Many of the artists in BAS9 investigate identity from an intersectional perspective, taking account of multiple identities that coexist such as class, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. In Wolverhampton the exhibition explores these ideas in a critical dialogue with Wolverhampton’s cultural history which has been shaped by the diverse populations that came to work in its manufacturing industries during the post-war period. Wolverhampton Art Gallery houses one of the most significant collections of art on ‘The Troubles’ outside Northern Ireland. It also collects works linked to the British Black Arts movement which has its roots in the city as many of its members studied at Wolverhampton School of Art.

ABOUT US Boukman Academy is a free online school which offers a decolonised and inclusive curriculum of Black history, politics, psychology and sociology. We are named after the first leader of the Haitian Revolution: Dutty Boukman. At a voudon ceremony in 1791 Boukman, who was named so due to the number of books he’d read, inspired the masses in the ultimate fight for freedom. Like Boukman, we aim to empower through action, providing education from an alternative perspective to people of all ages. Education is at the heart of all revolutionary movements, and as Malcolm X said, it is the passport to the future.

Hi, I am both a qualified commercial and domestic heating engineer with 40 years experience in the field. I set up an independent heating design consultancy in 2014 after designing & installing plant rooms & systems for most of my career ( www.robberridge.co.uk ) and am now fully engaged with this and my heat calculation software company with two other directors. After coming off the tools for some six years now and designing many plant rooms and systems for my new clients, I bring a unique perspective that bridges the often large gap between installation engineers and architects/building services engineers. Offering fully scaled CAD drawings, specifications and tender documents that all parties fully understand has kept me really busy and my life, 'interesting'. I also offer training courses in building heat loss, system calculation and specification to which I partner with IMI-Hydronics. My main focus is system design and efficiency, whatever the heat source or fuel type and I have no personal affiliation with any. #BeaPro

Laura has been teaching Scaravelli inspired Yoga (from a somatic perspective) for almost 30 years and has recently qualified as a Somatic Movement Educator with the School for Body-Mind Centering® (500+ hours training). She teaches a form of Somatic Yoga which encourages body-mind repatterning by gently undoing unhelpful habits and allowing the natural intelligence of the body to come through. She also offers Somatic Touch and BMC® sessions. Her group and one to one sessions, as well as workshops, can be particularly helpful for nervous system regulation, i.e. for anxiety, depression, persisting pain and fatigue, but their gentle, restorative nature is also suitable for older students or those looking for a more mindful approach to Yoga and movement. *Body-Mind Centering® and BMC® are registered service marks of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, used with permission

Wise Global Training was set up when its founders realised that whilst eLearning was a modern, efficient and cost effective alternative to classroom based training health and safety training and certificates, the quality of what was on offer in the general market place, left a lot to be desired. We have invested heavily in developing suites of eLearning training courses which have had to meet our self imposed high quality standards as well those of NEBOSH and IOSH. We recognised from the very beginning that much of what was on offer from other providers was written by trainers with the trainers needs in mind. We have written our material from the perspective of what you need and how you can best engage with the subject and course material used to cover that subject. That resolution and determination is reflected in the courses we offer today where we continue to view you as the most important part of the equation of transferring knowledge.
