Addictive Eaters Anonymous (AEA) is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from addictive eating. AEA has members who have suffered from anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. Many have been underweight, overweight or obese; others were people of average weight yet suffered with an obsession with food. Members may have used exercise and other substances to try and control their weight. Before coming to AEA, members found that they were powerless over food, and unable to stop the food obsession. AEA is not a diet or weight loss organisation. AEA members follow a Twelve Step programme, based on that of Alcoholics Anonymous. Through working the Steps, members find a Higher Power and freedom from the obsession with food. Members share their experience with newcomers of how they have found sobriety. Sobriety in AEA is freedom from addictive eating and all mind-altering substances. Addictive eating and eating addictively are terms used in Addictive Eaters Anonymous to describe obsessive or compulsive food behaviour, including, but not limited to, overeating, binge eating, undereating, starving, purging, compulsive exercise, the use of drugs to control weight, obsessive thoughts about food and obsession with body image or weight control. AQUAnimals founder Shirley Rush started the swim school back in 2015. The swim school was hiring private pools around South Norfolk and welcomed her sister Katie to offer more lessons but found more and more that availability was limited, pools varied in cost, depth/temperature/parking availability etc yet our demand was incredibly high. In 2017 we decided to start looking for another venue that could occupy a modern, fresh swim school. We found Rookery Business Park just a mile outside Attleborough. Not only were these new well insulated buildings with solar panels supplying power, it has easy access to the A11 and pretty central for most of our existing clients. Shirley drew a sketch of the layout she felt would work and architects brought it to life in literally an hour & a half! With plans in hand and a leap of faith we applied to Breckland Council and we were a step closer to freedom! Planning permission was granted just 5 weeks after submission and 3 days later we were in the building marking the floors with what would be our changing rooms & showers! Our very own premises, state of the art pool, purpose built and all brand new. We worked really hard and were so excited to be bring lessons to life on 18th September 2017. Three months after sitting with the architect. We’ve expanded hugely since 2017; a 400% increase in numbers, we now have 7 instructors teaching 7 days a week, we provide the curriculum swimming lesson provision for four local schools, became an approved Training Centre so we can host courses & CPDs, hire the pool privately for exclusive use, holiday courses etc. And we love it! The KTX Kickboxing system was founded by Mark Lock and Simon Bailey and was authorised by 9th Degree Grand Master Anton St James in 2015. The system was created in order to combine skill sets from various different disciplines in order to establish a unique and versatile fighting art. The “K” in KTX stands for Kali – which originated from the Philippines. kali often refers to the empty hand techniques of the Filipino weapons based systems. It focuses on the destruction of hands and limbs and works on the principle of “de-fanging the snake”, that is, to destroy or take away your opponents weapon. Whether a bladed weapon, impact weapon, a fist, or a kick, it doesn’t matter, kali’s core objective is take away the weapon through destruction techniques in order to gain entry to the vulnerable parts of the body. The “T” in KTX refers to Thai boxing, or Muay Thai. Muay Thai originates from Thailand and is one of the most popular striking martial arts in the world to date. Also known as the “art of 8 limbs”, Muay Thai utilises the whole body as a weapon. Punches, kicks, elbows, knees, Muay Thai’s fundamental striking skills are some of the strongest and deadliest techniques around which in turn highly compliments the Kali side to the programme. Both these martial arts are combined into a Kickboxing structure. Kickboxing was established in America in the early 70’s. It derives from full contact karate and utilises the punches from boxing with the versatile kicks of karate. Kickboxing is a freestyle fighting art and at its core lies lightning fast kicks, speedy footwork, and quick combinations. Both the Kali and Thai elements are blended into this free style structure in order to create a unique blend of striking skills. The KTX Kickboxing system offers both the Filipino empty hand and the powerful striking skills from Muay Thai and Kickboxing, forming a striking system that is functional, diverse, and adaptable. Whether your goals are fitness, street defence, or competition the KTX programme has it all.
