H Any activity set up is designed to be enjoyed together By giving your little one 15 minutes of your undivided time you will open up opportunities for so much discussion and happiness. (If appropriate and safe to do so, after that 15 minutes your child can enjoy it independently) A Not all activities will be a success straight away, your little one may need some time to get used to the ‘new’ activity. Never just pack away, leave it out and come back to it. P Timing is EVERYTHING. Never plan an activity when your little one is tired or hungry. This will never go to plan. P2 For any ‘messy play’ get yourself a large double fitted sheet. Place a chair leg/ table leg/ large soft animal into each corner. This will create a space to keep the mess in! Bill is chairman of The Education Partnership, which has for the past twenty years provided a truly comprehensive range of governance and compliance expertise to schools, colleges, and outdoor education activity centres. He was previously a Head Teacher of all-age boarding and day schools in the maintained and independent sectors, including those for children with complex learning and behavioural needs. Bill works with proprietors and Head Teachers in preparation for and following up inspections by Ofsted (Education and Social Care) and ISI (Regulatory Compliance and Education Quality). His expertise in this area covers NMS, RSS, dual registration, initial registration, final registration and material change. Bill also works with schools judged as “inadequate” by Ofsted or “unsatisfactory” by ISI, helping them to achieve “good”, “outstanding” and “excellent” Ofsted or ISI outcomes. Bill is approached by an increasing number of proprietors, chairs of trustees and headteachers, who find themselves in challenging circumstances. This includes schools that have received a warning notice from the Department for Education due to their failure to meet the Independent School Standards Regulations (ISSR) and/or the National Minimum Standards (NMS) for boarding and residential special schools. Consistently, these schools see improvements at subsequent inspections. Currently, Bill is undertaking a longitudinal study of independent proprietorial schools, examining the governance implications of compliance and external inspection outcomes. To this end, we are looking for proprietorial schools in England for whom we could undertake a free of charge one-day compliance health check in return for participating in a confidential semi-structured interview on this subject at the end of the day. Peter Reznikov has dedicated his entire professional life to excellence in education. After graduating from Moscow State Linguistic University in 1991, he was invited to work in the UK as a teacher of Russian and in the same year he opened his educational consultancy PRINCE (Peter Reznikov International Centre for Education) which, for more than 25 years, has been helping children from all over the world gain access to the UK’s leading private schools, colleges and universities. Throughout his 25 year career in British education, Peter has taught in various private and state schools teaching both boys and girls. In 1998 he became the Head of the Russian Department at Eton College, the first Russian national to do so in the prestigious school’s 575 year history. In his 17 years at the helm of the Russian department at Eton (1998-2015) the number of students studying Russian rose from just 13 to 130. More than 50 of them successfully gained a place at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, as well as other leading Universities in the UK, USA, France, Holland and Germany. Peter also worked for the London Examination Board (currently EDEXCEL) for over 10 years, starting as a script-marker and becoming a Principal Examiner setting papers and overseeing the marking teams, as well as monitoring the overall quality and comparability of the GCSE and A-level Russian examinations which are widely used in the UK and in British schools abroad. Peter is the author of a number of Russian teaching materials and articles on Russian language, literature and cinema. He has co-authored several Russian text-books which are widely used by teachers and students in the UK and abroad. He has made appearances on Russian and British television, Internet, radio and other mainstream media sources on a variety of educational issues. He actively follows the rapidly-changing world of educational thinking and policy, regularly visits different schools, colleges and Universities in the United Kingdom and other countries and his PRINCE continues to provide educational services to people from over 20 countries.

After graduating with a 2.1 BA Hons in Marketing and Business Studies, I qualified as a teacher and taught Maths, English, Music, Science and Business Studies in a Secondary State School. S6 Tutoring is a private limited company in the education sector, dedicated to tutoring and mentoring young people. The company is young and vibrant and is the choice for parents who want their children to maximise their academic potential. Our vision is to play a pivotal role in improving academic standards. The company provides an initial, honest, home assessment that will accurately evaluate a child’s need. Each tutor is CRB checked and has qualifications and experience relevant to the role. The University’s distinctive philosophy is to ‘educate in the round’ – mind, body and spirit – in the quest for Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Liverpool Hope University is distinctive in that it is the only university foundation in Europe (and the USA) where Catholic and Anglican colleges have come together to form an integrated, ecumenical, Christian foundation. It has happened in Liverpool and nowhere else in Europe largely because of the presence in the 1980s of two remarkable church leaders: Bishop David Sheppard, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, and Archbishop Derek Worlock, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese that extends from Liverpool across the north of England. They confessed their faith to each other and took their congregations to visit each other’s cathedrals, a symbolic act of Christians working together in the context of northern Irish religious sectarianism. When the three colleges (St Katharine’s 1844, Notre Dame College 1856 and Christ’s College 1964) came together the name ‘Hope’ was adopted came from Hope Street that links both cathedrals - a living parable of what can happen when Christians unite and work together for the common good. This year we celebrate 175 years since the founding of our first college in 1844; in that year there were only six universities in England (two of them medieval) but all of them did not admit women, Catholics or Jews. The founding colleges of Liverpool Hope University were among the first few institutions to begin opening up higher education to the vast majority of England’s population. The Anglican Bishops of Liverpool, going back to the founding Bishop, Bishop Ryle, were all evangelicals. The friendship of the Anglican Bishop and the Catholic Archbishop was largely based on both their sharing of a mutual faith and their commitment to the poor. This adherence to historic Christian faith remains the university’s own commitment as it seeks to live out that faith in its life and work in a secularised British academy. At the beginning of each academic term we hold a Foundation Service to restate our foundational mission and values. Our Graduation ceremonies are held in alternating years in both the Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals in Liverpool.The new name of Liverpool Hope University was chosen to represent the ecumenical mission of the Institution.
