The Studio was created from a redundant farm building by the Bond family and it is now run by Allison Bond with help from family members and friends. Clare is a graphic/surface pattern designer based in the UK who works from her home studio in Cheshire. She has created a range of stationary and home decor products that she sells online and is looking forward to exhibiting them with Country Living Magazine at RHS Tatton in July 2022. Being inspired heavily by nature means Clare can’t resist collecting plants and beach combing while on family walks with Bobby, the Bichon Frise who is rather famous with the locals and known as ‘no-eye Bob’ (yes, he has no eyes!). Clare has a passion for creating and printing designs beginning with hand-drawn motifs and one-off Gelli plate prints, eventually digitally manipulating them to the form final designs.

Beverley and Nigel Caleno own, run and are fully immersed in all aspects of Old Bank Studios life. We bought the Old Bank in Harwich in 2011. Having brought up and educated a family in Colchester, we were looking for a change of lifestyle and an opportunity to build on Bev’s Interior and Soft Furnishing business. Falling in love with this magnificent building and the unspoilt, faded charm of Harwich town, where beautiful architecture sits alongside maritime industry and stunning estuary views…….. we took the plunge. Bev very quickly opened her Textile Studio and it soon became clear that demand for her workshops and courses was going from strength to strength. Encouraged by this success, the decision was made to start inviting tutors from outside to deliver workshops; we were going to need more space! And so began a full restoration of the main banking hall; with it’s high ceiling, perfect light and ample space, our new Art Studio was created. As time went on a kitchen was installed in the former bank vault. Since our first Art Workshop in June 2013, we have successfully run hundreds of one day events and longer courses, attracting many of the country’s leading artists and tutors to work with us. Our reputation has spread far and wide and we regularly welcome students from the four corners of the UK, as well as further afield. On a personal level we both continue to explore and develop our own creativity and hold an annual exhibition of our work. Bev is firmly established as a Textile Artist and more recently a painter in Watercolour, whilst Nigel works in in many media, but is gaining a reputation as a Plein Air Oil Painter. We look forward to welcoming you to the Old Bank Studios very soon.

SET is a multifaceted arts and community organisation based in numerous centres across London. SET is home to an eclectic and experimental arts programme alongside affordable artist workspace. SET Projects & our Members Programme include performances, live music, exhibitions, talks, workshops and screenings, and seeks to provide a platform for new and collaborative projects. With an inclusive ethos always, SET is a community which aims to bridge gaps between disciplines, creating a platform for collaboration and multidisciplinary experimentation. SET’s charitable objectives are: ‘for the public benefit, to promote, improve and advance education in, and appreciation of, the arts.’ We fulfil this aim by financially and creatively supporting grassroots artistic production. Our mission is to nurture artists’ communities by offering affordable studios – the space, foundations and support to make bold, innovative and exciting new works. We support our Members in developing their practices by giving them access to project spaces, workshop areas, and inviting them to contribute to our Members’ Programme, a public arts programme led by our membership. SET is currently home to over 500 artists and has a membership of over 1000. SET hosts artists working in a variety of practices and disciplines from text, performance and installation to music, sound, print, textiles and more. SET currently has 6 centres in London. The SET New Cross project space is home to our main exhibition programme, whilst SET Dalston hosts our social space & bar and our performance space & music venue. Each SET centre is home to a variety of artists workspaces: from desk space to light industrial units. Each SET centre is hosted in otherwise vacant property, some temporary and some long term. SET brings disused space back into positive use in the interim period: see ‘Property Management’ for further information.
