The ground floor area houses reception, admissions, student support services, student funding, a coffee shop and common room. Starlight Academy is a dance and performance school based at The Dance Mill, a purpose built dance and fitness centre in Guiseley, Leeds, founded in 2008 by Melanie Hadfield-Walker and Christine Cade. We offer a full range of classes, helping to build confidence, strong dance technique and training for the stage. We have classes suitable for all age groups, from pre school to young adult. Exams can be taken in tap and modern though the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus classical ballet through the Associated Board of Dance (ABD) syllabus. Acro exams are offered through Acrobatic Arts, and Musical Theatre and Contemporary exams with ABD. Cheer classes following BGU. We are an accredited Acrobatic Arts school, offering Acro classes from age 5 with Miss Mel, who is one of only 5 UK Acrobatic Arts examiners and course conductors, or Miss Christine who holds her module 2 Acrobatic Arts qualification, or Miss Alison who holds her module 1 AA qualification. Other classes include Commercial Jazz, Musical Theatre, Singing, Contemporary, Lyrical, Showstars, Ballet Tots and Funky Monkeys, our specially designed Pre-school program.

The Michael Chekhov International Academy is the platform where, director and acting coach, Joerg Andrees shares his experiences, knowledge and developments of over 30 years of work with the Michael Chekhov Technique. Creative artists, actors, directors, performers or those who want to develop their creative potential in an artistic way are welcome to the work. Instead of merely polishing an already visible surface, this work focuses on letting a blossom grow from what was not visible before. For this purpose we work with the means that the Russian actor Michael Chekhov (1891 – 1955) developed for his acting. Instead of pushing emotions we use our own personal imagination to create inspired and intuitive artistic work. This academy offers: a Weekly drop-in class in Berlin open to everybody interested in the work, no experience necessary (Tuesdays, 8pm to 9.30pm at Mime Centrum, Mariannenplatz 2). an Intensive Training Course (7 one-week-long courses over one and a half years) with an option after completing the 7 weeks to complete Teacher Training in Courses 8, 9 and 10. Special Interest Courses such as: Chekhov for Camera, Atmosphere, Psychological Gesture, Imagination, Singing, Workshops Abroad, and Bespoke Workshops with Joerg Andrees.

Boundary Arts Centre is a Dance, Musical Theatre and Acrobatics Arts school based in Ashton Under Lyne. Providing classes from age 2 to Adults in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Commercial, Contemporary, Progressive Ballet Technique, Acrobatics Arts and Alixa Flexibility.We also provide private Music, Singing, Drama and Dance lessons. All of our classes are held at our BAC studios in Ashton and whilst you wait, you can take a seat in our cafe, have a bite to eat and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. (covid permitting) Boundary Arts Centre was established in April 2012 by Director, professional dancer and teacher Siobhan Pownall. We began in a small local studio in Audenshaw with only a couple of students in the class. The school expanded so much after a short few months that we moved into a slightly bigger premises and also opened up another venue in Ashton. In 2014 we had three different sites in Tameside until we decided to combine them all to one venue in Ashton Under Lyne which then created Boundary Dance Company. However, as we continue to expand our school and keep offering such a variety of classes we changed the name to Boundary Arts Centre. All students that are 5+ and take part in our prestigious government accredited RAD Ballet IDTA Tap exams and Acrobatic Arts exams. And students aged 3+ can participate in IDTA musical theatre exams. All students have the opportunity to take part in our annual showcase that will not only develop skills which assist in their personal development but also skills which could lead them onto a professional career, if they wish. We also take part in mini performances and competitions through out the year which we have been extremely successful in. We believe that hard work, discipline and determination are essential and we encourage all students to believe in themselves.

The School offers classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Drama, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Acro Tec, a form of gymnastic dance movement. All Classes are held at the Queensbury Methodist Church Hall, Beverley Drive, Edgware, Middlesex, HA8 5ND Currently, the syllabi of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) are studied in Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and Jazz. Students are coached for examinations from Pre-primary to Advanced level and are also given the opportunity for free expression and improvisation. The LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) syllabus is followed in the drama section. BSPA is a registered LAMDA examinations centre so we are now able to hold the exams at our school. During their time at the school, Students are given the opportunity to take part in School Shows, Boot Camps, Summer Schools, Theatre trips and events such as the London New Year’s Day Parade. The Beverley School of Dancing was founded in January 1961, offering classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Ballroom, to boys and girls from 3 years upwards. In 1999, the school changed its name to the Beverley School of Performing Arts, with Drama and Jazz classes being added to the curriculum. In 2009, due to popular demand, singing and street dance were added to compliment the full range of performing arts. In 2021, the school celebrated it’s 60th Anniversary. A memory book was presented to the founder Miss Pear, a Virtual Show was performed and a party with invited guests was held at the Queensbury Methodist Church Hall, where the School has held classes since 1961. 2022 promises to be yet another ground breaking year for the school, with student numbers increasing and exciting new classes being introduced.

