The Creative Writing Programme is one of the leading centres for creative writing in the UK. After moving out of the University of Sussex it has established a reputation for excellence in Brighton and the South East. Our approach to teaching creative writing At a time when the cost of higher education has made university study an expensive luxury, our programmes offer a practical course of study, taught at university level, at an affordable price. Our innovative approach to teaching focuses on individual creativity and on teaching writing skills within the context of the creative process. Through a practical course of study designed to teach you how to build and structure narrative, our team of experienced writing tutors will help you develop your creative potential. Blended creative writing courses Work patterns and learning patterns are changing. To accommodate this new reality, as well as our in-person courses we have developed a new blended learning structure for our two-year programme. Our blended courses, aimed at local writers in the South East, are a mix of online and in person teaching, with classes taught from the Phoenix Art Space, or The Kemptown Bookshop in Brighton in early autumn and summer and online during the winter. You’ll spend the first five weeks of the Autumn Term meeting up in person, then switch to online learning as Winter sets in. We’ll stick with online classes until clocks go forward in March, then meet up again in person for the end of the Spring Term and the whole of the Summer Term. This way we make the most of what online learning has to offer, get to know each other, work together as a group, avoid travel over the winter months, stay safe and reduce our carbon footprint. Lilley Lovett Theatre Group is a place for children to have fun, develop their performance skills and nurture a life-long love of musical theatre.  We see their confidence grow with every passing week - it's a joy to witness!  Our sessions are aimed at children and young people aged 4 - 18 years.  We meet every week during term time at the Laughton Parish Hall.   * Monday 3.15pm – 4.15pm ‘Little Lilley Lovetts’ for children in reception and year 1 * Monday 4.30pm – 6.30pm for school years 3 to 6 * Tuesday 3.15pm – 4.45pm for school year 2 * Saturday 10.00am – 1.00pm for school years 7+ Each year, we stage a full production for children in year 3 and above, including sets, costumes and lighting, which is open to the public. During the run up to the shows, we’ll get the children thinking about all of the aspects of putting on a production – from direction to costumes.  We also organise optional trips to see professional shows outside of the sessions so the children can really appreciate the collaborative nature of putting on a show. We offer two trial sessions for children so they have time to settle into the sessions and decide whether they would like to become a full member of Lilley Lovett Theatre Group.  Membership fees are charged termly at a rate of £8 per hour.  Discounts are available for siblings and we have a limited number of scholarship places available.
