While we specialise in working with people with additional challenges our courses are open to people of all ages and abilities. We also offer support and advice for climbers of all abilities but in particular amputees. All of our courses are arranged at a time and place to suite our clients.

Based in Llanberis, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park; Mountain Independence specialise in running rock climbing, mountaineering and Mountain Training Qualification courses. Our ethos is to run fun, friendly and relaxed courses helping people develop the confidence and skills to enjoy their own adventures in the outdoors. Stu Lade, Mountain Independence Mountain Independence is run by Stuart Lade, I’m a keen climber and mountaineer of nearly 20 years with adventures throughout the UK and across the world. From starting out instructing in a number of climbing walls I have progressed through the Mountain Training schemes to gain both the Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor and the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor awards, the two highest qualifications for climbing and mountaineering activities in the UK. I specialise in climbing, mountaineering and hill walking activities and throughout my career I have, and continue to, work freelance for numerous organisations instructing and coaching clients at all levels. I work on the majority of courses, but you will also benefit from the input of other carefully selected staff members from time to time. We only use qualified instructors, with extensive local mountain experience; and a passion for sharing their knowledge with others. Additionally all our staff are dedicated professionals, being members of AMI / MTA and engaging in continuing professional development; not to mention being friendly folk : ) Our ethos for Mountain Training qualifications courses is not only to use highly qualified and experienced instructors, but also current and active freelancers doing the work of the award schemes that they are delivering. We’re based right on the high street in Llanberis, from our home in Snowdonia National Park. We have a quiet, private space for Mountain Independence where we run morning meetings and evening lectures; equipped with facilities for weather briefings, presentations and lots of resources. Our aim is to provide an unrivalled service to customers regardless of their level of experience.

ROXCOOL is a professional instructional business based in and around the North East of England but we are often found working in North Yorkshire, The Peak District, Scotland and our favourite place in the whole world The Lake District. We specialise in climbing and mountaineering courses but also offer opportunities for adventures through guided and fun activities using our team of professionals. We were established in January 2009 and since then the company has not only survived but has prospered. We are very proud of the fact that we are the only Mountain Training course provider in the North East of England, offering all of their climbing instructor and walking leadership courses. We pride ourselves on giving satisfaction and so far all our feedback on both Facebook and TripAdvisor has been 5 * and positive. We also offer technical self-improvement courses relating to safe systems used in climbing and mountaineering situations. So whether its learning to set up simple belay systems or the rudiments of navigation we have a course for you. Our guiding service is very popular for those with specific goals in mind, so you can enjoy and access some of the classic walks, climbs and scrambles of The Lake District and other mountainous areas of the UK or just have a grand day out. Our work with both local and national charities has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and makes up a high proportion of our annual delivery. We specialise in tailor made events and have become somewhat experts in abseiling from unusual buildings (just click on our ‘Charity Events’ tab above). Our charity walks are a great way to encourage lots of participants and a great way to raise money for a chosen charity close to your heart. Finally, we wanted to tell you about our Spanish Adventures and retreats based in Southern Spain. These adventures definitely fit with our company strap line 'for adventures of a lifetime'. Although we have had a connection and a place set aside in our heart with a little village called Murtas for over fifteen years, we have only recently, started to offer adventures there. These adventures are as far removed from life on the costa's as they could be and so far everyone who has visited has fallen in love with the areas we have taken them to. So if you are after some guaranteed sun, warm hospitality, a new cultural experience and possibly a little vino away from the tourists, we think we have the perfect experience for you. A qualified, experienced Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor, I was born and grew up in Hayfield at the foot of Kinder Scout where the mass trespass paved the way for hillwalking as we know it. My grandfather raced at Le Mans with Rob Lawrie, a boot maker who supplied the Alpine Club expeditions and made boots for Hillary’s ascent of Everest. Given this background, it was inevitable I’d be involved in the outdoors. I love this history but am equally excited about helping future generations and those new to the mountains. I’ve worked in the outdoors since 2006. I believe education and learning is vital and that mountaineering can be a powerful tool to develop people – whether this is a long, life changing journey or simply climbing a single peak as one-off challenge. In addition to working as a Mountain Leader and Instructor my expertise in logistics, planning & project management means I have the capability to deliver highly successful events across a broad range of sectors. I provide logistical & event support services for adventurous activities & challenges to a range of customers including charities, schools, private companies & high net worth individuals. I enjoy a range of outdoor, active sports; hillwalking, skiing, climbing, sailing, cycling (on the road) and swimming in open water. I enjoy introducing the next generation to the outdoors – through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and supporting primary schools. I’m based in Manchester and work predominantly in the Peak District, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales & Snowdonia, but I am UK mobile.
