! Whether you are a professional, academy or grassroots coach, or simply a mum or dad wanting to practice with your son or daughter in the back garden, Edge of Play will provide the same inclusive experience. WHO WE ARE We are lifelong friends and FA qualified coaches: Jack Norbury and James Stokes. Football coaching is our passion and we want to share this with the largest possible audience with an aim to support, guide and promote sports coaching all around the world.
