The Cornwall School of Art, Craft and Jewellery was based in St Austell in Cornwall. We specialised in metal clay courses and classes as well as allied subjects and jewellery making. Director and principle tutor Julia Rai has worked with metal clay for many years and is internationally well known in the metal clay community. Our Tutors Director and principle tutor at the school was Julia Rai. She taught all of our regular metal clay courses. She is well known in the international metal clay community and she is Vice President of the Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide (AMCAW). She also runs the Metal Clay Academy website when she’s not teaching or writing.

Welcome, this my story of how I came to be a Bob Ross instructor. I loved art when I was at school but never found the opportunity to develop this interest. A long career in farming nurtured my love of the countryside and I took enormous pleasure in observing nature; early mornings, sunrises and mists, majestic trees, sparkling sunshine on the water etc. Later in life, as fate would have it, I found myself laid up for 6 weeks after an operation, and with so much time on my hands, I needed an activity – in an attempt to keep me occupied my wife gave me a painting by numbers kit. After that first very basic kit, I had begun to rediscover my love of painting. I rapidly moved on to acrylics then watercolours and then one day I came across Bob Ross on the television and was fascinated by his ‘Wet-on-Wet’ technique of painting with oils. I was amazed at the incredibly professional and delightful paintings which were possible to create in just one sitting and I watched his programmes over and over again. By 2011 I had attended Bob Ross instructor workshops to learn this method of painting for myself. Passionate about sharing this wonderful way of painting with others and discovering I had a natural aptitude for teaching, in 2012 I qualified as a Bob Ross instructor for ‘Wet-on-Wet’ floral techniques and in 2013 returned and qualified in landscape painting. My classes in my studio in Great Glen, Leicestershire, are friendly and relaxed and above all informal. We have fun together, make new friends, gain confidence through learning a new skill and anybody, even someone who has never picked up a brush before can produce a fabulous piece of art over the course of the day to take home and enjoy – a painting to be proud of. I guarantee you’ll have a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Starting her professional career producing pet portraits, her catalogue of works now spans animals, wildlife, abstract and life studies Loving nothing more than whiling away the hours in front of the easel Eunice carefully uses colour and mixed media to create striking original artworks. Sharing her techniques Eunice teaches across a cross wide spectrum of mediums. Seeing people who take part in both online and in person classes progress brings her such a sense of fulfillment. Passing on the joy of taking part in art.

EAS' training centre was opened to improve upon the lack of options for our industry to get quality training for beginners to time-served engineers. We introduced a non-complicated vision to training with the schemes availiable to EAS to ensure that you are getting the best outcomes in a cost effective manner. Running small groups (1:14 max) EAS can focus more on delivery giving a greater overall experience to learning and development. We have found apprentices respond well to our system of learning which we can manage the group better in terms of development and to stretch/challenge those that are excelling. We promote a mature learning enviroment where everyone works as a team and is included. What else do we do differently? - For appretniceship delivery our commitment to you the employer means by each morning you will emailed to confirm if your apprentice(s) have not attended college. We will review progression with you personally or with a supervisor every 12 weeks so you know exactly what has been delivered, if there are any issues and what needs to happen in the future to help your Apprentice(s) to flurrish. We listen and act upon your concerns and we encouraged you to pop in to the centre for a cup of tea and a chat. Peace of mind for you but also lets your apprentice know we work together. Our results speak for themselves. We are currently running at 97% pass rate for all those who attend EAS, that's way above national benchmarks. You wont hear any complaints from your Apprentices about not having tools or materials thats for sure....... nor will they be taught by the book, nor sent to the library or home as the tutor didnt turn up. EAS has listended to Employers feedback on previously used providers and these points always get raised. EAS promise this will never happen unless something drastic has happened completely out of our control.
