The Surrey School of Reflexology is an affiliated school of the Professional Reflexology Association. All reflexology courses, including CPD, are accredited with the International Federation of Reflexologists. Previously known as the European School of Healing and Complementary Medicine, we relaunched ourselves twelve years ago and now offer much more of what we are best at – training Reflexologists and providing Postgraduate Workshops and short Courses. Referred to as CPD, these trainings are not only for Reflexologists but all Professionals of Complementary Therapy. Established in 1995, Reflexologists have graduated from our school with our recognised qualification for 27 years and are now working in many different establishments including the NHS, and also in countries around the world. Once qualified from this school you will be able to work as a professional reflexologist in any position offered and in any country where reflexology is legal. The school is run by Nina Pearson who is the Principal. She has been a qualified, practicing, Reflexologist for over 30 years and is a Fellow of the International Federation of Reflexologists, Member of the Professional Reflexology Association, and has been awarded Lifetime Membership to the Association of Reflexologists. All tutors are established practitioners with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Business studies are taught by a qualified Accountant. Our students are encouraged to attain the highest standards as therapists so that they can work with competence and integrity second to none. We also pride ourselves in being able to support the learning of those with Dyslexic tendencies. Our students are all ages and from all walks of life. The teaching of the courses has been designed with this consideration in mind, and so classes and workshop groups are kept small and informal to allow for individual attention and guidance. The Surrey School of Reflexology is based in SUTTON Surrey on the borders with South London, 5 minutes walk from Carshalton Beeches BR station and 15 minutes walk from Sutton BR station. Direct trains from Victoria, London Bridge and Clapham Junction. There are a number of bus routes close by. Free parking easily available in local roads. We are a “NO FUSS” school – the important bit is the quality of teaching and producing confident well-educated therapists; our prospectus is not fancy and a majority of communication with students is done using email. This means that we can keep the costs of our courses and workshops down. NB………….Complementary Therapy is a HANDS-ON profession and it important that your training is also HANDS-ON. Coming to a class with other students not only provides support from your peer group but direct communication with your tutor and of course that all important guidance with practice of the routine and class discussions. After qualifying, your client will look to you for support and class experience then becomes invaluable.

We are the experts in recreational gymnastics teaching and welcome any Club, School or individual to share in our learning resources and training programmes. NRG Training Courses and supporting resources have been developed to address the growing demand for coaching professionals in the sport. This demand is not for high performance coaching, but for a new style of coaching specifically aimed at meeting the needs of recreational gymnasts, which has been growing exponentially in recent years. The demand for gymnastics has increased in Britain by 42% since the 2012 Olympics. This is great news for the sport, but at the same time has highlighted a very real challenge, namely where and how to accommodate all these eager participants. Gymnastics Clubs are overflowing with huge waiting lists, and there are a finite number of purpose-built centres. The NRG Coaching programme has been carefully developed over a number of years to equip sports providers with the knowledge and tools to effectively coach and lead recreational, mixed ability, mixed age gymnastics classes in any number of environments, not just those specifically built for gymnastics. This pathway fully and safely explores the techniques and skills of gymnastics, still allowing able gymnasts to develop to their full potential, but approaches it from a recreational standpoint where fun, and personal challenge are the key objectives. There is no need for specific gymnastic apparatus, simply an open space, and some very basic, generic apparatus, found in most leisure facilities and educational centres. Our courses provide a professional pathway for individuals, and sports providers who are interested in training to deliver recreational gymnastics, and schools, wanting to enhance their delivery of gymnastics in PE. Our coaching awards are particularly suited to those: Working with mixed ability and mixed age groups. Working in non purpose-built environments where equipment is limited. Have an interest in the sport, but may not necessarily come from a gymnastics background. Where there is a desire to build a strong and lasting pool of recreational gymnasts. Amala (formerly known as Sky School) was conceived in 2017, in response to the gap in quality education provision for displaced youth. Our name is inspired by the Arabic word for hope, which our education embodies. We believe that young refugees - as all people - have a right to quality education. Yet, fewer than one in three refugees are able to complete their secondary education and only 6% are able to access higher education. In 2016, Amala co-founders Mia and Polly were working on a prestigious scholarship; the programme admitted refugees to schools around the world to complete their upper secondary education. They found that for every scholarship place available, hundreds of promising applicants were turned away. Their subsequent research showed that there were few educational opportunities available for refugee youth aged 16-25, many of whom are forced to drop out of educational systems due to the barriers they face. The idea for Amala was born: to provide transformational learning programmes for displaced youth and their host communities to improve their lives today and open up opportunities for the future. Amala has two key programmes: The Amala High School Diploma, the first high school diploma designed for and with refugee youth, and Changemaker Courses in areas such as Peace-building, Ethical Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship. Amala’s curriculum has been developed with the support of our educational partner UWC South East Asia, one of the largest international schools in the world with an expertise in values-based curriculum development, and led by UWCSEA’s former Director of Teaching and Learning Stuart MacAlpine, in collaboration with refugee youth and 150 educators. Amala learning focuses on the development of learner agency as well as competencies that enable learners to make change in their lives and communities. Amala learning is delivered through a blended learning model and in light of Covid-19 many courses have been adapted to an online model. Amala programmes are delivered both directly by Amala and in collaboration with partners whose missions are aligned to our own. Through collaborating with partners we have been able to bring transformational education to refugees in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Is it merely to pass exams so we can get to the top schools and universities? Is it to enable us to further our careers? Or is it to help us become well-rounded, independent thinking, confident individuals who are then able to take a full part in society? “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” (Nelson Mandela) I don’t claim to have all the answers, but after more than twenty-one years as a teacher, in both, the maintained and the independent sector, (and eight years in the advertising and publishing industry prior to that), one thing is clear: We get one chance and one chance only at education, and teachers get one chance with us. I set up Millie-Whizz to provide an individual, holistic approach to teaching, to complement the excellent work teachers do in schools because sometimes this is not enough. It’s a numbers’ game, after all. The idea was not to provide tutorials which simply focus on doing paper after paper, question after question, in the hope that something would sink in. Millie Whizz is a tutoring service that explains the whys and hows so that pupils not only learn what method they should use to solve a particular problem, but they actually understand the reasoning and are therefore empowered to apply that knowledge. The ethos of Millie Whizz is based upon helping children and young adults to overcome difficulties in their learning so that achieve great results in their school work, their exams and in life. Sometimes it is their fear of learning; sometimes it is their lack of motivation; sometimes it is boredom and lack of inspiration. So it follows then that a person who is happy in their learning will want to learn more. This leads to success in all areas, not just in their education. Feeling successful gives us an enormous boost, which leads to increased happiness and ultimately, to freedom. So how can we apply this freedom to education? The knowledge and understanding pupils gain, empowers them to experiment with formulae and arguments so that they begin to question the “What if…?” Tutoring is not just for those who struggle, but it works equally well for those who need to be stretched in their thinking so that they reach their full potential. If you do what you’ve always done and in doing so, achieve the same level of success each time, wouldn’t you want someone to show you a more effective way of maximizing your results?
