Alesha’s Italian Masterclass is a journey through Italy – from language and grammar basics, through to insight into the famous Italian Dolce Vita (sweet way of life). You will embark on an Italian immersion course, and come out the other side with a superior knowledge of Italy’s culture and lifestyle - and be able to order your wonderful Margherita pizza and Chianti wine in the local language! The lessons are led by Alesha Allen, an Oxford University graduate of Italian and experienced teacher. My name is Paulina and I am master energy healer and teacher. Over the past 10 years I have trained to become fully qualified healing practitioner. I share my knowledge of energy healing techniques to support them in their own individual journeys.  I truly enjoy being a bridge between western and alternative medicine and I believe that through this practices we can greatly improve overall wellbeing and connect with ourselves on a deeper level which leads us to more happier, healthier and balanced life.

Unlike other recruitment agencies, Future Education started as a passion project and was founded in 2001 by a former Primary School Head Teacher, Derek Attwell and his wife Mary, a former youth worker. Being well connected within the teaching community, Derek and Mary had heard many complaints from their peers about the pressures of recruiting within local schools and thus Future Education was born. The business today has grown from a small shed to a local, double storey office with 3 divisions. In homage to the companies humble early beginnings, the boardroom is now appropriately named “the shed” as a reminder of how far the Attwell’s have come.

I started life as a primary class teacher with a scraped Grade VII piano and ‘O’ Level music as my only musical background. I was soon given the task of teaching music throughout a school of 4-8 year olds and realised I did not have the skills or knowledge to be able to do this effectively. My wise headteacher sent me on a Kodály course and my world started to change… Now, after many years of learning from amazing teachers, I am passionate about this wonderful, structured, joyful way to teach and to learn musical skills, knowledge and understanding – it is my raison d’être! I grew up with the unshakeable belief that I was ‘not musical’ – because I was never a good pianist, I couldn’t do aural tests, or sight-sing, or write a dictation; theory never made much sense to me. I perceived that ‘performance’, ‘aural’ and ‘theory’ were three separate entities. It was only Kodály study that made me realise that they are all interconnected and also part of this whole wonderful thing called ‘music’. It also unlocked all the music that was inside me and which I never knew was there. My passion is bringing musical skills, knowledge and understanding to a huge variety of people – to children; to adults who are both professional or amateur musicians; to both specialist and generalist teachers. I have realised that Kodály musicianship has so much to offer a vast range of people, including choral singers, class teachers and professional players. A particular interest in recent years has been discovering the benefits of Kodály musicianship to those working in different styles and genres, including pop, electronic music and modern a cappella singing.

We are an inclusive dance company that has been based at Bishops Down Primary School since 2016. Our inclusive classes are open to anybody who loves or wants to dance and be creative. We are delighted to have formed a well-established group of dancers and over time we have seen them flourish and grow from strength to strength. At ‘This Is Us’, we work very hard throughout each session to make sure all children are growing in confidence and independence, and have the opportunity to be themselves. We run in association with Stopgap Dance Company as one of their IRIS syllabus youth groups. This is a specialised inclusive syllabus to allow our dancers to work towards an end goal as well as develop their dance and social skills. Dance Teacher Hannah has worked for several years in a number of professional Contemporary companies, including that of Stopgap, and has gathered all that she has learned to create her own unique style of inclusive teaching to allow children to feel proud of who they are.
