Hi, I’m Lucy Branton, owner and founder of Dogholics, and for as long as I can remember I have adored animals, in particular dogs and horses. I have spent my life in training and caring for them. My first dog as an adult was a Sher Pei, at the time the vet told me I had acquired one of the most difficult breeds to train. This didn’t put me off and within a few short months, me and my Shar-Pei Louie were performing in an obedience display team with the Hull Dog Training Club, achieving gold standards in training. My next Shar-Pei became adept at agility, obedience, and rally, even running alongside a horse! Having a natural affinity with dogs and training, I soon set up a local dog training club, as a hobby, it wasn’t long before this became a well-used enterprise. I had to face it I was addicted to dogs! I knew the only way I could get my fix for my addiction was to turn it into a profession and took up dog grooming. I quickly achieved City & Guilds introduction levels locally, then taking further training in London, proving to be natural I achieved distinctions and merits, passing the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. I still wasn’t satisfied and started teacher training, later becoming employed at the Hull College where I originally trained. All of this has led me to want to help others, who like me love their dogs. To help dog owners and their dogs realise their potential, creating a space where dogs and their owners can come together, learn and build amazing bonds with each other. There is no love more addictive than a dog’s love and as dog owner all we ever want to do is to give them back the same love they give us. Here at Dogoholics our mission is: To help all dog owners learn how to care for their dogs in the right way giving them back the love and loyalty they so freely give to us every day of their lives!

I completed my UK pilates training and certification with Body Control Pilates (BCP) in 2000, BCP is one of the leading education providers for Pilates teacher training and the most significant professional Pilates organisation outside the USA. I established Pilates in Dulwich in the same year. Committed to my ongoing development, I also undertook advanced studies at Kane School of Core Integration in New York under the tutelage and mentorship of Kelly Kane, one of the most highly regarded and experienced Pilates educators and therapists in the USA. In 2009 I qualified as an osteopath, and completed extensive postgraduate studies including cranial and classical osteopathy, women’s health and training in paediatrics at the world famous Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy in London (aka Osteopathic Centre for Children – OCC). My extended pilates clinical work is influenced by all of these factors some of which have organically integrated into my current evolving non-purist practice, which is underpinned by comprehensive training and certification, and lifelong professional development. I have worked in several highly regarded London clinics to enhance my practice and established my own osteopathic practice to compliment my existing Pilates work. I currently divide my time between private osteopathic practice, teaching Pilates, running community-based first aid training, clinical tutoring, developing, writing and delivering specialist lectures/workshops/courses and completing heaps of continual professional development (CPD) each year.

The School of Education at the University of Leicester is one of the largest in the UK and has a long-standing reputation for teaching, research and professional development. Formed in 1962, our many years of experience have allowed us to develop effective programmes and training provision, designed to meet our students' needs. We provide programmes for all phases of the study of education, from initial teacher training to advanced research degrees. Our courses offer experienced professionals the opportunity to obtain further qualifications through various learning methods, full-time and part-time taught courses, distance learning and by research. We are a group of teachers, musicians and technologists who specialise in composition, improvisation and performance using iPads. Ben Sellers and Travis Snyder began running music workshops with iPads in a Hackney community centre in 2011, developing an approach that combined outstanding musical outcomes with implicit development of musicianship and theory. They transferred this approach to both formal mainstream and SEND/ALN contexts, codifying their methods into what became the 2014 textbook ‘Teaching Music with Garageband for iPad’, and a popular teacher training scheme. In 2016, Travis returned to California to become the head of Assistive Technology for the San Francisco District School Board. 2017 saw the publication of several new resources, including a second edition of the Garageband textbook and an increased focus on training partnerships with Music Education Hubs. Since 2018 we have gained an increasingly strong reputation as SEND/ALN specialists, working with MEHs up and down the country to improve provision through co-delivery and bespoke training and resources, including a complete ‘SEN/D Curriculum’ with Leicester-Shire Music Service, and a set of projects for the Charanga education platform. We were nominated twice in the 2019 ‘Music Teacher Awards for Excellence’. Though our reputation has grown, we remain a small and focussed team, working hard to develop in young people the skill, desire and drive to use music to enhance their lives.
