TechyTots was established at the beginning of 2017 in response to a gap in the market by mum of two Gemma Murray. Having family members working in this field and after researching the benefits of teaching children coding Gemma was keen to introduce her own children to coding and quickly realized there was nothing available in the early years to develop such skills. It was quickly apparent that there was high demand for TechyTots with lots of schools asking to run sessions and with family sessions being popular. In just over a year the level of supply and demand was so high for TechyTots, the opportunity for the business to grow was clear. TechyTots is now a national franchise providing classes from Tyneside to London. Now run by Gemma’s Cousin Julie Barber, TechyTots has gone from strength to strength. Julie has been a franchisees with TechyTots since 2018, and has a unique perspective as a business leader, she has faced the challenges of a franchisee and devolved a successful franchise with multiple classes running well in her area. Julie now has the opportunity to develop TechyTots and make sure more children are able to be part of TechyTots and learn important Coding skills. TechyTots is the first class in the uk to bring together technology and play to introduce children to coding. Our aim is to work on the first steps of coding with children at a young age to help prepare them for the technical world we now live in whilst making it fun. 'Coding' for those who do not already know is simply a set of instructions for a computer or device. At TechyTots we encourage children to develop early coding skills by using robots and the most advanced ‘Techy’ toys available. We also use unplugged play and activities which encourage problem solving skills, critical thinking, sequencing, early math skills and early programming, which are not only educational but lots of fun too!

We believe that our school offers a distinctive and innovative approach to each and every student’s education. We provide a forward thinking programme of study. We are one of the first schools in Ireland to offer the Junior Cert Student Awards Short Course in programming and coding. This reflects our expertise and facilities in this regard. We also provide a Guidance/Study Skills class for all first year students to ensure that they have the necessary skills to work independently and creatively. MistryMaths is a unique and unparalleled website that offers enterprising, innovative, engaging and high impact mathematics lessons and materials for a variety of people from students, teachers, lecturers, parents, schools, universities, education consultants and professionals. The author is Manoj Mistry and his work has proved immensely popular so very quickly. His work has gained over one million downloads and he was nominated for a 2013 Times Educational Supplement Award for his resource contribution to the education sector. Manoj is on a mission to change the face of mathematics education in the UK and abroad. He has started an eventful journey in banishing the stereotype of mathematics education being dull, inaccessible and worksheet based. Manoj wants to help tackle the skills shortage of mathematicians in the UK and challenge the notion that it is ok to be innumerate. No one ever confesses to being illiterate. There is a clear structure to every lesson with a minimum of three parts (majority of lessons are split into more). Lessons have been planned with OFSTED grading criteria in mind. The use of a yellow background is to help with retention. Not only is content being taught but links are readily made with skills that students can transfer into the outside world. Manoj would like to acknowledge the creativity of Laura Rees-Hughes and Tristan Jones for the work they have uploaded on www.tes.co.uk. Their creative ideas have inspired a number of different activities within his lessons. Manoj is passionate about improving the life chances of young people and bringing the UK back on the map as a pioneer in mathematics education. He has received countless praise and plenty of lovely messages from a variety of people he has never met from around the world, mentioning how much he has changed their lives and the learning experiences of students for the better. An educational institution messaged him saying they often hold exclusive meetings on how they can incorporate his resources into their scheme of work. Through desire, graft and word of mouth he has built up a brand in education, called MistryMaths, which is rapidly becoming well-renowned around the UK.
