It is important for us to ensure young people can make well-informed decisions about their future careers, this involves being immersed in experiences which open minds to alternative possibilities. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport released figures in November 2018 stating the UK’s roaring creative industries made a record contribution to the economy. Our school is a place where creative talent is celebrated and nurtured. We are very excited about the future of the creative industries and the futures of young people within it. The Atisha Centre was opened in October 1992 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, a world-renowned meditation master who has founded hundreds of centres around the world as part of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union. He is the Spiritual Guide to thousands of people worldwide. Since its opening Atisha KMC has continued to provide a place of peace for all who visit, and is home to a spiritual community dedicated to achieving peace through putting Buddha's teachings into practice. Everyone is welcome into this peaceful and blessed environment. Visitors from all backgrounds come to find rest and refuge from the difficulties of busy modern life, and draw inspiration from spiritual friends. Ongoing Buddhist meditation classes and courses at Atisha Centre offer the opportunity to discover our innate capacities for wisdom and compassion. The Buddhist practices taught here are suitable for everyone. Letting this special advice touch our hearts, we learn to become happy and to lead meaningful lives that have the power to greatly benefit others.

peat oberon blacksmith

Peat Oberon is an artist blacksmith based at a forge in the grounds of Preston Hall Museum near Stockton-on-Tees in the North-East of England. He originally trained as a craft teacher and taught various subjects including crafts and technical drawing in schools and sixth form college for 15 years before becoming a full-time blacksmith in 1980. Since then he has earned his living and an esteemed world reputation producing a wealth of architectural, sculptural and decorative ironwork. Peat began teaching the craft of blacksmithing in 1990, combining his skills as an artist, craftsman and teacher with his life-long passion for working with metal. At his School of Blacksmithing he delivers quality courses where his students enjoy the expert tuition of a master blacksmith.
