Anja Lubach Ceramics Anja Lubach is a London based ceramicist. Her wheel thrown white porcelain vessels, tableware and sculptures are all unique. Her work experiments with the smooth, translucent properties of the clay and explores themes such as religion, tradition and death. Anja is based at Cockpit Arts in Deptford and in addition to being a practicing artist, she teaches locally and offers tuition and workshops.

ramp - roop & al make pots

RAMP is Roop & Al Make Pots, a creative partnership between Alice Hartford and Rupert Johnstone. • Roop & Al met at Edinburgh College of Art in the late 1990’s and began working together as RAMP in 2001 at Cockpit Arts in Deptford, London. RAMP makes thrown Earthenware and Porcelain functional and studio ceramics. Roop specialises in the throwing of pots and Al’s focus is on the decoration. In 2004 we moved to Devon initially to a studio at the Beaford Arts Centre and in 2005 to our house and workshop in Silverton, where we have been ever since.

Tours of the house are led by expert guides unravelling the 600 years of history and revealing an excellent country house collection of furniture, art, porcelain and curios. Enjoy delicious homemade cakes, cream teas and refreshments in the old Billiard Room. The famous yew hedge surrounds the formal gardens with the wild, Italian and walled gardens beyond, full of colour and interest through the seasons, maintained close to Blomfield’s original designs. A pottery retreat where potters come to develop their throwing skills with the help and support of potter Jo Osman, and her apprentices Lyndsey, Derek and Yoko. Feast on Jo’s delicious breakfasts and biscuits and Penny’s fabulous lunches. Our 2022 courses are fully booked. 2023 courses to June are now available to book on our courses page. July-December courses will be advertised via our sign up newsletter in the first instance in February and then released on the website. We have a small showroom in the studio with a range of functional and decorative stoneware and porcelain available to buy. You are always welcome to visit the pottery, but it is best to give us a call if you are travelling here specially. The studio will be open for our Christmas Sale from the 3rd-11th December.

naked clay ceramics

Inspired by the natural colours and textures of the earth, Naked Clay Ceramics is a collection of quiet, tactile, minimal style tableware and homeware in black stoneware and white porcelain. Using a combination of handbuilding and slip casting, everything is made by hand in my studio in Bedfordshire. At high temperatures the clay dances in the kiln. When they leave the kiln these pieces don’t conform to the symmetrical perfection and uniformity found in factory made items. Each is individual and unique. The pieces are fired with no glaze on the outside so that the feel of the natural, fired clay can be appreciated. I hope that tactile connection brings an opportunity to pause, breathe and savour a small moment in the hustle and bustle of life. I hand make a limited number of items 3-4 times a year, available online and at events. These small batches are crafted with care, knowing that each item will be an intentional and valued addition to someone’s home or collection.
