Exeter Art SchoolTeaching traditional skills in Art and Design that will serve our pupils well into their creative futures. Here at Meraki Art School we provide an environment that fosters confidence and skill in the next generation of artists. Our focus is on the teaching of traditional skills in art and design and our experienced artist-teachers support pupils to develop skills in drawing, painting and sculpture. There is a focus on using high quality materials, as well as referencing artists, craftspeople and collecting visual information from the wider world. Young people are able to immerse themselves in their creative pursuits and will be supported in building a visual language that will help them to harness the power of their own unique voice.

Needle-felting is a fascinating experience, watching creations taking a life and form of their own as you work. It is a very intuitive and tactile craft. Tools required are few and the materials relatively inexpensive. The work can be picked up and put down at a moment’s notice, and can be carried out almost anywhere. Michelle started teaching the craft eight years ago, holding regular workshops at venues across the country. She has now taught over 2000 people and her book on Needlefelting will be published in January 2024 by Crowood Press. Workshops are held in a very relaxed atmosphere - it’s been said that the laughs are as good as the course! There are several regular venues all over the country or you can travel to Furzie's Workshop in Somerset or arrange for Furzie to travel to you.
