Vikings of Middle England is a Viking Re-enactment, Historical Entertainment and Living History group based in Leicester, United Kingdom (UK). We perform at events to audiences across the country, showing the struggles and victories of our Viking, Anglo-Saxon and Norman ancestors. Made up of volunteer members, we provide spectacularly visceral combat displays, dramatic acted scenarios and an extensive 'living history' encampment that breathes as craftsmen and women go about their business. I am extremely proud to be Principal and CEO of such an innovative, high performing and caring college. After studying at the College over 90% of our students progress into work or higher education. Student behaviour and attitudes at the College are rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. This results in high levels of success in our wide range of qualifications as well as exceptional student skill development and medal achievements in local, regional, national, and international skills competitions. At the most recent WorldSkills UK national finals our College was the best performing College in England. Students won gold medals in creative media makeup, silver medals in digital media production and visual merchandising, and foundation level students won gold medals in catering health and social care, and motor vehicle skills. College students also won seven gold medals in the Welsh International Culinary Championship. The amazing commitment and high levels of expertise of our teaching and support staff over the last year has been recognised in nominations for a TES national award (for our distance and online learning team) and through two national Pearson award nominations for our beauty and holistic therapies teaching team and for one of our learning support mentors. We have also been awarded chartered status by the Chartered Institution for Further Education, the only organisation in the UK with royal assent to provide chartered status to FE providers. In the last three years, the College has opened two new world class campuses. The College-led MIRA Technology Institute (MTI) is located on the HORIBA MIRA Technology Park and is a learning partnership with HORIBA MIRA, Coventry, Leicester, and Loughborough Universities. Students and apprentices at this campus are building skills to support the disruptive technologies such as electrification and cyber security in the automotive industry. The College’s new Digital Skills Academy located on the Coventry University Technology Park represents part of our response to the fast-growing demand for digital skills in all industry sectors. Over the next year, we will be opening our Centre for Logistics Education and Research (CLEAR) at Magna Park, in partnership with Aston University and industry partner Wincanton. We will also be progressing our plans with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to move our award-winning restaurant and a new Digital Innovation Centre into Nuneaton town centre, and we will continue with the redevelopment of our Nuneaton campus into a 21st century digitally enable centre of teaching excellence.

Youth Education Project is a Not for Profit Social Enterprise based in Leicester city centre. We provide a diverse learning environment that offers direct support to help young people to develop transferable skills and explore potential employment or further training opportunities. YEP assists young people to help them make informed and positive decisions about their own future. We aim to provide young people with independent living skills, and this is achieved through pastoral support and a range of vocational and academic courses.

Leicester Fencing Club originated from a merger between Huncote FC and Granby Halls FC in June 1989. The club was then known as the Granby Hall FC until it was no longer possible to continue fencing at the venue. Both Steve Wright and Jim Amberton had gone to Alderman Newton school at what is now Leicester Grammar School, Peacock Lane. They approached the headmaster to see whether to have fencing again on the site. Allowing his pupils free coaching, the club moved venue to the school premises. As the Club grew in size it was decided that we would have to find a larger venue. The City of Leicester School in Evington (formally Leicester City Grammar School for Boys) already had a history of fencing there, so the club moved again in 1992 and due to the change of venue a new name was required. CLUB ‘X’ was suggested but was thrown out for being too silly and finally the Leicester Fencing Club emerged from the ashes. The Deputy Head Master of the School (Alan Rudge) supported the move and growth of the Club at the School. We continued fencing there for five years but again had to move this time due to security reasons. Another venue was sought and we approached Aylestone Leisure Centre. They accepted us with open arms and the rest has been, as they say, history. The club not only looks after Foil, the club’s main weapon, but now Sabre and Epee are coached. The club provides beginner groups for youth and adults which are structured to the British Fencing Association’s Achievement Awards Scheme, all provided by a well-trained and qualified coaching team. We also support our more experienced members with weekly sessions available for further education towards higher grades or simply a safe environment to have a bit of fun. Our sessions run on Tuesdays for Foil (and Epee where in demand) and Fridays for Sabre Cadets (under 18s). Both groups meet from 7pm until 9pm during term times and occasionally run during the half term breaks and summer holiday, dependent on availability of coaches. As your child grows Kids Corner Nursery aims to lead by example, establishing an environment of mutual respect, which promotes self esteem and helps to build self confidence creating a solid foundation to life ahead.
