ABOUT LEARN REIKI: Anna Rose has been teaching Reiki in Bristol since 2005, and has taught many hundreds of people on her unique transformational 12-week Reiki courses at St Paul’s Learning Centre in the heart of Bristol. For 7 years Anna taught these life-changing Reiki courses for Bristol Council’s Adult Learning Service, helping people on low incomes who faced physical, mental or emotional health challenges. Always described by students as a gifted and inspirational teacher, she gained a huge reputation in Bristol for her exceptional Reiki courses. When Council budget cuts forced the closure of local community classes, Anna’s students begged her to go on teaching so they could finish their courses. She agreed, and LEARN REIKI was born, as Anna continued to teach her Reiki courses at St Paul’s Learning Centre. Anna’s courses were usually oversubscribed by word of mouth recommendation, as people travelled from all over the city and further to join. Friends and family noticed the life affirming changes in our students, and hearing the secret of their transformation naturally wanted to learn this amazing skill for themselves. Anna’s policy is never to turn away anyone who wants to learn Reiki, because she knows people are only brought to Reiki when the time is right. So she had to run additional classes each term to meet the demand. In 2018 she decided the answer was to train other people to teach her transformational Reiki courses, so she began training Reiki Masters in the Anna Rose Reiki School. Today we have a thriving Reiki School with professional experienced teachers trained by Anna to teach her Reiki Level 1 & 2 courses just as she teaches them, using exactly the same techniques, resources and materials. As mentioned earlier, Kagoshima area has a lot of myths as the place where Japanese gods (They are enshrined by Japanese Shinto shrines) descended to the peak of the Kirishima Mountain. The remains of people's livelihood as old as 13,000 years ago have also been found in many places in the area, due to its mild climate. Many foreign civilizations have been introduced through Kagoshima, southern front gate of Japan in its long history. Kagoshima used to be an area with exotic atmospheres, indicated by the name of places such as Soo, Ei and Tokara, those of which must be foreign origins. One of the examples of foreign civilizations can be Buddhism from China. The famous monk (Ganjin (668~763) who provided a great influence on Japanese Buddhism) landed at the southwest coast of Kagoshima where were favored with natural ports. Both Christianity (by Francisco de Xavier (1506~1552: Portuguese) and western gun have firstly brought to Japan in 16th century through Kagoshima. Due to the reason that the land of Kagoshima is mainly composed of volcanic ashes, and is not appropriate area for the rice production that was the base of Japanese economy, loads of Feudalism, Satsuma clan, had to find other source of income for their development. Major economic activities instead of rice production was foreign trade by smuggling under the circumstance that central feudal government (Tokugawa Shogunate: 1603~18674) prohibited (locked countries policy) to communicate with foreign countries except limited foreign trade through Nagasaki. Such informal communication with foreign countries was the base for Satsuma's modernization including introduction of modern military system and equipment in the end period of Tokugawa Shogunate. Such special situation of Satsuma clan compared with other clans in Japan made them together with Choushu (Clan corresponding to the current Yamaguchi Prefecture) lead the Meiji Restoration to change from being a feudal society to having a capitalist economy and left the Japanese with a lingering Western influence. As shown above, Kagoshima, Satsuma area is characterized as an area where have been actively communicated with foreign countries in Japan.

SIMPLE YET SOPHISTICATED Every technique shown is the simplest answer for the threat given, and the most effective way to attack and cover in one motion. What at first appears to be more complex, you will soon learn is the simplest way to deal with a more complex threat. POWERFUL BODY MECHANICS Applicable to most armed and unarmed martial arts. This art will teach you to fight using your entire body, maximising your power and honing your instinctive responses. LOGIC AND GEOMETRY At the LLA we use a simple four step training method. Each technique is based on logic and the demands of the situation, rather than clever or showy moves; it just happens that some techniques look damned good. The method breaks down each set of techniques into four steps, each student only progressing to the next part of the technique when they have mastered the first. This means that as a beginner you can train with more advanced practitioners straight away and never feel left behind, while allowing you to advance at your own pace. Variations in the four steps allow for overlaps and cross- referencing of responses and pressures, thus building your understanding and repertoire of combat simply and quickly. INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY One thing we are at pains to point out at the LLA is the multi-cultural nature of these arts. Manuals such as I.33 & Paulus Hector Mair’s Fechbuch (amongst many others), show women and men, white and black training together and it is also known that several masters of these arts were Jewish.
