I’m a writer and teacher and I’ve been sharing my heart online since 2006. I’m the author of This I Know: Notes on Unraveling the Heart and my mission is to help people access their creative joy and nurture a deeper relationship with themselves. Words have been at the centre of my world for as long as I can remember. I started writing a diary aged 11 and grew not only a life-long journaling practice but also an unending curiosity about my place in the world. Studying photography at art school followed by a degree in journalism lead to me working as a journalist for many years, but the truth is my life, as I now know it, began in the spring of 2005 when the man I loved died very suddenly from a heart attack — everything I thought I knew about life changed in that instant. Walking through the fire of bereavement is how I truly came to inhabit every part of who I am, the shadows as well as the light. In 2006 I started writing a blog and being able to share my thoughts and feelings online was incredibly empowering, my way of getting back out there from the safety of my living room. Blogging helped reopen the door to my creativity, connecting me to other souls around the world as I found my way back to what was meaningful for me.

For a long time, I worked within the Heritage Sector, leading a Visitor Experience team at several places within the South West, helping to look after special places to leave a leagacy for future generations. I loved my purposeful work, developing my team and seeing them grow in their skills, experience and ultimately confidence to become the best version of themselves which enabled them to deliver high levels of service to everyone visiting. In 2014 and 2018 I negotiated returning to my role on a flexible working pattern after being on parental leave twice. I did this through recruiting, training and developing a fantastic team of staff and volunteers to support the visitor operation. Enabling me to lead on the department’s business plan objectives and also lead the visitor experience of a major £3.2 million restoration project. Discovering what I wanted and making it happen In 2020, as a result of the fall out of the Covid pandemic, I took voluntary redundancy. I knew that I wanted to use my people skills in my next career path, so with my warm, calm and empathetic approach and a desire to reach and help far more people, after my own journey of self explorations, I decided I wanted to become a coach! So in 2020, I decided to make it official and went through a rigorous training programme for 11 months, to achieve my diploma and become a certified Personal Devlopment coach with The Coaching Academy. I now use my coaching to help.. -Parents achieve clarity, happiness and fulfilment in life, enabling them to be the shining light for their children, showing them what is possible. - Senior Professionals who have worked in a role for many years and are questioning their next steps and are seeking clarity, direction and professional career transition suppport. Being a mum and a senior professional in my previous career, there were many times where I would have loved support to work out my steps in life. Figuring this out on your own can be hard. My skillset and support This is where I can help you, I've done it the hard way so you don't have to. Drawing on my experience, professional coaching skills and working through my bespoke 'Re-connection & Life Balance' Programme, I can help you make the right choices to live a happy and fulfilled life. Drawing on my 15 years of recruitment & selection experience in the conservation and charity sector. I offer coaching and mentoring to build your confidence in applying and attending interviews so you have a good chance of securing that dream role.

My own shift was a long time coming. My problem was I enjoyed my job but struggled to get my energy and delivery of a big role in a marketing agency in good balance. I longed for the ability to focus on those things I was great at – and be honest with myself about those things others were better placed to do. Within this, developing as a leader took time – and with the help of coaching I was able to sort through my areas of strength and weakness so that I could lead my team in a way that was right for me. I learnt that there’s no off-the-shelf way to lead, you have to uncover it yourself - and I realised doing this was a missing step for many people and businesses. For me, the impact of doing this meant I discovered my motivations and drivers and what it was that I brought to the role and business that no one else could. I was able to package this up and implement my own style. I developed a conviction I hadn’t previously had, and was able to live a new, more confident style. It took time. It took energy. But I was proud of the shift and the impact it had. Over time, this led me to become fascinated by how I could help other people define their goals and make those shifts important to them.

The Autism Training Network was established following an identified need for quality support and training for a range of settings across the UK. Our clients range from health and social care settings, to charity and voluntary organisations through to businesses and public service companies. Over the last decade there has been an increase in the research and development of our understanding of neurodivergence conditions such as Autism, Tourettes and ADHD (to name but a few!) and with this increase, there are more and more individuals who are self-identifying or who are being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This left a massive shortfall in the knowledge and understanding of how to support someone or even just be comfortable around neurodivergent people. We believe that everyday is an opportunity to learn and our team are consistently undertaking further learning and training to enhance their knowledge and experiences to better facilitate training and learning opportunities. Our team has worked with some incredible people in the UK and the feedback that we have received has been testament in itself that we are supporting to make a change to how neurodivergence is seen.
