Based on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border, Red Robin Dog Training offers force-free one-to-one training and behaviour solutions in NG16 and surrounding areas. My training ethos is based around positively reinforcing desired behaviours without the use of aversive methods, behaviour modification using the most up to scientific research into how dogs learn, and making training fun via the use of concept training and games. I have found play to be one of the most effective ways to improve the dog-human relationship, increase confidence and to create positive association for anxious or fearful dogs. I work with all breeds, from miniature Mexican Hairless and Chihuahuas to Boerboels and Bull Terriers. Puppies from 8 weeks and rescued street dogs from abroad, and I love them all. I am fully insured and qualified and my training is always ongoing to ensure I stay up-to-date. If you are looking for basic training for your puppy or adult dog, or find yourself struggling with any behavioural issues your dog may have such as jumping up, pulling on the lead, poor recall, lead reactivity towards other dogs, people, traffic or any other triggers, noise sensitivity, any anxiety-based behaviours, hyperactivity, separation distress, resource guarding or anything else, please get in touch. I offer force-free one-to-one puppy training, basic training for adult dogs, behavioural consultations and multi-session training packages. Following the pandemic, I continue to offer video consultations as an option for those who are shielding or may just prefer this to a face-to-face session.

Sometimes it is stressful to see some dogs listening to their owners when yours is not concentrating or barking at other dogs and pulling on the lead when taking your daily walk. Or you don’t understand why your dog does not come back to you when you call them, 5 times, 8 times, 10 times…… I feel your pain! Hi, my name is Tracey Ordish and I am the Owner/Head Trainer at Dishy K9 Care & Train. My family and I have all found a love of dogs through our own furry friend, a black Labrador named Joey whom we have had since he was a puppy. My husband Mike, (Dish or Dishy to his friends) has also had dogs in his family growing up and states that no home is complete without a furry companion! So True! We enjoyed learning with Joey at Puppy Classes and had the basic training covered…….or so we thought!! No-one told us that in a few months, Joey would be a teenage hoodlum!! Chewing carpets, not listening to the basic training we had learned together and literally turning our lives upside down! Were we wrong to bring a puppy into our lives?? Of course not, although it felt it at the time believe me! How my business was born - In late 2015 I needed to leave my admin job of 17 years to concentrate on helping my son with his anxiety and schooling issues. However, I needed to work to bring in some money. I needed to find a job from home so that I could continue helping him. After hearing a family member talk about Dog Day Care, a lightbulb moment happened! My son had stated that if it wasn’t for our dog, Joey, he didn’t know where he would be. So, what better way to help both our situations than bring more dogs into our home! So, I enrolled onto the Level 2 Dog Care Course with Progress Dog Training and Dishys K9 Care was born. Day care, walking and then Dog Boarding! Ever since starting the business in 2017, we have loved everything that dogs show us and how we need to understand them more. Don’t get me wrong, we have experienced lots of stressful issues with multi household dogs within our dog boarding service. Here are some examples. Can you relate?: 1. Barking and lunging towards other dogs or people whilst on lead! 2. Pulling so hard whilst on a walk that your arm feels sore and you feel that you have been taken for a walk, not the dog! 3. Growling or lashing out at other dogs or people, including most of the members of my family, when they have food or toys! 4. Jumping up to food on the sideboard in the kitchen and trying (or succeeding in) stealing the food! 5. Barking at every noise they can hear! These issues made me think in the beginning that they were just being naughty dogs. I was so wrong! Having this experience and having been on a journey of discovery into the world of dog training, I have realised how amazing dogs are and how we need to understand what they are telling us! We can help them achieve so much with kindness, understanding and positivity. Emotions, such as anxiety, are behind a lot of our dog’s behaviour’s therefore, just as I have with my son, we need to help them in their day to day lives . I enrolled with the Dunbar Academy and the Dog Training College in 2020 and I learned so much from the experts on their courses that I felt an overwhelming need to become a dog trainer!!! In September 2021 I graduated an intense 6 month course to become a Certified Dog Trainer with the Dog Training College and I took the brave step to focus on training full time! In February 2022, I passed all the assessments following a 3 month course with the Pet Professional Network and I am now a Distinctive Dog Trainer! In June 2022 I became a recognised Canine Reactivity Specialist with the Dog Training College! “Never Stop Learning, because life never stops teaching!” Purehappylife.com Having this experience, added knowledge and skills, I now understand Joey and the dogs who have boarded with us a whole lot better, and I feel that the need to help dog owners understand their dogs communication is one of the best rewards I can give them! ‘So, would you like to have a more enjoyable relationship with your furry one and to feel confident in helping them with their issues?’ ‘Are you ready to understand what your furry pal is telling you?’ Then contact me for more information and to begin your journey to a more positive life with your dog!

