Strong Like a Mutha was Founded in 2016 by Lyndsey Roberts after the birth of her son. Having previously been a professional dancer and exercised her whole life, Lyndsey found herself in a whole new world with a high risk pregnancy and very little evidence based information on safe and effective training for women in her situation. Ultimately this resulted in the complete halting of exercise which then caused lots of pain and discomfort throughout her pregnancy. Returning to exercise postnatally Lyndsey knew there had to be more information out there and began to feel drawn to helping and supporting women in the fitness industry. And so Strong Like a Mutha was born! Lyndsey and the SLAM community have created a gym environment (The Mutha Ship) that is welcoming, inviting, non-intimidating and allows its members to work as hard as they like. Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness to Balance your Mind and Body Kerrie is passionate about yoga and its effects on wellbeing. For years she has believed it makes you and those around you happier! Yoga is far more than a work-out, it is a way of life and a journey of self-discovery. Whether in a busy class or in a private lesson, Kerrie's aim is to enable everyone to feel the practice is just perfect for them in that moment.......leaving students feeling amazing! MEET KERRIE Hello! I believe in living a life full of joy, laughter, gratitude, and free of judgement. These feelings guide my teaching and practice, which is focused on nurturing students to help them better connect to themselves and to bring about a sense of balance and peace. I have been practicing meditation since a young girl taught by my mother and later as an adult practicing yoga asana too, with many brilliant teachers. My initial Hatha Yoga teacher training (200 hours) was with Daizan Roshi, a Zen Master and monk in the rigorous Rinzai tradition of Zen. He studied with the forefather of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri Pattabhi Jois in India. This Zen focus means mindfulness is at the heart of my practice, developing focus, awareness and suppleness on all levels. Training was immersive; away from modern life and the outside world. Starting each day at sunrise and finishing after dark, it was intense, inspirational and totally life changing. Training covered alignment, asana, meditation, breath-work, anatomy, philosophy and Zen. My passion for sharing yoga has led to further training in pregnancy and baby yoga (85 hours), restorative Yoga Nidra (40 hours) and Yin Yoga (130 hours; trained with the amazing Bernie Clark!). Most recently I have become certified to work in the areas of therapeutic yoga for cancer care, aligned to the British Society of Integrative Oncology and have also taken part in 'strong throughout menopause' education. Additionally, I have completed advanced training, over a number of years this included the art of sequencing, of adjustments and the subtle body including; Chakras, Bandhas and Prana (500 hours). I also have over 3000 hours teaching experience and am registered with the professional governing body, Yoga Alliance, as a senior designated experienced teacher. I have also had the privilege of staying at Plum Village in France to practice and study Zen and Mindfulness under the teachings of world renowned Zen Master and global peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. An absolutely incredible experience and such beautiful teachings, that I continue to share with anyone that will listen! My other life passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have spent time exploring India, Japan, Thailand, Borneo, Indonesia, Hawaii, Malaysia, Mexico, Canada, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Europe and many other beautiful places. I bring together and share my experiences of yoga from those places too.

Does the thought of giving birth make you quake? Have you considered a caesarean because it seems like a simpler way? Are you bombarded by horror stories about birth? If so, you are NOT alone!  These are some of the things that I've seen and heard over the years that I've been teaching, and I thought them too! There IS a way to prepare for a positive birth, and it's not all woo woo and weird. It's based in physiology (how the body works) and psychology (how the mind works). Put those together and you've got the basis of hypnobirthing. Many think that hypnobirthing is simply controlled breathing and some pictures of roses, but is is so much more. . . and you learn why breathing and pictures are helpful too.  Not only do you learn about the techniques you learn how to navigate the maternity systems that are in your area, and how to get the best birth with the resources available.  In my courses you will learn: * physiology of birth - how the body works in labour and birth * hypnotherapy for birth - releasing fears and building confidence * techniques for birth - breathing and practical applications * birth positions - why different postures matter * birth partners - how to be an amazing birth partner * the system - how to understand and navigate the maternity system in your area * labour and birth - what it looks like, feels like and when to use the techniques your used * place of birth - where can you have your baby? What options do you have? And much, much more. You have options of online, in person, group and private courses. Groups are kept small so that you can have as personalised experience as possible. Private classes are bespoke to you, with options for times, dates, location and content. With nearly 20 years experience of teaching hypnobirthing to parents, midwives, obstetricians and mentoring, I have the knowledge and experience to help you to have a wonderful birth. Whether this is your first or tenth baby, whether you're planning a home birth or a caesarean, I have the tools to help YOU.  This is the gift that you can give your baby before they are born, and in doing so, you will give yourself the gift of stepping into parenthood calmly, confidently and happily!
