We offer support and encouragement in living, social and practical skills to enable people with learning and physical disabilities to enjoy independent lifestyles. Who We Are Enable (Sheffield) is a charity based training organisation for people with disabilities. Our aim is to offer a quality care and training opportunities to meet their individual needs. Our training areas deliver themed subjects and topics relevant to suit our learner’s abilities and skills. First opening for business in 1994, with the intention to make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Sheffield. From the offset we have always involved our learners in the decision making process, and this is, we believe, the key to our success. Enable (Sheffield) has grown to become a well established and renown training provider for disabled adults in Sheffield, but began life in very humble beginnings. Founder Alan Finchett rented a room in a local school, for disabled adults from the area to use, initially repairing and recycling toys and bikes but gradually more activities were added to the schedules. Within a year, with more learners attending, space was getting tight so it was soon time to move to bigger premises. Skip along 8 years and demand was so great for places that work started on our purpose built building. Exactly 10 years after starting, Enable was ready to move into their new home. The centre has been designed specifically to meet the demands of disabled people, offering a bright, spacious learning place for all.

The work of The HIVE helps local children realise what kind of adults they can be. It is not good enough to apply sticking plasters onto vulnerable adults without having first attempting to guide and nurture young people who dare to dream of better lives for themselves. Mark’s Story Mark had huge problems at school. He had little social skills to be able to cope with learning and as a result was unfocussed and behaved aggressively. He was at real risk of exclusion. The team at The HIVE encouraged his involvement in Croydon Children’s University™. Mark has been a success story, wanting to come to the activities, wanting to learn and build up his points. Both school and his parent’s say Mark’s participation in Croydon Children’s University™ has made a huge difference to both his behaviour and the way he is now able to cope with all that life throws at him. He is no longer at risk of exclusion from school.

With high quality care and support, we believe everyone can achieve their dreams and aspirations. Condover College was founded by someone who simply wanted the very best opportunities for his son. In 2004, Steve McGill’s son Matthew was studying at Condover Hall School in Shrewsbury, which was run by the Royal National Institute for the Blind. When the RNIB announced the school was under threat of closure, Steve stepped in. He was on the board of governors at the time and put in a bid to lease the site for an initial ten years. Though we started with just our educational centre and three residential schemes, we now have 12 residential schemes, Short Breaks at our Greenfields scheme and an Opportunities Programme which enables our learners to fulfil their greatest aspirations. We believe our success is due to putting our learners first, always aiming for excellence and remaining focused on meeting individual needs. This ethos is reflected in our business structure. We’re a charity exempt from registration under the Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies Act, so we’re not about making money for shareholders. We put everything back into the people we support. Sadly, our founder Steve passed away in 2014. Today we are still honouring his passion and commitment in providing the best possible care and opportunities for all.

Before I discovered the life-changing magic of mindset work, I had a busy career in finance. But I felt bored and unfulfilled. It was like my life had very little meaning. Every week I would have meeting after meeting with traders and portfolio managers, and it was soul-sucking – just mind-numbingly bland. I felt dead inside. It made me question whether this is all life would ever be. Then I started exploring mindset work, and I realised this was my true calling. I quit my job in finance and started coaching women who felt just like me and who were ready to make changes to their lives. I’ve lived all over the world – half-French and half-Belgian, I was born in Tokyo, and spent my childhood in Dusseldorf, Johannesburg, Vienna and Hamburg. I studied in Boston and then moved to London. Now I live in Brighton, on the south coast of England, with my family. Everywhere I’ve lived, I’ve met women with the same problems. Feeling stuck, struggling with self-doubt, and despairing about making lasting, meaningful change to their lives. After working so hard to change my own mindset and finding success with my business, I’m passionate about helping other female business owners to grow their confidence, discover their inner power and take meaningful action. St Benedict's is a comprehensive secondary school of about 740 boys and girls aged from 11 to 18 years. The school serves the Catholic communities of West Suffolk and Thetford and gives priority for admissions to children who are baptised Catholics, but has always welcomed others who wish to gain from and participate in the Christian life of the school. St. Benedict’s is situated on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds and is readily accessible by car or public transport. The school has six acres of playing fields and the accommodation is spacious and under constant improvement. There are specialist suites for all subject departments. The School Library has been transformed into a Learning Resource Centre with the addition of a suite of computers. In addition to the Learning Resource Centre, there are 5 more dedicated Computer suites, making St. Benedict’s one of the best-equipped schools for ICT in the area. Remodelling the School Hall enhances our facilities for Sport, Drama and Worship, as does the addition of a Fitness Studio to enhance sport and promote healthy lifestyles. Special Needs provision is excellent, and based in a new Learning Support area. Recent extensions and improvements have included an All-weather surface for tennis, hockey, netball and 5-a-side football, an additional science room, and the new classroom block which serves as a base for year 7 and 8. Art, Drama and Music flourish and, in spite of the schools relatively small size, success on the games field is notable.