WHAT WE DO The Sourdough School is a research institute for the study of the nutrition and digestibility of bread. The school is run by Vanessa Kimbell – baker, best-selling author, a regular contributor to the BBC4 Food Programme, researcher and teacher. It is at the Sourdough School that we research, develop and create sourdough bread – but it is more than just bread, and it’s more than just a school. Over the last few years, the gut microbiome and its role in supporting digestion and our mental and physical health has been one of our main areas of research. HOW WE TEACH YOU TO MAKE SOURDOUGH The Sourdough Club is where we teach you how to make our amazing bread. It is the part of The Sourdough School where we share our recipes, tutorials, tips, lessons and support you so that you can learn how to make Sourdough where ever you are. WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT? Here at the school Vanessa and the team have taken the most up to date scientific findings and applied them to sourdough and other fermented foods, working towards our mission to scientifically prove that sourdough and gut-friendly nutritious food can have a positive impact on our physical and mental health. THE SCHOOL: The Sourdough School is more than a cookery school. It’s about sharing incredible scientific knowledge about the connection of bread and our gut microbiome. It’s supported by a network of medical professionals, scientists, wheat breeders, nutritionists, specialist bakers, researchers, academics and we’ve been pooling the research on sourdough & fermentation from all over the world into a central point. We develop recipes, techniques and formula’s as our aim is not just to study, but conduct our own research on formula’s & grains and fermentation and to share what we find. It’s about applying evidence and the practical application of fermenting and baking into delicious, affordable nutritious bread recipes to bake, to eat and to enjoy. The Sourdough School has featured in the 3 BEST courses in the UK in the Sunday Times and in The Telegraph top ten baking courses in the UK, as well being included in the London Evening Standard top course in the UK. Each year the Sourdough School has: Research and development workshops working on different themed areas from bread and guts, sourdough for non-coeliac gluten sensitivity, IBS, blood sugar management, sports and mental health. An annual week-long diploma focusing on in-depth analysis on bread and guts. Research study groups with renowned neuroscientists, wheat breeders, microbiologists, scientists and medical professionals. Her own research development kitchen applying the scientific findings about bread and fermented foods to create new bread formulas and recipes. A clinical study as part of her PhD working with De Montford University and baking innovation group Puratos. The school also has an online offering called the Sourdough Club where people can learn how to make sourdough online via in-depth video masterclasses hosted by Vanessa. Until easter this year our we held RCGP accredited for our nutrition and digestion of bread diploma. We decided not to renew our subscription to allow for longer courses that included more baking.

Founded on the basis of providing training to a standard, which we believe every learner deserves we ensure each course is tailored to your needs, we talk to you, listen to you and provide you with feedback for each learner. Osburn Training Academy is proud of the rich heritage surrounding the Osburn name. Having completed her studies under Florence Nightingale, Lucy Osburn was chosen to travel to Australia where she redefined the approach to nursing practice, her compassionate approach, impeccable nursing standards and pioneering drive inspired us to continue her legacy through training and educating others. In March 1868, Lucy-Osburn, with five other nursing sisters, arrived in Sydney to take charge of the Infirmary. They were sent by Florence Nightingale in answer to an appeal from Henry Parkes, Premier of New South Wales. A week later they had a royal patient, when the Duke of Edinburgh was wounded by a would-be assassin at Clontarf. But in spite of the public acclaim this brought them, Lucy Osburn and her staff faced a long fight with prejudice and ignorance in their efforts to reform the infirmary. The idea of gentlewomen working as hospital nurses was still novel, and to many people shocking; Lucy Osburn own father had turned her portrait to face the wall when she entered the Nightingale College of Nursing. Thwarted at every turn by suspicion and jealousy, even among the doctors, and by an inefficient system of management, Lucy Osburn battled on undaunted, for 16 years and eight months. Most of the Lucy Osburn sisters took up positions as matrons at various hospitals. By these means the Nightingale teaching and standards became accepted practice in the hospital system of the colony. By the time she returned to England she had laid the foundation of modern nursing in New South Wales, and Sydney Hospital was launched on its long and distinguished career of service to the community. After some years nursing among the sick and poor in London, Lucy died of diabetes at her sister’s home in Harrogate in 1891.
