We know that the effects of short and long-term unemployment will be significant for younger generations, so protecting the future of young people across Greater Manchester is absolutely critical, ensuring they have hope and optimism for the future. We have developed a range of courses and tailored support to provide vulnerable young people with the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, develop self-esteem and confidence, and gain valuable skills for work. We’re working closely with GMCA, employers and other key partners in the region to pilot new and innovative ways of supporting young people to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential. Future Workforce Fund plays a significant role in our ability to support the emerging needs of young people, and provide a flexible, adaptive offer that will directly support the Greater Manchester Young Person’s Guarantee. We are proud to be working in partnership with GMCA to do things differently and help young people in the region take their next steps towards building sustainable futures.

We started our life as Mitchell Walk Playgroup. In June 2014 we became Holding Hands Pre-School and moved into our current setting. We gained our third consecutive outstanding OfSted rating in March 2018. We pride on ourselves in welcoming all children and families no matter what their ability, background and beliefs. We accept referrals from agencies such as Brokerage, Carers Bucks and Family Centres as well as applications directly from parents. We deliver a holistic educational and multi-sensory experience day by day by not only embracing our outside areas but also by delivering specifically designed small group and interventional activities encouraging emotional well being, speech and language and closing peer development gaps through early identification. We give our children every opportunity to discover their world. We encourage them to explore their environment in a safe supported way. We empower our children to be confident and challenge them to achieve their full potential offering thought provoking and physically enabling activities whilst embracing the beauty of our local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Life is meant to be beautiful and the way we view it is everything. Our ethos is to help each other, praise each other, to empower children to believe in themselves and their abilities. We will develop strong, resilient and caring children with real confidence and real self-esteem. We encourage our children to manage their own emotions through mindfulness.

Hello my name is Maria Tjader and I am 39 years old. I live with my daughter, partner and his daughter by the sea in South of England, UK. My own healing journey began when I finished school, left Sweden to explore a new life, and intensified when I had an early middle life crises 13 years ago. As a young adult I felt lost and didn’t know who I was. I felt disempowered by life and without roots, it sparked my journey of self-discovery. It’s been an incredible adventure, with a fair amount of difficulties, creating more aliveness, finding my own love story and myth. I was once a socially awkward girl, lost and confused about life. I grew up in a loving family but still didn’t feel like I fit in or had a place of belonging. I didn’t have many consistent friends that I felt deep connection with, kept attracting unhealthy dynamics with men, had low self-esteem and self-worth. I was adopted from South Korea to Sweden at the age of 1,5. At that time I experienced separation 3 times which meant that I found it hard to trust and allow myself to create healthy attachment to my Swedish parents and anyone else for many years. I wasn’t aware of this until the last couple of years after nearly 13 years of private therapy sessions, workshops, courses and shamanic ceremonies.

Our mission is to change the world – one girl at a time. Rites for Girls trains women to mentor girls right through their adolescence and to facilitate girls’ groups.  In Girls Journeying Together groups preteen girls prepare for puberty and learn how to take charge of their emotional, social, and mental well-being. This guidance continues through their teenage years.  Our Facilitators also support their mothers as the girls journey through this pivotal phase.  Our Girls’ Net groups provide guidance and camaraderie through times of challenge to small groups of same-age girls (aged 8-18) in weekly online sessions.  Our Mentors offer tools for coping well and the girls access their inner resources while also realising that they’re not alone.  We train women to become the woman they needed in their lives when they were young.  And together we make growing up for girls an easier, safer, and better supported journey.

Shapes of Tomorrow, works with children, parents and teachers to equip them with skills that today’s mainstream education system lacks; skills which are necessary in life, but are overlooked before adulthood – such as, resilience, managing mood, understanding and managing stress, healthy communication, working through conflict and much more. Shapes of Tomorrow wants to see young people grow into all rounded people, who are not only book smart and get the right grades, but who also have high self esteem and are confident in their choices, who are able to communicate their thoughts and feelings.

IDL was devised in the mid 1980s by educators working with the Starcross Educational Research Association. In 2012 a programme was funded by the Big Lottery called Lifting Barriers. This allowed IDL to be developed for use within a school environment in conjunction with SENCO leaders. Over a three year period IDL was placed in to 120 primary and secondary schools across the North West. IDL was required to show an increase in reading and spelling ages along with an increase in confidence and self-esteem for those pupils with dyslexia or dyslexic type difficulties. The results showed an average increase in reading and spelling ages of 11 months after only 26 hours use. Since its development for use in schools, IDL has gone from strength to strength with schools nationwide and overseas using IDL and demonstrating real improvements for pupils with challenging literacy needs.

Community Department was established in 1992, with the initial emphasis being on the development of a network of football coaching courses for children and young people, along with the provision of the SFA Coach Education Programme.
