Dave took on Carole Gandy as a 60 year old who had tried to win the BBAR for TWENTY FIVE YEARS … Her first year with Dave, she won the 100 mile TT Championship and realised her fairy tale when she finally took the BBAR.. The oldest women EVER to do so ….. In Carl Saint’s first year with Dave , he improved beyond belief, when he produced a sub 20 minute 10 mile TT, a sub 50 minute 25 mile TT and did 1.43 for a 50 mile TT and also finished with a Bronze medal in the 50 mile Champs. Dave helped Andy Fenn from a 12 year old novice into one of the best bike riders in the Pro Ranks and winner of the amateur Paris Roubaix and now one of the “Hard Men” in the “SKY TEAM” !. He aided Wendy Houvenaghel from a complete Track rookie to National 3,000 metre Pursuit Champion and World Cup Champion in less than a year and then Wendy went on to be World Champion and Olympic Medallist. Dave helped Chris Carver lose 16 kg in 3 months (without dieting) to realise his ambition to beat the hour for a 25 mile TT when he finished the year with a 56 minute time !! So this proves Dave doesn’t just work with Super Stars … Everyone wants something different. He also took Kara Chesworth from just another bike rider who had only been riding for 2 years and was a mother of three young children to the Women’s National Road Race Series Winner and also took part in the Commonwealth Games for Wales in the same year. The list goes on and doesn’t stop growing … Dave is always there for his athletes and gets a bigger buzz now from them doing well than when he was winning just about everything. TheHorseCourse is a world leader in well-evidenced high impact equine-assisted interventions. Having started in prisons, we now run a busy community-based HQ in Weymouth, Dorset, UK – an area of high deprivation. Employing 6 facilitators and 14 horses, we work with young people from 8yrs old, families and adults. In Dorset we help over 600 people with complex challenges and needs each year, and we do not charge the participants – our funding comes from a mix of commissioning and charitable grants/donations. We also provide Alternative Provision for young people out of education, accredited qualifications, and supported volunteering through our Working Wellies project. Our Non-verbals Toolbox training is a unique approach to emotions and relationships which we offer to professionals and the public on zoom or in workshops. We train and assess others to replicate our programmes and we work hard to support them in setting up their own centres around the UK. Independent centres running our programmes are becoming increasingly busy and more are opening. We monitor their impact data to ensure they are as effective as we are, and provide ongoing training. We hold an Animal Activity Licence from Dorset Council, No: 8060, licence holder: Harriet Laurie. We also maintain Social Farms & Gardens Green Care Quality Mark and the Charity Excellence Framework Quality Mark.

Jenkins School of Motoring (JSM) was established in 2006. It was established by Paul Jenkins with the aspiration of putting safer drivers and riders on the road. JSM specialises in teaching novice road users with special care given to nervous and first time drivers (EDT) and riders (IBT). JSM also provides lessons to advanced Riders and Pre-testers. I became an instructor at the age of 21 which at that time was the youngest ADI Driving instructor in Ireland teaching car drivers. I then qualified as an ADI motorcycle instructor and successfully completed a RoSPA Diploma in Advanced Riding Instruction at the age of 29 which is the youngest in Ireland and the united kingdom . I created JSM as I wanted to be part of a company with morals and values that cared for each individual client and provide them with only top quality instruction.

We can offer first class facilities for both Flat and National Hunt enthusiasts and their horses. Iain welcomes horses from either discipline and enjoys training both. This isn’t the first time Iain has been at Hetlandhill. After taking part in the Scottish Borders Common Riding’s, Pony Racing and riding in Flapping Races as a boy, Iain concentrated on becoming a jockey. His career started with Mick Naughton in Yorkshire before coming to Hetlandhill as a Conditional Jockey to Scottish Champion Trainer Len Lungo here at Hetlandhill. A lot of what Iain learned with Len, has been carried forward to his training techniques today. From Len’s, Iain then went on to work for Yorkshire Trainer, Ferdy Murphy before coming back to Scotland to work for Peter Monteith. Laterally he rode freelance for Scottish and Northern Trainers including Ali Whillans. Iain’s experience as a jockey helps him greatly in his training career.

