Our mission is to change the world – one girl at a time. Rites for Girls trains women to mentor girls right through their adolescence and to facilitate girls’ groups.  In Girls Journeying Together groups preteen girls prepare for puberty and learn how to take charge of their emotional, social, and mental well-being. This guidance continues through their teenage years.  Our Facilitators also support their mothers as the girls journey through this pivotal phase.  Our Girls’ Net groups provide guidance and camaraderie through times of challenge to small groups of same-age girls (aged 8-18) in weekly online sessions.  Our Mentors offer tools for coping well and the girls access their inner resources while also realising that they’re not alone.  We train women to become the woman they needed in their lives when they were young.  And together we make growing up for girls an easier, safer, and better supported journey.

We are an inclusive dance company that has been based at Bishops Down Primary School since 2016. Our inclusive classes are open to anybody who loves or wants to dance and be creative. We are delighted to have formed a well-established group of dancers and over time we have seen them flourish and grow from strength to strength. At ‘This Is Us’, we work very hard throughout each session to make sure all children are growing in confidence and independence, and have the opportunity to be themselves. We run in association with Stopgap Dance Company as one of their IRIS syllabus youth groups. This is a specialised inclusive syllabus to allow our dancers to work towards an end goal as well as develop their dance and social skills. Dance Teacher Hannah has worked for several years in a number of professional Contemporary companies, including that of Stopgap, and has gathered all that she has learned to create her own unique style of inclusive teaching to allow children to feel proud of who they are.

We are the experts in recreational gymnastics teaching and welcome any Club, School or individual to share in our learning resources and training programmes. NRG Training Courses and supporting resources have been developed to address the growing demand for coaching professionals in the sport. This demand is not for high performance coaching, but for a new style of coaching specifically aimed at meeting the needs of recreational gymnasts, which has been growing exponentially in recent years. The demand for gymnastics has increased in Britain by 42% since the 2012 Olympics. This is great news for the sport, but at the same time has highlighted a very real challenge, namely where and how to accommodate all these eager participants. Gymnastics Clubs are overflowing with huge waiting lists, and there are a finite number of purpose-built centres. The NRG Coaching programme has been carefully developed over a number of years to equip sports providers with the knowledge and tools to effectively coach and lead recreational, mixed ability, mixed age gymnastics classes in any number of environments, not just those specifically built for gymnastics. This pathway fully and safely explores the techniques and skills of gymnastics, still allowing able gymnasts to develop to their full potential, but approaches it from a recreational standpoint where fun, and personal challenge are the key objectives. There is no need for specific gymnastic apparatus, simply an open space, and some very basic, generic apparatus, found in most leisure facilities and educational centres. Our courses provide a professional pathway for individuals, and sports providers who are interested in training to deliver recreational gymnastics, and schools, wanting to enhance their delivery of gymnastics in PE. Our programme allows successful candidates to start delivering gymnastics independently on completing Award 1. Click on our Courses page for full details including cost and content. Our coaching awards are particularly suited to those: Working with mixed ability and mixed age groups. Working in non purpose-built environments where equipment is limited. Have an interest in the sport, but may not necessarily come from a gymnastics background. Where there is a desire to build a strong and lasting pool of recreational gymnasts. Amala (formerly known as Sky School) was conceived in 2017, in response to the gap in quality education provision for displaced youth. Our name is inspired by the Arabic word for hope, which our education embodies. We believe that young refugees - as all people - have a right to quality education. Yet, fewer than one in three refugees are able to complete their secondary education and only 6% are able to access higher education. In 2016, Amala co-founders Mia and Polly were working on a prestigious scholarship; the programme admitted refugees to schools around the world to complete their upper secondary education. They found that for every scholarship place available, hundreds of promising applicants were turned away. Their subsequent research showed that there were few educational opportunities available for refugee youth aged 16-25, many of whom are forced to drop out of educational systems due to the barriers they face. The idea for Amala was born: to provide transformational learning programmes for displaced youth and their host communities to improve their lives today and open up opportunities for the future. Amala has two key programmes: The Amala High School Diploma, the first high school diploma designed for and with refugee youth, and Changemaker Courses in areas such as Peace-building, Ethical Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship. Amala’s curriculum has been developed with the support of our educational partner UWC South East Asia, one of the largest international schools in the world with an expertise in values-based curriculum development, and led by UWCSEA’s former Director of Teaching and Learning Stuart MacAlpine, in collaboration with refugee youth and 150 educators. Amala learning focuses on the development of learner agency as well as competencies that enable learners to make change in their lives and communities. Amala learning is delivered through a blended learning model and in light of Covid-19 many courses have been adapted to an online model. Amala programmes are delivered both directly by Amala and in collaboration with partners whose missions are aligned to our own. Through collaborating with partners we have been able to bring transformational education to refugees in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
