We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ellen Marsden as our new director of the Dorset Rural Music School. A former pupil of Chetham’s School of Music, Ellen graduated from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama as an Oboist, playing professionally for many years in leading orchestras in the UK and abroad; she was Principal Oboe of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville for five years, latterly becoming Principal Cor Anglais in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra where she remained for nine years. In 2009, Ellen was appointed Director of Music at Sherborne Preparatory School, she later progressed to become a freelance Creative Project Manager and Producer developing large scale Schools and Community projects in the South West. Ellen has been living in North Dorset since 2000 and knows the county and its musical scene well. We are delighted to have secured her services and are confident that she will lead DRMS forward into an exciting future without losing sight of our original aims and ethos.

We are passionate about Acting, Singing and Dance at The Performing Arts Theatre Academy. The Academy provides tuition in Drama, Singing, Musical Theatre and Dance and offers Trinity Speech and Drama, Trinity Musical Theatre, ABRSM Singing, RAD Ballet and BBO Tap and Modern Jazz and Acro examinations. The students also showcase their talents and achievements in the end of year Academy productions and local events and displays throughout the year in Blandford Forum and surrounding areas. Class sizes are limited to ensure each child gets the development and attention required to fulfil their potential. We have an initial 4 week trial for every new student, so they can really get a good feel for the class and the studio. Seth brings a wealth of experience holding heart-centered spaces. His in-depth studies, trainings, personal experiences of many therapeutic modalities such as Humanistic & Body Psychotherapy, the Human Potential Movement, 5 Rhythms, Active meditations and the teaching of the Indian Mystic Osho who he grew up with in India in the 1970s, infuse his approach to living a creative, holistic & embodied life and sharing his unique offerings with others. Seth has been facilitating regular workshops for many years. As a musician, Seth is very passionate about rhythm & drumming, has an MA in Community Music from Goldsmith College, worked as a world music percussion teacher in East London schools for almost 20 years, created URUBU collective back in 2009 as a Live Music Ecstatic Dance experience with Afro-Brazilian drummers & musicians and started his journey as an avid DJ with a love for Afro-Beat, Cuban and Brazilian music and created an Ecstatic Dance scene in London and the UK. Seth has a life-long passion for 5 Rhythms and other movement and Ecstatic Dance practices.