The Broken Spoke is a not-for-profit social enterprise started by people who are really passionate about cycling, and we provide open workshop support, mechanics courses, cycle training, women’s and transgender people only mechanics sessions, and a hub of information for people who cycle (or really want to). We partner with local community organisations, school groups, and individuals with the goal of making people more proficient and confident in cycle maintenance and riding. Since February 2018, Broken Spoke has been registered as a Community Benefit Society with charitable objectives and we are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under number 31918R as Broken Spoke Bicycles Limited. Some history Broke Spoke was founded in June 2012. From the beginning the founders have been working closely with the Cooperative Enterprise Hub for advice and training. Thanks to their assistance and support, Broken Spoke became a fully fledged not-for-profit Industrial and Provident Society Multistakeholder Co-operative in December 2012. (Phew, that’s a mouthful…) On 10 October 2016, we updated our registration in line with the current legislation and were then called a ‘registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014’. (…not sure if that made it easier?) In 2017 we decided that the Community Benefit Society model is actually a better fit with the purpose and objectives of Broken Spoke. On 12 February 2018 we registered the amendment of our rules and thereby transitioned to being a Community Benefit Society, still registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. We are also still dedicated to adhering to the co-operative principles and are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity.

The Natural Animal Centre provides educational courses on animal behaviour, training and management. The NAC courses have been running since 1999 and have trained many animal behaviourists who have gone on to build successful careers in behaviour and training. The NAC is run by a team of industry experts and is an approved UKRS and ABTC provider, offering the highest standard of accredited courses to animal owners and professionals alike. The NAC has its own virtual learning environment that allows students from all over the world to join in with courses, lectures and webinars, ultimately fulfilling the NAC mission statement; “Positively influencing the wellbeing of animals worldwide”. Heather and Ross Simpson founded the NAC in 1997 when they opened the first centre in Sussex. In 2003, they moved to Wales and opened the second centre and they remained there until 2019 when the NAC Sanctuary moved to Chichester after Heather sadly passed away the year before. With a background in animal behaviour, Heather has published her first PhD paper on zebra behaviour working with Professor Christine Nicol of Bristol Vet School. The Natural Animal Centre ran animal behaviour courses for people to come and stay and spend weeks at a time studying the science of animal behaviour, in a centre purpose-built for the animals it was home to. The NAC then developed further and converted the EBQ and CBQ stage 1 courses into online distance learning programmes which pioneered the way that people could learn the science of animal behaviour for these species, in as much depth as they would have done in person, from home. With this step forward came the release of the EBQ Stage 2 and the CBQ Stage 2. As of 2021, the ownership of the Natural Animal Centre changed when Ross chose Alex Le Grand as a successor. Alex brought on board Debbie Busby and Aliyah Woodland to help him develop the NAC further into the future of the animal behaviour industry. The Natural Animal Centre is now managed by the new team and is re-structuring all the courses and developing them further to move in line with the animal behaviour industry becoming more controlled over the coming years. With this, new programmes are undergoing development and in 2022 there will be more courses available for owners, professionals, degree students, etc.

Billy and Gillian Plenderleith are local to the 3 Towns Area (Ardrossan, Saltcoats & Stevenston) in Ayrshire; Billy was born and raised in Stevenston and Gillian in Ardrossan. Billy and Gillian have always had a keen interest in animals; from growing up with the family dogs and other pets including hamsters, budgies, guinea pigs and rabbits, to other hobbies including keeping tropical fish for Billy and horse-riding for Gillian. In 1980, Billy gained a keen interest in working with dogs when he went along with Lance, his first yellow Labrador dog, to a nearby dog obedience training club. Billy was determined to be a responsible dog owner and wanted to have a pet that he could take anywhere even then. He and Lance learned together and Billy was hooked. Following the addition of Sam and Clairey, two Golden Retrievers, Billy did well in Competitive Obedience, dabbled in Fun Agility and tried his hand at Showing. Whilst he enjoyed all these activities, Billy was introduced to gun dog work; this is where his real enthusiasm lay. Billy moved on to win awards in Working Gun Dog Tests and Field Trials with a variety of his dogs. Billy was also invited to be part of the representative team for The Golden Retriever Club of Scotland with both Sam and Clairey; a great honour.
