Kingsbury High School has many strengths and a long history of success. There is a keen understanding of the importance of values and a sense of tradition, encapsulated by the School motto, spectemur agendo. It dates back to the founding of our predecessor school, the Kingsbury County, in the 1920s, and it is Latin for, “let us be judged by our actions”. As Headteacher I seek to lead the school with this at the heart and ask students to respect themselves, others and the environment. Our students gain excellent examination results in both GCSE and across the Sixth Form. In our most recent inspection Ofsted again rated the school as “good”. Equally, the school is very proud of the way it has achieved these outcomes and the rounded education it offers to its students. We recognise our place in the community and are a key part of the partnership, Kingsbury Schools Together with our local primary schools and the Village (special) School. A great school is a combination of different things. We are equally proud of the many opportunities we provide for our students beyond the curriculum and how we develop students as individuals ready for adult life. Phoenix Domestic Abuse Services (Phoenix DAS) is a highly successful registered charity that uses a variety of methods to end all forms of domestic abuse. Since its inception in 2002 the service has received over 7000 referrals and currently works with more than 50 partner organisations. The Service is forward thinking and adopts a restorative, person centred approach to all areas of its work. This is unusual within the field but is based on the strong belief that all people are capable of change given the right motivation, support and practical assistance. We consider recruitment critically, only selecting those who truly share in our passion, values and beliefs. We, and others who encounter our service, recognise our people make us distinctive, innovative and ground breaking within the field. Over the years Phoenix DAS has listened to the needs of the clients it supports and constantly fought to create a service which creates real change. As a result the service has gone from strength to strength and currently employs over 20 staff over a variety of skills area. Services currently offered are: Victim Safety Team – support the emotional, practical and safety needs of female and male victims of domestic abuse aged 16+, including support through Criminal justice and civil court systems. Rise & Thrive Programmes – Victim Programmes are available to victims reading within Blaenau Gwent. Youth Respect Team – Healthy Relationship Work and also Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA). Youth Respect Officers support young people (aged 11-18) who are concerned about their behaviours and responses within their intimate relationships. For those young people who are displaying negative and abusive behaviours at home towards parents/carers we can provide a programme of support to help challenge this. Parenting support is also available to all parents experiencing this abuse. This support is available across Gwent. Children Support – The Recovery team supports children and their parents affected by Domestic Abuse within Blaenau Gwent. This support is available for children aged 6-18. Voluntary Perpetrator Programme – working in Gwent to deliver life lasting change in attitudes and behaviour with those who are motivated to change. This intervention is available for males, females, LGBTQ+, aged 18 and over. It is delivered either in group settings or on a one to one basis.

Witheford Equine - Home He is often referred to as a horse whisperer, others call him ‘the magic man’, but Gary Witheford, the man who breaks horses in less than half an hour, prefers to call himself a ‘horseman’. As the first man to break in zebras, Gary and his son, Craig, have worked with horses who present all sorts of problems. These range from refusing to load onto horseboxes, ridden issues such as bolting, bucking, rearing or napping, fear of traffic, farrier or vet phobias and many other challenges faced by horse owners from all disciplines, be it happy hackers or competition horses. Gary’s expertise in dealing with horses spans over 35 years and January 2018 brought about a slight re-structuring in the business. The decision was made to focus purely on working in the racing industry for racehorses who have a range of issues, most notably those with issues when being loaded into starting stalls but the team also break in hundreds of horses each year – although he prefers the term ‘start’. ‘Breaking-in’ is a very negative term. The most notable of his racing successes to date is Sea The Stars for Irish trainer John Oxx and the mighty Kingman for John Gosden. As Gary explains, horses don’t really want to get into a fight and by working them using pressure and release, they quickly learn to look at you as a leader. “The less pressure there is the more the horse will follow you. It’s the herd instinct. Horses are flight animals, whether they are thoroughbreds, ponies or shire horses so you’ve got to go through their thoughts and go back to basics.’’ As the ‘magic man’ says “I like to think I let my horses do the talking and let the results speak for themselves. It’s all about trust and getting them to think ‘You’re my leader and I will follow you’. It just proves to me that the way I handle horses has to work. I have great respect for the owners, riders and trainers that I work with and totally appreciate the trust they place in me. With the increased focus on welfare for horses I hope that by working as a team we can all make things better for the horses, handlers and riders".

Kamitan Arts CIC is a Non-Profit Community Company, whose presence in the RBKC community has been evident for over 15 years. Who we help with our work: We work with children, young people and adults that are from disadvantaged backgrounds and challenging situations. All our programmes are inclusive and we always observe, critique and evaluate the learning and apply this to future work. Using these approaches shows that our ethos is to respect and understand without discrimination and embrace all communities in Kensington and Chelsea and beyond. Where and with whom we work with: We operate predominantly, but not exclusively in Kensington and Chelsea. In youth, community and play centres, schools, theatres and open air events in parks. Emmanuelle Marcel (Princess Emmanuelle), the Founding Director of Kamitan Arts, professionally trained at Dance and Theatre Schools most of her life (RTS, NSCD, BRIT, Urdang, LCDS) began volunteering at Lancaster Youth Centre in 1999 delivering drama sessions to SEND young people. She later went onto deliver dance workshops, performances, and collaborated on productions fusing Dance, Drama, Theatre and Poetry. In the early 2000’s Emmanuelle Marcel was employed as a freelancer and ever since has worked across London, the UK and abroad in a variety of settings and with Kamitan Arts. Bringing together live musicians, featured poets, artists and an inter-generational community to create and share in a safe virtual space. Welcoming all to participate in exploring thier own creativity and have thier voices heard; endeavouring to restore hope for a brighter day through-out and past the COVID19 Worldwide Pandemic – 2020 – Present. Kamitan Arts works with many artists and youth practitioners from Kensington and Chelsea, thus we’re well-connected with the local voluntary and community sector.