Rachel and the team keep up to date with new research relating to music-play, music practice and early learning development. Kiddibops is passionate about using music to develop social interaction and communication skills and delivers bespoke intervention sessions to support children with SEN. Music is a significantly important tool in connecting with children who are non or pre-verbal and allows children with limited speech and language skills a way to communicate and express themselves using music as a protolanguage. Kiddibops is also a Dementia Friend and runs popular and successful Intergenerational Music Classes in local residential homes to support well-being and cognition in dementia patients. These classes also encourage the growth of beautiful relationships between residents and local families.

Born in the East End of London Valerie Masters was passionate about singing and entertaining even from the tiny age of 4 years old when people would ask her grandfather to hold her up to the microphone and sing. Her career started when she left school at 16 to join a well known Jazz Group, the Ray Ellington Quartet. She was auditioned by Dick Katz, the great pianist with the Group and who was awarded the title of Jazz Musician of the year in the 1960s and to whom Valerie later married. Valerie travelled with the quartet until she ventured on a solo career internationally . She had her own radio show on Radio Luxembourg, the Valerie Masters Show. She was voted Top Girl of the North East when she had the series "The One o'Clock Show" and the series "Young At Heart" with Jimmy Saville, starred in countless TV Shows and series and Sunday at Winchester with Jess Yates, and appeared at the London Paladium on several occasions. Valerie has appeared on film and TV and you would have seen and heard her in the series Secret Army, Seaside Special, the Singing Detective, the Wombles, the Faith Brown Show, the Stanley Baxter Show, Russ Abbott, Grace Kennedy and many others during the 1960s and 1970s. During her time as a solo artist and entertainer she sang with Quincy Jones in the Tivoli Gardens, Sweden and Denmark and many other famous names including Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, Cilla Black, Lulu, to name just a few. She Led the BBC team singing to come first in the Nordring Festival in 1983 with their Winning Show. She has also sung titles in many films including The Helion for John Hayman, who went on to work with Cubby Broccoli on the James Bond Films, Hobs Choice, The Wall with Bob Geldorf, Yentl with Barbara Streisand, Dutch girls with Timothy Spall and has also been heard on the TV singing American and British adverts/jingles such as Scottish Cheddar, Knorr Soups, Bangor Jeans, Tetley Teabags and many more, too numerous to mention! Since the passing of her husband Dick Katz Valerie is now married to the Property Owner and Theatrical Agent Tony Nunn the former great violinist. With her knowledge and experience of glamorous show business and changing fashions through the years and her absolute passion for jewellery, this enables and inspires her to come up with the most beautiful elegant designs. Her personality and flair shows through in each and every one of her designs and they are all made by her and her team with the utmost love and care as she throws her heart into them. Erin Whyte (founder and teacher) – I started my love of music at a young age and began classical training from the age of 14. After leaving school I went on to study popular singing at Jewel and Esk College on their HND Music course. During these 2 years I sang in bands and in choirs and my passion for performing was born. From here I went on to focus on my classical voice at Edinburgh Napier University where I studied on their BMus (hons) course for 4 years. I gained a lot of experience singing solo and in small groups which really helped build my self-confidence. I have worked with children for over 16 years, starting out shadowing a music teacher in primary schools. This is where I found my love for teaching music to young children. Knowing I wanted to work with children I left retail and started working at Newtongrange After School Club. From here I began working as a Learning Assistant at Stockbridge Primary School and worked at their After School Club. Following the birth of my son in 2014 I gave up work to be a full time Mum. With lots more free time I could take him to classes for little ones where I met some of my best friends, and Charlie did too. I found out how invaluable these classes were for both child and carer and realised that this was the environment I wanted to work in. In 2015 I became a teacher for Monkey Music. Here I learnt how to really work with babies and toddlers and grow relationships with them and their carers. My dream for a long time has been to combine my passions for singing, music and working with young children. With the arrival of our daughter Katie at the start of 2017 I am finally back to work and realising that dream. I think it’s highly important to have affordable and educational classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers in and around local areas, not only for the little ones to make friends, but for the adults to meet people from the community too. Music is a great tool to bring people together and also encourages self-confidence which is an important factor in a young person’s life.n

The first Wollaton Arts Festival was in 2016 with a 4 day event bringing creative arts opportunities to community spaces in Wollaton. We have since built on this to develop further creative experiences for people of all ages, through our Wollaton Art Space and extending the festival to 9 days of activities. We link with the local schools, artists, venues, groups and open spaces to create a diverse programme for all. There are opportunities for people to come together to share food, music, singing, drama, photography and varied creative art activities. We have been lucky enough to work with lots of artists and creative practitioners, as well as local community, culture, nature and heritage groups.
