Firstly, our programmes are completely personalised to each candidate; no two people have the same experience because we only train between 20 and 30 trainees each year. Unlike the big university models where you would be one of 200 trainee teachers, we tailor the year to maximise your skills and you will therefore be better prepared to teach. We have our own supportive SCITT community, our own wellbeing programme and our own life coach. Secondly, because our trainees don’t have to attend University lectures, we have time to give them a bespoke enhancement programme running alongside the mainstream school placements. Our secondary trainees have the opportunity to teach in primary schools, pupil referral units, Special Educational Needs settings, work with CAHMS and teach in Sixth Forms. They also spend time at our local private schools to teach children with English as an additional language. Again, trainee curriculum design is tailored to maximise preparation. Thirdly, our programmes are competitively priced because we know graduates are already carrying huge university debts. We charge £7705 for QTS, as opposed to £9000, but we also give a free qualification for secondary trainees in addition to QTS so they leave as qualified Teachers of the PSHE Association [Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education]. This gives them an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs, and fully prepares them for teaching beyond the curriculum and preparing their pupils for life in modern Britain.

What to expect The courses we deliver vary in length depending on the difficulty level. GCSE Maths and English courses are each 10 days long with the Functional Skills Maths and English courses each being 5 days long. To enable us to provide a targeted and streamlined delivery, you will be asked to carry out a diagnostic test as part of a pre-course learning package. Helping small and start-up businessesOur Founder Nikki started her business at the age of 23, in her final year of university. She hit upon an unmet demand for clothing and lingerie to fit bigger busted girls. She had no prior textile or business experience, but knew there was a market for the product. With almost no cash, she set out to launch her start-up business but hit multiple challenges along the way – not understanding how to promote her business online, how to generate sales, run online ads or manage her own SEO, and no budget to pay someone for help, she had no choice but to figure it out through a matrix of failed experiments, free online information and training workshops where they were affordable (and not many were!) Eventually, one sale became two, and two became ten, and within a couple of years the business took off – by 2010 Nikki had been awarded the Natwest Everywoman Artemis Business Award and in 2011 appeared on Dragons Den, securing private investment of £250,000 after the show had aired. This enabled her to scale her brand, re-shore production to the UK and eventually culminated in running a factory in Preston with over a dozen machinists, and supplying her brand to the high street. But her frustration remained around the lack of practical help and support for startup business owners. Training courses seldom left her with any usable information to implement – they would talk about the benefits of Facebook marketing, or SEO, or Social Media but never gave enough information to actually go and do it yourself.

Originally from Russia, I lived in the UK since the late 1990s, making London my home and a place of infinite inspiration. I studied film history, gaining a PhD in the field of Soviet Holocaust cinema, while working with various film festivals and running my own cultural events production company. In 2014 after leaving my career in the arts sector, I launched KinoVino which rapidly gained recognition as one of the most original projects redefining London’s food scene. Since its launch I developed a bespoke event branch, hosted supper clubs under my own name exploring food from my native Russia and released my debut cookbook Salt and Time in 2019. My recipes are featured in The Guardian, Red Magazine, Olive Magazine, The Independent and House & Garden amongst other leading UK publications. While my events have been highlighted in Vogue, Elle, TimeOut, and I’ve been shortlisted for the Young British Foodie Awards in 2017. I’ve also had the honour of being listed at number one of the new voices in food by the Observer Food Magazine in February 2019, and having my cooking names a new trend for 2021 by Waitrose Magazine. Since 24 Feb 2022, I have started #CookforUkraine campaign using the language of food to raise awareness and funds for the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine right now. I have teamed up with my dear friend, Ukrainian chef, writer and activist, Olia Hercules, and the formidable team behind #CookforSyria to create a global movement to celebrate the food of Ukraine while providing the much needed humanitarian help vid UNICEF Emergency Relief Fund.
