Being a boarder at Hereford Cathedral School is an incredibly exciting, rewarding, and enjoyable experience. Pupils who join the School will become part of one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious institutions with an exceptionally strong national and global reputation. Most likely founded in the 7th century, Hereford Cathedral School achieves outstanding examination success with pupils going onto study at the likes of Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL and many other leading universities. Pupils who join the School find a warm, friendly, and inclusive environment. With first class facilities, boarders can make full use of being in the very heart of a beautiful and ancient city, while similarly experiencing the breath-taking scenery and all of the benefits that the countryside has to offer. At weekends, boarders have a busy and enjoyable programme including an incredible range of activities such as quad biking, ice-skating, and crazy golf; they are routinely joined by teachers and day pupils on these outings, characteristic of the integrated nature of the School community. Boarders are also able to spend time completing their academic work, supported by members of the House team. Several of our boarders live in the UK and several come from overseas. Wilmot House is a global community which produces global citizens who will thrive in society. Having lived and worked in boarding schools for well over a decade, I believe that boarding provides transformative opportunities. Wilmot House offers a unique boarding experience which truly is home from home and where lifelong friendships will be made. We do hope that you will make a visit or speak to us further.

Paradice Ice Rink Avondale

paradice ice rink avondale

PARADICE A BRIEF HISTORY One day in the early 1970’s Ross Blong, a farmer with imagination as it turned out, came home from a particularly unpleasant milking and told his wife Nell he had enough and wanted to find something different to do! After searching for a “people business” they decided on an ice skating rink in Glen Innes and purchased it in 1974. After a steep learning curve they established Paradice on the map as a great family entertainment facility in Auckland. By 1980 they had dreams of building New Zealand’s first international size indoor arena and had it up and running by May 1981 at our current Avondale location at Lansford Cresent. It has been popular ever since with families and as a “hang out” for teens and young adults. There have been several transformations since its opening with the most recent being completed in 2011 to include a state of the art ice floor, dasher boards and refrigeration system. By the late 1990’s the second family generation having being heavily involved in ice sports at an international level dreamed of a second, Olympic sized indoor ice rink, again a first for New Zealand, and it was built in 1999 at its current location Botany Downs. The rink is still going strong today. In 2012 Paradice owned and operated Auckland’s first temporary outdoor ice rink at Aotea Square which has turned into an annual winter wonderland type event with the addition of NZ’s first event ice slide in 2014. Our temporary ice rinks have expanded to Rotorua, Wellington, and Taupo. Through the years Paradice has operated as a family, customer focused friendly business with staff sharing their passion for people and ice with innovation!

At the same time, I pass on my 20 years of experience in seminars and training courses. As the head and initiator, I have been leading the Institute for Health and Consciousness for 15 years. In addition to the diverse activities in my practice, I give seminars and fasting courses at home and abroad and train in various areas. My drive is: Allowing spaces for real healing devotion to man bring light into the dark Remembering what we really are. In my childhood and youth I was a competitive athlete in speed skating. Health problems, early contact with alternative medicine, martial arts, Eastern philosophies, spirituality and meditation and the early discovery of the healing abilities of my hands made me start training as a naturopath at the age of twenty. After successfully completing the alternative practitioner exam and numerous further training courses, I initially worked as a sales manager and trainer at an international wellness company. My inner call guided me to really live my calling as a naturopath, therapist and teacher. This is how the idea for the Institute for Health and Consciousness was born. I have been practicing meditation, qi gong, yoga and ways of conscious living for more than twenty-five years. As an expert in alternative medicine and energy work, I am always researching and teaching what I am from the bottom of my heart. As a father of 4 children and a self-employed entrepreneur, I have both feet on the ground and face the challenges of life. Being a naturopath by vocation and doing what I love.
