We work closely with other organisations and stakeholders to share best practice and resources. Our schools promote British values which include democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

As a Non-Profit Organisation, NGI generally acts as a resource for people. Hence, it provides advice and assistance, as well as organises programmes of physical, educational and other social activities, to enable our service users to advance in life. Furthermore, it provides recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare, for people living in the area of benefit, as well as those who have need, by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances, with a view to improving their conditions of life. NGI focuses on the skills development, capacity building, empowerment and the creation of networking opportunities, so as to enable people to participate in their communities as independent, mature and responsible individuals. This translates into three main service areas namely, Training, Consultancy and Community Development. The organisation has an inherent interest in partnering like-minded organisations, albeit local, regional, national or international, to realise this objective in an effective way. Global Education Derby projects are distinctive in that they create awareness of the possibility of change and give people the skills to bring about change at personal, local and global levels. Participants gain self-esteem and a sense of place and belonging as well as teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. The local community gains from a reduction in negative stereotyping and improved cohesion. Global learning produces greater awareness of the wider world and active support for the fight against global poverty. Global Education Derby (GED) is a registered charity based in Derby, established in 1991. As a Development Education Centre we are an independent, affiliated member of the Consortium of Development Education Centres (CoDEC) www.codec.org.uk/. We support schools and communities, locally and internationally, to nurture values and critical thinking skills needed to promote personal, local and global change. We have over 30 years of experience collaborating with organisations, teachers, youth workers and community educators to make sense of a complex and rapidly changing world. The learning methodologies that lie at the centre of our approach always: Produce a more outward looking mindset through exposure to global contexts and multiple perspectives. Here at Communicate-ed we are passionate about seeing people developed to their true potential. To that end, we provide practical, value-for money, relevant training for education professionals involved in the area of Special Needs We have a range of courses which cover a variety of roles at Secondary School and Further Education level. These include a brief overview for general staff, training for Teaching Assistants acting as Readers and Scribes, Invigilators overseeing exams, SENCos and Examination Officers organising support during the exam period, as well as Access Arrangements Assessors and Educational Psychologists assessing students. Our training for Language Modifiers is run jointly with the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and offers accreditation for successful delegates. Our other courses include input on a wide variety of subjects related to the support of students with special educational needs including Dyslexia, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyscalculia and Behavioural Difficulties. We offer training for Access Arrangements Assessors including courses recognised by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee for core CPD when updating SpLD Assessment Practising Certificates. We are also passionate about raising funds for charitable projects which support educational opportunities, particularly for those caught in poverty in the UK and overseas. To date we have been able to donate over £865,000 to a variety of causes.

The National Energy Foundation

The National Energy Foundation was established in 1988 by Milton Keynes Development Corporation to continue its work on energy efficient housing through its Energy World project. Energy World was a demonstration of 51 low-energy houses designed to be at least 30% more efficient than the Building Regulations then in force. The Foundation was set up to increase public awareness on the safe and efficient use of energy through demonstration and research. From 1993 to 2001 NEF worked closely with the Energy Saving Trust in setting up the UK’s network of Energy Efficiency Advice Centres (EEACs) and managed the network for the first five years. NEF went on to develop the National Home Energy Rating Scheme, which was run by a trading subsidiary (National Energy Services) from 1994 and in 1998 NEF established the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme for businesses which was transferred to the Carbon Trust in 2005 and later became the Carbon Trust Standard which continues to run to this day. Renewable energy was relatively unknown at this time and NEF became a thought leader as awareness began to grow and was at the forefront of educating the public on the latest developments. Through outreach events and working with schools, the team was introducing local people to the benefit’s renewable energy. When USEA (United Sustainable Energy Agency) merged with NEF in 2013, NEF started doing a lot of work on advice on domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty which grew into the projects still running today.

Baby Week is a registered charity and aims to bring sectors and services together to promote the best start in life. The initiative was inspired by Brazil’s ‘Semana do Bebe’ (UNICEF 2010), following a visit to the country by Churchill Fellow Lucy Potter. Leeds hosted the first English speaking Baby Week in 2016 and since has had interest from several other towns and cities wanting to host their own celebrations. Since Baby Week became a registered charity, Bradford, Hull, Wakefield, Cheshire and Merseyside have organised their very own take on Baby Week Leeds. In 2019, we were nominated and came in second place as charity of the year by The British Journal of Midwifery Practice Awards (BJM). Over the past six years, hundreds of citywide events have been held with thousands of attendees including parents, expectant parents, practitioners and professionals , and of course babies! Each city hosting the week has the opportunity to celebrate and bring together the work of maternity and early years services, helping to raise awareness of the critical developmental growth stages and a real focus on the 1001 days in order to give every baby the best start in life. Baby Week is organised with Child Friendly Leeds with partnerships involving NHS Leeds, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Dads, Public Health, Mumbler, and many more partners across all sectors. To mark the 5 years in 2020, Baby Week Leeds focussed on five of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a focus over the next few years: Good Health and Wellbeing, Reduced Inequality, Sustainable cities and communities, Climate action and No Poverty.

We are a volunteer led work with very few staff, but this does not mean we are a small organization. We can see as many as 300 people a day, looking for our assistance. We remain open every day Our impact remains high We can do this for a fraction of the cost of other day centres. We do this without any statutory funding. We recognize the true strength of our volunteers. And we recognize the value of everybody coming through our doors. First, we help people by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In our recovery programs, we address deeper needs for life-skills and job-skills training, and addiction recovery. We measure our progress against four criteria, which indicate to us that a life has been transformed from homelessness to hope: connection to family, commitment to sobriety, a job and a place to live, and a plan for the future. Today, The Whitechapel Mission is a results-oriented organization that is recognized as one of London's most effective. Our Purpose The Whitechapel Mission is called to serve the men and women caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness and dependencies of many kinds, and to see their lives transformed to hope, joy and lasting productivity. Our Goal To be the most effective provider of compassionate care and life transformation for hurting people in London. We promote the concept of being part of the Mission and taking ownership of the Mission. Any and all who come are welcome. The services we offer are built upon trust and belonging.
