WE ARE A CHARITABLE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE GLL is a not for profit charitable social enterprise committed to delivering a better quality of fitness and leisure, libraries and performing arts facilities for everyone. We’re committed to providing access to quality community facilities - and more - at a price everyone can afford. We promote healthy and active lifestyles, giving communities access to facilities that help improve their health and happiness through participation in activities. It could be gyms, libraries, playgrounds or world-class venues such as those on the Olympic Park, we have it all right here. However, we do provide more than access. As a charitable social enterprise, we invest in our communities as we are a not for profit organisation but it’s not just about money: we also invest time and effort in encouraging everyone to take advantage of our services. We will ENGAGE and welcome new participants, introducing them to activities that reflect their needs. We will SUPPORT our communities to make lifestyle changes through targeted programmes. We will ADAPT our approach and offers to ensure everyone can participate in our services. We will SUSTAIN participation by offering varied programmes, facilities and memberships. As a result, we’re proud to be the first leisure operator in the UK to be awarded both the Social Enterprise Mark, and now Social Enterprise UK badge as well as the Prime Minister’s Big Society Award. Instead, we reinvest any financial surplus we make back into our services and facilities. The School offers classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Drama, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Acro Tec, a form of gymnastic dance movement. All Classes are held at the Queensbury Methodist Church Hall, Beverley Drive, Edgware, Middlesex, HA8 5ND Currently, the syllabi of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) are studied in Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and Jazz. Students are coached for examinations from Pre-primary to Advanced level and are also given the opportunity for free expression and improvisation. The LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) syllabus is followed in the drama section. BSPA is a registered LAMDA examinations centre so we are now able to hold the exams at our school. During their time at the school, Students are given the opportunity to take part in School Shows, Boot Camps, Summer Schools, Theatre trips and events such as the London New Year’s Day Parade. The Beverley School of Dancing was founded in January 1961, offering classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Ballroom, to boys and girls from 3 years upwards. In 1999, the school changed its name to the Beverley School of Performing Arts, with Drama and Jazz classes being added to the curriculum. In 2009, due to popular demand, singing and street dance were added to compliment the full range of performing arts. In 2021, the school celebrated it’s 60th Anniversary. A memory book was presented to the founder Miss Pear, a Virtual Show was performed and a party with invited guests was held at the Queensbury Methodist Church Hall, where the School has held classes since 1961. 2022 promises to be yet another ground breaking year for the school, with student numbers increasing and exciting new classes being introduced.
