Old Hanging Wood is situated between Little Chalfont and Chorleywood in rural Buckinghamshire countryside close to the historic Chenies Manor visited by both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. The woodland is over 16 acres and is designated by Natural England as Ancient Replanted Woodland. This is an indication of woodland origins dating to before 1600 AD. Old Hanging Wood is a family owned company, with the sole purpose of providing a facility and activities for the local community. The Feasey Family live close by to the Woodland and have always enjoyed walks through green spaces, learning about the vast range of trees and wildlife. Therefore, we wanted to give back to the community and run a not-for-profit organisation utilising our woodland to provide others with the opportunity to explore and learn the natures of a Woodland.

Our projects are open to all learners with our selection process fair and transparent with an emphasis on selecting those who have not had the opportunity to travel abroad before, from low-income households and will benefit the most from all stages of the project. The operation of our projects is based upon three main principles:IVOLO strives to ensure all of our activities reach the highest standards and we are a beacon of good practice. To sum us up in a nutshell, we’re a social enterprise (a not for profit organisation) passionate about helping children out of poverty and into a life of success and love. Founded in 2008 by David Montgomery, Goanserve is taking groups of volunteer travellers to help the children of Goa now. David’s Story It all started back in 2005 when my wife and I went to Goa for our twentieth wedding anniversary. Walking through a flea market, we stumbled across a campaign stall for a street child rescue organisation. That was the first time we met Matthew, the co-founder of the award-winning charity El Shaddai. Matthew invited us to his home for dinner that evening and while we chatted over our meal, he shared stories of the children in his care. El Shaddai was working tirelessly to provide food, clothing and shelter for the children but most importantly, the loving and caring environment they deserve. He encouraged us to sponsor a child, and we did. That child was Laxman, age ten. You can read Laxman’s story here.

The organisation was set up in April 2000 to address the shortage of quality after-school clubs in these areas. Over the years we have built up a first class reputation in providing flexible, quality, affordable out of school clubs that run during the term time from Craigour Park Primary, Gracemount Primary, St John Vianney Primary & Gilmerton Primary schools and holiday clubs providing inclusive childcare for local parents and carers, enabling them to take up or remain in employment, education and training. We operate a child-centred service where every child in our care, has the opportunity to enjoy a safe, caring, healthy and stimulating play environment. All of our after-school clubs are registered with the Care Inspectorate. All staff are SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) registered.

Leeds Animation Workshop is a not-for-profit, cooperative company, run by women, which produces and distributes animated films and films on social and educational issues. The organisation began in 1976 as a group of women friends who came together to make a film about the need for pre-school childcare. After completing WHO NEEDS NURSERIES? - WE DO! the group was formally established in 1978 as Leeds Animation Workshop. Throughout its history the Workshop has been run by women, who have carried out all stages of the production process, from initial research to final distribution. The films are all produced in consultation with organisations and individuals involved in the relevant field. The Workshop specialises in making complex or sensitive issues more accessible to audiences, and at times offering an alternative point of view. As well as production and distribution, the Workshop has been involved in many other activities, such as organising screenings of films by women and black directors, and providing workshop sessions in basic animation for adults and young people.

Girls Empowerment Initiative UK CIC has mobilized a team of experts to provide highly specialized support in this field, which is generally unrecognized and poorly understood in the UK. Our passionate and committed team is diverse, drawn from the five continents of the world. We have backgrounds in social work, community activism, legal, and mental health care. Perhaps most importantly, some of us are survivors of these harmful practices turned leaders, who offer a unique understanding of the beliefs and practices underlying the harmful behaviours and can offer ways to work with families to improve outcomes for the victims.
