Our shared passion is for BMX (bicycle motocross) racing and we compete in competitions up and down the country. Most riders start by competing in the London Series which is especially set up for beginner racers, then progress to Regional Series, Nationals and beyond, with some of our riders competing in the European and World Championships. Not all our riders race though, many are only just learning the skills required to handle a BMX track. Others just love to ride our Nationally renowned track as often as they can for fun and to improve their skills. We have British Cycling qualified coaches to help riders of all ages and abilities, and we welcome new beginners every week. We hold coached, Pay & Play and open gates sessions at Merton Saints BMX track, located behind St. Mark's School on Acacia Road, CR4 1SF (pre-book only, see SESSIONS section). All comers are welcome. We have club bikes and protective gear, so even if you don't have an appropriate bike or a full face helmet, we can kit you out. Do try to bring your own gloves though (any will do).

Although running is a big part of my work, it is also something that I have loved doing since I was 11 years old. Even as a toddler, I would stand and watch people running round our local track before being taken to the nearby park! As a teenager, I trained three times a week on the track and, from about 16 years old, also added a weights session to my training. Most weekends would be spent racing at one event or another and I loved every minute of it. In the beginning I started doing 100m and 200m, quickly followed by 75m and 80m hurdles as I progressed through the age groups. In the U17 age category, I had the opportunity to do 300m and 300m hurdles and it became apparent that I was more successful over the slightly longer distances. Once I moved up to senior level, I was asked to do a 400m hurdles for a point at one of the league races. I (literally) jumped at the chance and never looked back! Over the next few years, this became my event until I stopped doing athletics training in my early twenties. This photo was taken at one of my last 4x100m relay events, which the observant amongst you will realise this is also the image used to make my logo!

Sun Bear Yoga has a key focus on making yoga fun and accessible to all. In this funny old time we believe it's super important to take extra care of our kids and their families' emotional and physical health. Sun Bear Yoga combines yoga, play, fun, dance, drama, music, acro, storytelling, relaxation and mindfulness to nurture positive wellbeing and encourage community support and socialisation (team work- yay). Why is yoga good for kids? It improves concentration and co-ordination, develops body awareness, calms the racing mind and boosts self-esteem and inner confidence. Our mission is to create a space for some much needed time out, fun without distraction, giggles and to provide the opportunity for an emotional reset. We want to give kids and their families the tools to cope better with the daily stressors that come with modern family life. We believe in equality, inclusivity, tolerance, compassion and respect and these values form the foundations of our classes. All of our classes are completely secular and there will be no focus on religion. EVERYONE is welcome. We believe in spreading love and happiness to all. Kindness is our superpower! We offer classes for children 0-16y during term time and we run family yoga events out of term time. Right now our classes go up to 12y but as of September they will be available for 13-16y and we will also have dedicated classes for children with certain additional needs in Autumn 2021.

After decades in the corporate world we reached a tipping point where we needed to channel our energy into something new. We had both spent so much of our careers running, racing, relentlessly pushing, proving, re-proving, worrying, wondering, apologising. Loving it most days but at times, totally exhausted by the pressure of juggling it all. Forever climbing expectations of time and energy until the bank is empty. More and more “baby birds” demanding attention as you climb up the ladder and manage larger teams. That nagging feeling that there is always something you should be doing. Giving a little bit more. Being a touch more proactive. Staying that bit later. Being a bit more committed. More plates spinning as life gets yet more complicated with children and mortgages and sick parents and far far too much adulting. Too much guilt. Life was becoming totally out of balance. Relationships suffered. Health took a hammering. But then we realised, hang on, it isn’t all out of our hands, it is absolutely in our control. It is possible to manage our energy and even have more of it than ever before. We can fill up the bank until it’s bursting at the seams. We just didn’t realise you have to stop being so reactive and leaving yourself at the bottom of the priority pile. It hadn’t dawned on us that you have to take control of managing your wellbeing. We didn’t know that it’s in everyone’s interest to put yourself first. And even if we did, we had never been taught how?

The National Videogame Museum is the UK’s only museum dedicated solely to videogames with a mission to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret videogames for everyone. Forever. Star objects on display shine a spotlight on gaming culture and history, while children and adults alike can discover the importance of videogame preservation through playable exhibits. Sheffield's strong game heritage is also celebrated in the Museum, hosting games from the city and surrounding Yorkshire areas. Alongside weekly openings throughout the year, the Museum is open every day during the school holidays, where visitors can enjoy additional drop-in workshops developed by the NVM’s award winning Learning Team.
