Enhancing quality of life and employability for people with mental health needs.Action Mental Health (AMH) actively promotes the mental health and well-being of people in Northern Ireland. Action Mental Health grew from humble beginnings in Downpatrick in 1963 when it was known as the Industrial Therapy Organisation. Back then it was tucked away out of sight, in tune with the stigmas of the day. Today however, AMH has emerged as the standard bearer within Northern Ireland’s Third Sector – helping to smash the stigma of mental illness for all sections of the community. Action Mental Health is multi-faceted, offering myriad services. Integral to the organisation is its nine New Horizons services, dotted across Northern Ireland – north, south, east and west, where clients benefit from a variety of personal development, vocational skills and employability training options including accredited qualifications and work placements. A variety of resilience-building techniques are also pivotal to our range of services delivered to school children and young people in further and higher education. Services provided also include a full range of therapeutic counselling for children, young people, adults, families including services for the deaf community. The charity also offers a whole gamut of services for young and old alike, designed to promote mental well-being for those in work and currently unemployed; those affected by chronic pain or debilitating long-term illnesses; people living with eating disorders and also a dedicated service in Bangor for people with learning disabilities.

The Mind Matters Initiative (MMI) aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of those in the veterinary team, including students, veterinary nurses, veterinary surgeons and practice managers. MMI was launched in 2015 and is funded and run by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the regulatory body for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses in the UK. The RCVS takes the mental health and welfare of members of the veterinary profession seriously, and its five-year, one million pound commitment to Mind Matters reflects this. Mind Matters is chaired by Susan Dawson, who is also Chair of the Veterinary Schools Council. It is run day to day by its Director, RCVS CEO, Lizzie Lockett and Mind Matters Initiative Manager, Lisa Quigley. Mind Matters is a pan-professional initiative, supported by a taskforce comprising representatives from key veterinary and veterinary nursing organisations, including:

“Every day’s a school day!” I believe this, not just because I have a background in teaching but because life has taught me this through experiences outside the classroom not just in it. My great passions are music, culture and learning. I have travelled extensively and have seen firsthand that regardless of personal story or background we are all incredibly unique and that means there is place in this world that only we as individuals can fill. My favourite things to do include playing the piano, beach or mountain walks, city breaks or a good book or movie. I love stories especially epic ones like Lord of the Rings or The Chronicles of Narnia and have learnt that in truth we all long to see ourselves in a larger story where good triumphs over evil and the hero wins the day. To achieve this requires companionship and trustworthy allies, and for me this defines my goal in partnering with others as their life-coach. My role in life (apart from husband and father) is that of encourager; to walk alongside those who are struggling, or lost, or lonely and help them re-discover or perhaps discover for the first time their worth and value. I am patient and kind and naturally pastoral always regarding people as the priority over processes or profit.

Founded in 1940 as an independent, voluntary association of six local youth clubs. Today, we are a regional voluntary youth organisation (RVYO), a registered charity and limited company with a membership of 120 local youth organisations. Our mission is to support the personal development and social education of children & young people and to promote good relations and community development. Each year we work directly with around 2500 young people, staff, and volunteers. We deliver membership support services, training, networking opportunities, policy guidance, youth projects, and an extensive programme of youth activities. Our current youth work priorities are about supporting young people’s health & well-being, life skills, physical activities, training & development projects, and information & support services. We aim to create conditions that inspire and enable young people to be their best in the pursuit of shared goals.

OUR HISTORY- KALEIDOSCOPE GYMNASTICS Kaleidoscope Gymnastics previously Gazelle Gymnastics Club founded by our Head Coach and Club Owner Dawn Dornan grew from a recreational class of one hour a week, to an extremely well attended club which ran in 3 leisure centre venues in east and south Belfast for over 30 years. In 2015 we rebranded as Kaleidoscope Gymnastics upon acheiving our life long dream of setting up our own premises to provide an even bigger and brighter future for our gymnasts with more classes, equipment and an even more varied timetable. Since then our Club has continued to go from strength to strength, We have been long established as an excellent Recreational Gymnastics Provider culminating in being awarded Family First's Best Activity Provider 2019. Our Competitive Gymnastic Squads are achieving more and more success each year including a 2019 Northern Ireland Champion Sarah Hetherington and our busiest In House Competition to date. Our boys side of the club continues to develop in both our Recreation and Squad classes and we are so happy to add our newest Class "Gymnastics Inc."to our timetable providing gymnastics for gymnasts with additional learning Needs. KALEIDOSCOPE CHEER In 2016 Kaleidoscope Cheerleading was founded with Head Coach Cara Watson, the Club has grown each year with many a competiive success and the additition of extra training hours in 2019. KALEIDOSOCPE DANCE Kaleidoscope Dance was founded over 15 years ago by Dawn Dornan with the Classes moving to our main premises in 2015. In the past 2 years her daughter Holly Dornan has taken a lead in the Choreography and running of the classes with Dawn remaining as the Principal and we have also expanded into Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Comtemporary, Musical Theatre and Jazz. KALEIDOSCOPE TEAM All our coaching team are fully qualified, insured and affiliated with the appropiate recognised bodies. At Kaleidoscope we have an excellent Team who always provide a high level and service of coaching. They are constantly attending courses and working towards new qualifcations for continuous personal development while in class they provide your child with fun child centred classes in a safe and caring environment.
