How to do Pinhole Photography and Camera Obscuras Amongst other things in life, I teach people how to do this stuff , so here's some 'how to do it' info. Hopefully its as good as it gets. There are some amazing pinhole cameras you can buy out there (and some not so good) but for me making your own camera is part of the fun. I've split this into different sections.

Screen printing is a traditional print process that uses stencils to build up an image. The stencil is attached to a screen - a finely woven mesh attached to a frame. The image is printed by drawing a squeegee at pressure across the screen, pushing ink through the mesh onto paper in those areas not covered by the stencil. There are different ways of making stencils for screen print; the most basic are papercuts, but a more sophisticated technique uses a photostencil: the screen is coated with a light sensitive emulsion and the artwork is exposed onto it. This process allows greater detail than paper stencils, and enables photographic images and text to be used. For each colour to be printed, a separate piece of artwork needs to be created. About the studio and equipment My studio is part of Centrespace Co-operative, a block of 31 workshops and studios that also manage the adjoining Centrespace Gallery. Centrespace, formerly known as Bristol Craft Centre, took over the building, a former print works in 1977. My own studio is a light and airy space of two rooms with an additional wet room for washing out screens. One room houses the print equipment and one is for design and drawing work. The print room uses a self built exposure unit, and includes three printing stations (one tabletop setup and two vacuum beds), and marble racks for drying prints. The drawing room includes desk space for three people and a large lightbox. About the tutor Simon studied painting at Portsmouth Polytechnic and printmaking at Chelsea College of Art, where he received the British Instuition Fund for Printmaking Award. He worked in London for over a decade as a scenic painter and muralist before moving to Bristol in 2002. He holds a PGCE in Post-compulsory Education and has been teaching screen printing to all ages and abilities for over a decade. He exhibits his work regularly. Flo-Jo was founded in 2004 by Erika and Delia born from a love of textiles and sewing. Originally a clothing brand, named after their children Florence & Jonah, the Flo-Jo stall was a regular at festivals and markets in the South West. Their hand made ranges included children's wear, retro men and women's clothing as well their own range of underwear. In 2010 they started designing sewing kits, hosting sewing parties and teaching. Two years later they opened their own shop in Bristol. Situated on a busy independent street the shop & workshop has turned into their perfect creative space brimming with beautiful fabrics and haberdashery. They are very proud that 2016 saw the publication of their first book 'Knickers'

Small groups of children and young adults (5-8) will be transferred from Bristol’s schools and colleges using the charities minibus, for morning and afternoon sessions. They will be given up to 3-5 hours practical science teaching experience, in the form of exciting, brilliant projects with hands-on experience with advanced scientific instrumentation and with inspiring outcomes. The students will be supervised by at least two mentoring staff in both morning and afternoon sessions. The instruments and equipment will be on movable wheeled tables and will be operated in full compliance with health and safety regulations. Desks and chairs will also be provided. It is envisaged that no special alteration will have to be made to the building to conduct these safe scientific projects.
