Good Skills Training was set up in 2004 by Ian and Ruth Bodsworth, a mother and son duo who wanted to set up a training company that delivered ‘quality training at affordable prices’. What quality means to us is: Getting the course that is right for you – we will let you know if we feel there is something that meets your needs better … even if it is cheaper! Having training where you feel you have learnt something not just ticked the box. Enjoying your training … this is very important to us, we are passionate about ensuring that the learner has actually enjoyed being there as this helps with the whole learning experience. Excellent admin staff, from helping you book the course, to getting out confirmations making sure the trainer has everything they need (and know where they are going) and making sure you get the post course paperwork, certificates and follow up you require. Today we have 4 directors (all Bodsworth’s!) backed up with office admin staff and trainers who all work together to deliver this excellent service. All of our instructors are professionally qualified and regularly monitored.

Encouraged as a small child by an artistic mother, I always sketched family members and pets, being able to capture a good likeness. From school through to college, my ability to draw became apparent and was recognised throughout my home town of Colchester in Essex. I had taken to pastels after years of painting in watercolour. The transition happened when working on a portrait….. "With watercolours I couldn't keep the smooth texture of the skin and the more I worked at it, the rougher the 'skin' got. Frustrated, I picked up a box of pastels that I'd had from college and almost closed my eyes as I chalked over the face I'd been working on for hours, cringing with the fear of having to throw the whole picture in the bin…. I smudged it over with my finger. The result was amazingly smooth and definitely 'skin' like. I put away the watercolours and invested in many shades of quality pastels". In 1997 and keen to enter into the art world, I offered my services to organisations to produce promotional portraits which came with good media coverage and helped my business catapult within its first year. I was introduced to various artists and teachers and was offered a place to work alongside Royal portrait artist Richard Stone who had admired my work through the local press. In 2003 I took up teaching art within local clubs and private classes, holding exhibitions and encouraging 11 to 16 year olds to develop their artistic talents with workshops using different mediums. From 2008, I had the immense pleasure of working with Colchester Zoo in Essex when I became their Artist in Residence. From holding art classes in the Zoo and working with children during the school holidays to portray their favourite animals, one of my greatest adventures was to work closely with the Zoo's great managerial team on their 'Stand Tall' project for their 50th anniversary. This saw many local artists give up their time to design and create personal works of art on 2.5m giraffe sculptures. These were then displayed around Colchester and even took a tour to London's South Bank before they came back to the Zoo for auction. It was with much excitement to see one of my giraffes (Big Catrina) sell to the highest bidder at £6800. Developing very unique drawing skills, I have helped students from all over the world with many varying art abilities to accomplish their artistic dreams. With a limited palette of chalks, and a vast experience in pastel application, my teaching took me to places I hadn't even dreamed of. Constantly moving forward and learning new ways to pass on my skills, I would say that teaching students of all ages is in my blood now. It has become a passion to show others the beauty of this versatile medium.

Experienced Training Ltd provides customised learning solutions. This includes e-Learning, face to face training and online webinars.I’m Chris, I have been a trainer for over 20 years. In that time I’ve pretty much done it all in training. I’ve facilitated over 10000 delegates in face-to-face sessions, won an award from the department of health for eLearning and of late, I’ve been providing train-the-trainer consultancy to existing NHS training teams to improve their face to face, remote delivery and eLearning training methods. I’m Lisa, for many years I was the National Retail Office Manager of a clothing company until the lockdown forced redundancy. As Chris often receives multiple offers of work, I decided to help out Chris with eLearning projects and have completed two large projects for Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust and was made the preferred supplier of all eLearning by the Trust. Like Chris, I make sure I complete an online course every week and keep my skills up to date.

Little Yoga Studio aims to empower children and adults, in mind and body, through a fun, creative and inspiring approach to yoga. My children’s classes focus on exploring a child’s natural flexibility. Improving their own strength and poise, while helping them nurture a strong sense of self and awareness of others. The journey isn’t dissimilar with my adult classes. With each class, we work on bringing inner harmony through movement, breath and meditation. Uniting the body, mind and spirit to awaken our true Self. My teaching journey began shortly after the birth of my daughter. Having practiced yoga for 10 years, I found motherhood gave me a new perspective. Wanting to deepen my practice, I found myself taking to the mat in between my classes. And as I moved through poses or paused in meditation, I noticed her watching with curiosity. Before long she was on my mat, copying the poses and demanding more ‘mummy yoga.’ Soon she had her own mat (in her favourite colour, purple, of course) and we were practicing yoga together daily. Really I have her to thank for setting me on this path. As watching her little character flourish in our practices together has inspired me to share this with both little and bigger minds alike. My 200-hr training with Avani Yoga Academy and Yoga Bananas means I am now honoured to share the ancient practice of yoga in an authentic and heartfelt way to adults, children and families alike. Of course yoga is a lifelong journey that is forever evolving. I am honoured to continue my own discovery with a 50-hour Yoga Nidra Immersion with Avani Yoga Academy and Naomi Absalom’s 6-month Liberate mentorship, among others.
