rachel davies mosaics
Edinburgh
I am a mosaic artist based in Dunblane, Scotland. I use a range of materials in
my work, particularly those which allow me to create texture and dimension.
Slate is one of my favourite materials to use - it is strong yet delicate, and
can contain a range of colours and surfaces. I also love using stone and smalti
(a special type of glass for mosaics). I love inspiring others to get creative
and I enjoy teaching regular workshops from my home studio. I believe that the
process of making a mosaic can be therapeutic, whether it is the mindfulness and
relaxation that comes from concentrating on placing individual pieces, or the
social interactions that arise from working as part of a group. I am a
professional member and the secretary of the British Association for Modern
Mosaic (BAMM)
