The Devon School of Hypnotherapy was founded in Paignton, 2012 to compliment my hypnosis practice. Once developed, I started teaching a one-day self-hypnosis workshop designed to introduce the art and science of hypnosis and teach individuals how and when to use self-hypnosis from my clinic on Hyde Road in Devon. Initially, my students were current or former clients, but others heard about the school and wanted to learn more for themselves. Less than a year from setting up the school, I was running regular workshops as well as my then newly developed Certificate in Hypnotherapy weekend course (known now as the Introduction to Hypnotherapy weekend). Over the following year, I began writing the Diploma in Hypnotherapy course. Writing the diploma course and getting it accredited by The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) was no mean feat. I wanted graduates to be ready and confident to enter professional practice once qualified and ensure that they had adequate live experiences to back their knowledge. After several months of dedication and hard work, the diploma was completed. Now my students could train from complete novice to confident practitioners at one school over a period of 10 months.

Our studio does not promote any specific style of yoga but welcomes those methods which lead toward sincere enquiry, a deeper connection with the self and the calm wellness that naturally arises from that state. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment with informed and experienced tuition for personal development and self-enquiry which the practice of yoga inspires. Our classes, workshops and courses are for everybody, from complete beginners to more experienced practitioners. From new born babies through to retired folks and everyone in between, we aim to provide accessible yoga so that everyone who is interested may be welcomed and made to feel at home with us.

Devon First Aid was founded in 1999 by Mrs Helen Smith. Helens professional history included time working as a Senior Nurse Advisor at NHS Direct a Resuscitation Nurse Trainer in Devon and latterly as a School Matron in a private school. David has worked with Helen for several years providing support in training and assessing groups until Helen handed over the reigns in the summer of 2017. David has had a rich career in Health Care. He started in the St John Ambulance aged 12, Joined the Army as a Combat Medical Technician at 16 and trained to work in Operating Theatres a few years later. In 1992 He qualified as a Registered General Nurse working children with disabilities, elderly care, prison health care, NHS Direct and going on to qualify and practice as Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. David began his training career as an Officer with the RAF Volunteer Reserve where he maintains his affiliation with the Combined cadet force to this day. Helen developed a training ethos of gentle, fun, educational and practice-based learning which David continues to deliver. Taleblazers is a Community Interest Company that celebrates the stories of Devon and Dartmoor. We do this by researching tales from our region, rewriting them into original works and performing them as ballads or folk poems. Oral storytelling is an art we are passionate about preserving and we aim to engage young people in particular by involving them in writing and performance. We offer workshops in a variety of educational areas (heritage, natural history, ecology) to schools and historic sites and our workshops are tailored to locations to make them as relevant as possible to the groups we work with. As part of the research and writing process, we get involved with local heritage projects and promote the heritage and folklore of the areas we work in. We believe we can ‘Change the Story, Change the World’ and this philosophy informs our work with young people with additional needs. We operate a number of alternative education programmes based around the natural work, arts and outdoor skills, helping to develop social skills, mental health, resilience and vocational skills.
