The Justice and Peace Commission seeks to be a visible sign for Justice and Peace in the Diocese and the wider community. Our work is based on Gospel Values and Catholic Social Teaching. As Christians we believe in the dignity of human beings and the rights of people to live in peace. We take action on the most pressing issues facing our communities, such as Climate Change, Poverty and racism. The Commission is made up of around a dozen volunteers who meet 4 times a year to direct the work of the Commission. There is a smaller executive that meets in between and makes more day to day decisions. This structure is supplemented with action groups based on our priorities plus a Justice Spirituality group. Much of the work of the Commission is undertaken by volunteers. This is supplemented by paying individuals or organisations to provide specific services to the Commission.

She has been a founder of several choirs and theatre groups and has many vocal credits including soundtracks, commercials, and albums. Adriana has performed on radio and TV, including BBC1 and BBC 4, as well as theatres, festivals, and venues across the UK, France, Brazil, and Cuba. She is also the lead singer in Son Guarachando, a Brighton-based Latin band. As a music leader Adriana currently works as a teacher of singing, theatre, and Spanish to young people, and also collaborates with the theatre groups Teatro por y para Niños, Banyan Tree Puppet Theatre, MOSAIC, Luna Playback Theatre, and Something From Nothing Theatre Company. She has delivered singing workshops in festivals, prisons, schools, hospitals, and care homes as well as been involved in cultural projects in the battle against AIDS, homophobia and transphobia, racism, and other sorts of discrimination.

Commitment to Anti-Racism: The MU Psychological Services Clinic (PSC) and Center for Evidence-Based Youth Mental Health (CEBYMH) are outraged and saddened by the multiple occurrences of police brutality and injustice against Black and Brown communities (Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Michael Brown, and too many others). These are the result of long-standing structurally racist systems that devalue Black and Brown lives. The disproportionate impact of these inequities is felt not only in the justice system, but also in education, medicine, and mental health care. As psychology providers, we believe that the ultimate manner by which to heal racial trauma is for individuals and the systems within which they work to recognize and eliminate explicit and implicit bias, prejudice, racism, and discrimination. However, at this time, many Black and Brown individuals have already experienced and will continue to experience racial trauma. Our clinic is committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for these individuals. We are also aiming to increase provider representation and knowledge in our clinic by working with clinicians and consultants of diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, we are committed to bettering our community and ensuring the safety and well-being of Black and Brown lives.
