Magic Acorns

magic acorns

Magic Acorns is an early years development organisation striving to co-create ground-breaking work with, and for, our very youngest children. Through collaborations with early years practitioners, artists and cultural organisations, we make extraordinary multi-sensory creations and training accessible to young children, artists, educators and the wider community, both in the UK and internationally. Magic Acorns is rooted in inclusion, offering spaces where children and families are cared for and nurtured through the arts. We are led by children’s imaginations and research, across multiple art forms - music, theatre, making, art and play. We create spaces - physical and virtual - where connections can be made, and where truly experimental work can be created. Magic Acorns believes that our youngest children should be able to access the very best in arts and culture. Magic Acorns encounters the world with children, learns what children can do from children, and learns what art can do by listening to children. We create aesthetic work, which is made for – and with – children under five. We forge connections and grow communities through the creation of inclusive, enriching and compassionate spaces, for children, parents, artists and educators. We foster collaboration between arts and cultural organisations, artists and educators. We support participation, developing skills through training, experimentation, exploration and reflection. We keep research at the heart of practice and develop deep thinking through theoretical approaches

Teddy's Playhouse

teddy's playhouse

We are two professional mums with backgrounds in performing arts who share a passion for early learning adventure and magic. When our toddlers were still in infant-hood we spent months attending classes for babies and toddlers hoping to find one that offered live music, performance and movement with a focus on language development and social awareness. We couldn’t find anything that matched our vision, so we decided to combine our skills and develop an unrivaled concept in early learning baby and toddler classes. Performing arts, a platform for early learning! It’s been proven in countless case studies that music aids in a child’s early development, but we were looking for something more than simply music classes, we were hoping to find classes that offered a platform to develop a child’s confidence and social skills, classes that would help toddlers to shine and prepare them not just for nursery and school but for their later years. Teddy’s Playhouse was formed in December 2016 with a vision to create a magical adventure for infants and toddlers through music, song, rhyme, performance, role play, dance and movement; all of which are keyed to supporting language skill development, social awareness and confidence building. Our classes for babies and toddlers fire-up ‘little imaginations’ Our classes are structured to fire-up, nurture and aid in enhancing ‘little imaginations’. Our classes for baby and toddlers are fun, interactive and themed with live music, sensory learning objects, puppets and characters from well known and loved nursery rhymes, lead by professionally trained actors and musicians.

Welcome to Moo Music York a weekly music and multi-sensory group for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. Music has been shown to be an essential part of every child’s development and at Moo Music York we strongly believe in the benefits of music, movement and creative play. Using puppets, props, bubbles, instruments, and our specially written Moo tunes, we aid children’s development while having lots of fun. Our interactive classes are designed around our Moo Music songs developed by Early Years Educators and professional musicians. They are catchy and uplifting and many cover early years topics so the children are learning while having fun. At Moo Music York our sessions are baby and child led and our team is proud to provide a warm and judgment free environment that is a great way to make new friends – both for the children and the adults too. It is extremely rewarding to watch the children grow in confidence week by week building their social skills, physical abilities, speech and language skills, memory, coordination skills and musical ability and enjoyment. In a typical Moo session you can expect to sing, dance, dress up, explore, learn and play. Moo is all about having fun and connecting with your little one so the more you put in the more you get out. Each week we follow a different theme, go on all sorts of adventures and use new and exciting props to encourage imaginative play. In each session we have a mix of old and new songs. We repeat a few songs every week as children love familiarity and it is amazing how quickly they learn the songs by heart.

As you know, she struggled badly with the simplest concepts. Taking her back to basics and repeating tasks really worked for her. It’s nothing short of a miracle. Your help was priceless. X ‎Rebecca Turner‎ to One to Learn1 July 2016 · My son has becoming to Sheena for lessons in maths and literacy for over a year. He has ASD and ADHD and Sheena has been brilliant with him. She has helped to consolidate his core skills (which he had some big gaps in) and taught him lots of new skills! She is very patient and paces the lessons very well and manages my son’s ASD needs very well. Since Morgan started with you as her tutor her confidence and her ability has increased beyond belief. Not only has she gained confidence in her ability academically, she has gained confidence in herself. She has now finished her Hickey Multi-Sensory system, but is continuing with her tutoring as it has turned around her whole outlook on learning. We intend to keep her in your tuition to support her as she moves through to year 8 and on-wards. Thank you for all your help over the last 2 years to improve her percentile from 20 to 47 Great work! I would recommend (and have already recommended) your services to anyone who has need of extra educational support. Thank you again. Sue Edwards Teague. St Rose's Special School

st rose's special school

Gloucestershire.

The inspiring courage of the Dominican Sisters of St Rose Convent in Stroud, led them to found St Rose’s in 1912. Their foundations established the ethos for St Rose’s and St Martin’s today: the happy, family-atmosphere where children and students are challenged to develop and achieve their potential. Set in beautiful grounds within walking distance to the centre of Stroud we offer a nurturing and social environment for students to develop their independence. We provide education, therapy and day and residential care for children and students aged 2 to 25, with a wide range of disabilities, including Autism. In our nursery we have mainstream children, as well as children with disabilities. Many of our students have physical disabilities, as well as sensory, learning and communication difficulties; some also have complex health needs. Parents and carers trust us implicitly. Our very individual and flexible approach means we can easily adapt the programme for each student. As their needs and aspirations change and they develop, we offer new opportunities to support their personal growth and independence. Our integrated team of dedicated and specialist staff makes this possible. As well as specialist teaching staff, we have our own therapeutic staff on site, offering a range of therapies, including physio, speech and language, occupational, aquatic, massage and music. We have our own hydrotherapy pool. We also offer specialist medical support, 24 hours a day. Our staff are truly exceptional, and the trust we build with families is very strong. We also provide individual programmes through strong links with mainstream schools and FE colleges, so students can specialise and flourish where their aspirations lie. Fun and achievement exist side-by-side and we celebrate success in many ways. Students enjoy many social occasions and events held at St Rose’s and St Martin’s and at outside venues. We offer many extra-curricular activities including sports, clubs and educational visits. We welcome questions and visitors at any time.
