Our charity, BHA For Equality (BHA)’s aim is to challenge and address health and
social care inequalities and to support individuals and communities to improve
their health and wellbeing. BHA (BHAF, Black HIV/AIDS Forum) was started in 1990
and was formed from a grassroots movement set up in response to the lack of HIV
information and services for Black communities in Manchester. It was developed
to ensure that Black communities had access to accurate and culturally
appropriate information on HIV. BHA further developed to advocate for the
delivery of health and care services for Black and ethnic minority communities
at local, regional and national level. BHA now runs funded projects for Black
and ethnic minority communities and those who are marginalised or disadvantaged
across the North West and Yorkshire.
